Festivals had never really been Live's thing. Back home, she would have never dared to go to such a social event; she lived in too small a town with too many people who hated her. However, barely anyone on this island even knew her yet so there was no danger in attending this festival. She wasn't a fan of all the people around though anyways, but she wanted to check out the music and art. Besides, she had also been spending basically all her time in her room since arriving at Starlight and felt that a night out would be good for her.

She traded out the sweats and tank top she had been wearing for the past two days for a her ripped black jeans, a dark gray hoodie, and her black combat boots. She left her hair down but grabbed her snapback with a pot leaf on it. Live's makeup was nonexistent but she decided not to bother. She wasn't trying to impress anyone or sand out anyways. After one last look in the mirror, adjusting her pentagram necklace, she grabbed her bag and headed out the door.

Being a Shadow Walker was useful for getting places. She was able to cut the walk to downtown in half by traveling through shadows. When Live arrived she walked around the corner of a building, after returning to her human form, and began to walk down the street.

There were more people than the girl would have liked to deal with but she supposed she could tolerate it. She stopped a vendor selling some really cool paintings and started walking over to check it out. She could hear some music playing up ahead and added that to her list of things to check out next. The sun was setting so she guessed she still had another hour or two until they set off the fireworks.

"Why thank you." Kaya said as she gave the artist she was talking to, he had said the Kimono she wore was really pretty and she really did like the work she had put into it. After learning that she and her family were actually more closely related to Oni then Demons she had done some research into it and was surprised to find that she rather enjoyed learning about other Oni. Since today was a festival she had decided to craft a kimono herself from the very shadow's of her father's realm and it was absolutly amazing how everyone seemed to treat her differently when she was wearing it. The deep shades of black seemed to shine and shift but also stand out as the light from the sun lowered. The beauty of the Shadow Silk becoming more and more noticible in the waining light and soon once the moon was out it would be in its full glory.

"I'd like to paint you actually. I can't let the opportunity pass me by." The Painter said to her. She could tell that the comment was obviously flirtatious and Kaya took it in stride. "Why, It would be a shame to say no I'd think." So Kaya sat in front of the easle which was inside a stall and made a barrier between her and the crowds shutting them away and made it so she looked straight at the artist as he worked. After a bit of time with people peaking in to see who he was painting. After some time though Kaya noticed a certain woman she hadn't seen in quite some time but they had talked frequently over her link to Live's phone. Giving a wry smile she sent a mental text to Live's phone now and gave a simple question.

"Hey, I was thinking of going to the Festival, Want to join?"

As Live was headed towards he vendor to check out the art, she felt her phone buzz in bag. She let out a sigh and stopped to pull the bag from her back. Most people probably carried their phones in their pockets but Live wasn't a fan of that nor did she really have a need to. She usually didn't have anyone who was trying to contact her and she wasn't exactly the biggest socialite or anything. However recently Kaya had been texting her. The girl had felt sort of odd about it and fairly awkward. Kaya had seemed like a decent enough person (well, if you could really call her a person) but Live wasn't use to someone trying to talk to her as much as this girl. Was this what friends did? Were the two friends?

Maybe the fact that Kaya was a demon not a person helped Live tolerate her more. The spirit world was something she was fairly comfortable with so maybe a creature from there was better suited to get along with the Shadow Walker.

Live wasn't too surprised when she saw the message was from Kaya but was more surprised when she read it and it asked if she wanted to go the festival. She chuckled and sent a reply.

"Already there..." Was all the message said. It was strange, she didn't think she had ever been invited to go to an event like this before. There had been a few boys in school who would ask her out now and then (the interest usually didn't last long though) but beyond that she wasn't really the go to person for hanging out.

"Well it's a good thing then cause I'm in the artist stall you looking at right now. =P the walls might obstruct your view of me, I just saw you for a brief moment. ICome on over if you wish. think the artist is almost done" Kaya said smiling inwardly. The poor girl was to anti social for her own good. Though Kaya herself wasn't the social goddess of the school, to most she was very care free athletic and didn't really bother her.

Except the Meat Slabs in the gym who would not stop ogling her when she worked out. Mentally she waved away those thoughts. She didn't want to sour her mood at that moment. Not a couple moments later the artist was done. When he turned the picture around she found something odd. It was her to remarkable detail of the face and hair but that was were the similarities stopped there. In the picture her skin was a gentle white color, her horns where they should have been was a dark blue halo. Here eyes seemed to have a more playful quality and from her back was tendrils of energy in a not quite black coloration. To herself she looked rather stunnimg like that but she looked to the artist and wanted to pose a question to him as she moved closer to study the painting. Other then her figure and clothes it looked so different.

"Why did you paint me like this?"

the painter only shrugged. "I have a gift to see deeper then the skin, and I thought you might enjoy seeing your inner self."

Kaya took hold of it and looked at the painting some more, "May I have this for myself?" she asked only recieving a nod from the painter who now as she looked at him seemed older then her first impressions. "Thank you." She took a step out into the flowing crowds and having a small bubble of personal space appear as was natural it seemed for human as the avoided taller more well built individuals. Kaya almost didn't hear Live get closer to her.

As Live read the text she looked up at the booth in front of, trying to spot Kaya. She started to move closer to the booth as the girl suddenly stepped out. It was strange to Live that people didn't react that strongly to Kaya's...different appearance. She was use to a town where having a funny shaped nose or dressing differently made you a target for ridicule. However this place people, while they did notice, hardly seemed to care. Even as she glanced around she could see more people who weren't quite people. Some looked half animal. Some had weird colored skin. It sort of looked like this festival might have also been a freak show.

Live walked over to Kaya and stopped a few feet away, not one to just barge into people's personal space. "Uh.. Hey." Live said to the girl crossing her arms.

She looked over at the artists booth. She like his paintings. She wished she was a better painter. Live loved art and she loved to create thing but she wasn't very good at drawing or painting like this guy was. She created much more abstract creations. Or she used other peoples already made art and drawings and patched them together to make something of her own. Some people might call that stealing but Live liked to think of it as inspiration and reusing.

There where several things Dotty had never done before coming to the island. She had never had a sleepover for example, or gone to a party or done several things that were considered normal back home in North America. She had also never really been allowed to go out by herself. Not like she could here on the island anyway. Here was like being freed from most rules.

So when she heard about a music festival with fireworks(something she'd always thought sounded cool, but never experienced back home) she made sure to go. After all, for the four years she'd been o the island she tended to keep to herself. She'd promised herself that she was going to get out more after her birthday, and she planned on keeping her promise.

The festival drew out a ton of artist. Of all kinds, musicians, painters, photographers...the list was endless. While in a photography booth, Dotty talked with the owner of the booth about photography, bought some new film for her own vintage camera and bought a black and white photo of the night over the water. She then came across the band that was playing and sat around listening and watching until she became bored, and decided to stroll around again.

She came to one tent filled with paintings. The owner of this tent was a student Dotty recognized from school. Kaya-or that's what she thought the girl was called, was wearing a kimono and talking with a new girl. Or at least she seemed to be new, Dotty was by no means social and still didn't know very much of the island. Boredom and curiosity however brought her over to the two girls, much like how those two things had brought her to the festival.

"Hey Kaya, and girl I don't know, how's it going?" She asked, walking over.

Kaya looked up from the painting and going from the curious and slightly depressed look to being more happy now that Live was there. Using a small portal she stowed the painting safely on her bed while she was going through the rest of the festival. "Hey Darling! Long time no see huh? I didn't think you would show up all by your lonesome to something like this. Guess that just shows how much I know right?"

About to continue on she was actually interrupted midscentence by the prompting of another girl showing up and saying her name. She looked over to her and cocked her head to the side, had she met this girl before? Not in a introduced sence of knowing her. If she remembered correctly the girl had taken a picture of her from a short distance and at the time only had made Kaya raise an eyebrow. She had only over heard the girl's name once but on the spot now Kaya was being hard pressed to remember the name.

"Deedee? no...it was Dorry....no, DOTTY that's it! I don't think we've actually formally met. You took my picture one day and then ran off to do something else." She looked from Dotty back to Live. "Live this is Dotty, Dotty this is Live. She just moved into the Girl's Dorms a while ago. And I was actually about to ask Live what she wanted to do now."

Darling? That was a new one. Live couldn't remember a time when anyone had ever called her darling. The word felt so removed from who she was that it took her a second to register that Kaya was speaking to her.

She was about to respond, saying something about how she preferred to be by her lonesome, when some other girl walked over and said hello to Kaya. Live stepped back a bit, one so she could see the other girl and two so she didn't have to be to close to either of them. They were kind of standing in the middle of a walking crowd so it was hard to get much space from anyone. Live was starting to think that this festival idea hadn't been a good one.

As Kaya struggled to come up with the girls name, Live looked the girl up and down taking in her appearance. She was short but appeared to be about the same age as her but it was hard to tell due to her height. It caught her off guard a bit as she heard Kaya introducing her to this new girl. Dotty. It was an interesting name but Live wasn't one to judge much on names. After all, she had been going by a different name than the one given to her at birth since she was ten.

"Oh.. Well I was just gonna go look at art and shit..." She said with a shrug as she crossed her arms. She hadn't really been prepared for talking to other people or hanging out with them. Part of her wanted to just tell the two girls goodbye and head of to do her own thing but part of her also kinda, sorta wanted friends. Of course, she would never tell anyone that though.

Well this was just a little awkward as the three of them stood there for a long while before Kaya spoke up once more clearing her throat in the process "Well dotty I think live and myself will go on ahead you have fun with the rest of the festival." Kaya said as she motioned for Live to walk with her as she begun to walk deeper into the masses of the throng seeming to keep a small bubleb around her as the crowd parted.

"So what sort of art you looking for? Got plenty of artist of all form running round this year. Though I suggest that you avoid the abstract section, it never made much sense to me." She said giving a friendly smile to Live

Live was glad when Kaya pulled them away from the other girl. Live knew Kaya and they had been texting so she felt less awkward being around her but she really wasn't looking to make any new friends tonight. She wasn't even sure if she wanted to be around existing friends...not that she was really sure that Kaya was her friend. Live didn't think of herself as someone who had friends.

"Abstract does make sense. It still has content and meaning, it's just presented differently than how we normally see things." Live had had always been a fan of the weird and different. When she made art it tended towards the more abstract and representational. She didn't see a point in painting a tree that looked just like a real tree; if she wanted to see a real tree she would just go outside.

Live couldn't help but notice Kaya's kimono. Live liked anything black but this was especially mesmerizing, "Where did your kimono come from? I can sense it's not from this world."

Part of being a Shadow Walker mean't Live was very connected with the spiritual world; she could see spirits and demons most human's can't and could sense when something wasn't exactly earth produced.
