Well, it was her third lunch at the school. The Neko child walked into the lunch line, being dwarfed by the much larger middle school students and teens. She quietly grabbed a hamburger, mostly because it was what most other students were grabbing, and sat down at an empty table. Once seated, she began to examine her meal.
It appeared to her like a slab of meat was stuffed between two slices of bread, with some lettuce and this odd red circle also shoved between the bread. She flicked her ear with irritation, before taking the top slice of bread off of the stack and placing it at the other end of her tray, treating it like extreme caution as if it were a dead rat. She then took off the red circle, which was in fact a tomato slice, foreign to her, and placed it next to the bun. She also did so with the lettuce. Now, only the bottom bun and hamburger remained. She quickly devoured the latter, covering her hands in the grease. She didn't really care. She cocked her head at the final bun. It was soaked in the same grease as her hands. Licking her lips, Sylvia bit into the bread. And then immediately spit it out onto her tray. She scrambled for the milk and jugged it down to wash the taste out of her mouth, and her tail slowly waved from side to side in frustration.

The Neko girl clearly hadn't seen her. Or had she? Jordan stared at her for a moment, watching gnash into her meal. Her eyes widened slightly when she saw her spit her food onto her tray. Jordan looked around, looking to find if anyone else had witnessed what she just saw. Talking to people her own age made her nervous. Children were a complete different story, they were so unpredictable. Nonetheless, she slid closer to her and hesitated before she spoke. "Um, hello."

The Neko stopped moving for a moment, letting out a quiet growl before turning her eyes up to Jordan. She cocked her head at her, squinting. Who was this person? Could she trust her? After a moment's consideration, Sylvia opened her mouth and started speaking in a high-pitched tone. "Hi," She said quite bluntly before looking back to her tray.

Jordan looked from the girl, to the food covered tray, then back at the girl. Say something, she thought. "Problem with your food?" Really? She looked down at her own tray and pushed it away, suddenly losing her appetite.

Sylvia squinted. "No. I just like meat. Only meat," She said quite bluntly, and she began to fiddle with her tail in a bored fashion. Looking up at the teen and down at Jordan's tray, she folded down one ear in a questioning way. "Is there a problem with your food?" She asked.

Jordan looked back at her tray. "No, not at all. In fact, you could have it if you like. The inside of the sandwich is mostly meat." She pushed her tray towards the girl. While sitting, she caught some of the strange looks other students were giving her but did her best to ignore them. "What's your name?"

"Uh... No thanks..." She trailed. She didn't want to embarrass herself anymore, and more food would just be more embarrassing. The Neko briefly followed Jordan's line of sight to the other students. She didn't like the looks they were giving, so she let out a long hiss before answering Jordan's question. "Syl-vi-a. What's your name?" She asked.

"Sylvia?" Jordan asked. "Or do you actually pronounce it with the pauses in between?" Normally she wouldn't have asked this, but the Academy had some students with some very exotic names. "I'm Jordan," she said, offering her hand and smiling.

"Yes, Sylvia," Responded Sylvia. She managed a small smile, which she didn't do very often. "Jordan? I like that name," She politely commented, shaking the human's hand, "I'll be right back..." She said quietly, getting up and walking to the trash can where she cleaned off her tray. When done, she handed it to a lunch lady before sitting back down. "So, what do you do?" Her question was very broad, but the five-year-old didn't know that. What she actually wondered about was what ability Jordan had.
