Lumine wasn't the social type. But when she was, it involved food. And when Lilac Music Festival came to to town, it wasn't the tunes that drew her to the city, no, it was the food! But not just any old food. Classic barbecue!

The weather was just about as perfect as you could have gotten after a harsh winter and hurricane season last year: temperate, a slight breeze, and a near perfect sky with the small floating puff of cloud, and a sun that could make just about anyone except a vampire smile.

The Kineticist had not made too much mention to anyone particular at the school, but there was a sign indicating that she was cooking up for whoever wanted to have a free bite at Oceania Park, along with sit down to some live music provided by her mother and sister on a nearby outdoor stage. She herself had brought both a coal and gas fired grill, suitable for cooking both hot dogs, burgers and some other interesting bites at the same time.

Lumine, lacking in coat, but donning an Apron of Professional Cooking +2 flipped a spatula around her finger, and only seconds flipped a burger in the air to land on a nearby bun adorned with the works. Excepting pickles on this one; pickles were just a disaster waiting to happen. About this time, the band started to die down a little bit, and Lumine gave them the stink-eye, the one that not even her mother ignored.

"Hey, come on! There's a crowd nearby, crank it up!"

Aurora looked back, shook her head slightly and smiled, slamming down on a cymbal and snare to start another song while Lumine took a plate with a burger and winged it at the first person to approach.

Several birds had come by to witness the spectacle.

"Catch!"

For a man with strong senses, a festival like this was almost overwhelming. There was music everywhere, people and… non-people dancing, the air full of smells.

Sasha wandered the grounds, taking in everything around him, subconsciously walking towards the smell of food. There was so much around he could barely keep up with it, choosing to focus on what was around him rather than what was in front of him – and so he completely missed the sound of someone speaking.

In fact he was completely bewildered when something soft hit his face, and even more confused when a burger fell upside-down into his hands, the plate following shortly thereafter.

There were a few sesame seeds on his face as he turned the burger and plate over, then looked for the source of the throwing.

He focused on the young woman at the barbeque, who looked the likeliest to have done it. “…Can I have this?”

"Why'd ya drag me here, Sis?" "I told you, sis. We gotta get you out more, We can't leave you cooped up forever." Dorito wore something skimpy and fashionable, as she was prone to do at festivals and parties like this. Her home was somewhat rural and traditional, and when she got out into the modern world, she took to it like a fish takes to water. Cheeto's attire was far less audacious, muted colors and a long skirt. "Come on, don't you wanna go dancing, Sis?" "Dancing? N-n-no thank's sis!" "Awww, Come onnnn!"

Dorito quickly pulled Cheeto's wrists, bringing her out onto the dance floor. Cheeto looked horrified, eyes wide and looking around nervously as Dorito started to move slowly at first, keeping the motion in her shoulders and hips. "Just like this, Cheeto! Pretend I'm the only one here and move just like this!" She raised her arms and brought them into it too, moving along a little more quickly. "L-Like this?" Cheeto started to move the way Dorito had earlier, swaying her hips and shifting her shoulders in rhythm to the music. "There you go! Keep it goin' hot stuff! You got it!" Dorito took Cheeto's hands and spun with her quickly, both sisters laughing as Cheeto started to get into it more. "You're right! You're right this is fun! Hahahahaha!" Cheeto laughed, she openly laughed and smiled to Dorito, who clapped her hands and stepped back, letting Cheeto have her moment in the sun, dancing much more freely and enjoying the feel of it, the way her body, her pulse, lined up with the beat of the music.

"I'm gunna be right back, my stud detector is pinging and what's party without a few boys~" Cheeto slinked away quietly through the crowd the way only a goblin could, shifting past people, around them, even through their legs and under them without being noticed, suddenly homing in on a potential target like a shark smelling blood. "C-Come back soon, sis..." Even when they're linked in mind and soul, Cheeto's movements became a little more clumsy, a little less energetic and free without Dorito there.

"We're at a BBQ, so I'll be back after I got myself a nice juicy sausage..." Dorito grinned to herself, moving through the crowd and looking around, feeling like she was truly in her element.

Lumine had barely given a second look to the person whom she had chucked the plate at with burger, but when it beaned his face and landed in front of him more or less intact, Lumine cringed slightly and went straight back to flipping a few burgers...making sure to be a little more subtle with her methods of food delivery. Although she got a surprise when instead of anger, she got a request to keep the thrown burger.

"I threw it at you, it's only fair that you keep it right? There's more here if you finish that one!"

The crowd was finally growing, and Lumine's little shindig had gotten some traction in the form of a pair of semi-rowdy dancers. The lady could only shake her head and laugh somewhat, not wanting to hurl a burger at them. She had gotten lucky once, and pressing that luck to start a fight wasn't on her list of priorities.

"Ribs are almost done!"

The Kineticist had gone close to all out, missing only filet mignon as something she didn't have cooking at the time.

"Invite your friends!"

If he threw something that hard at someone, it would be less because he wanted them to keep it and more because he hated them. He was only lucky the thing was soft…

Sasha wiped off his face and bit into his burger. It was the first thing he had eaten that day, and he relished it – it was warm and edible and vaguely tasty. What more could he want, when he’d been surviving on plain bread?

“You’re in the business of giving free food away, then?” A good person, he decided immediately. Definitely worth his time… and with interesting eyes, to boot. He made his way towards her barbeque and settled next to it comfortably. This was his last stop, yup. He could spend all day here. Possibly bring something home for dinner.

His eyes caught on an odd little pair of creatures in the crowd, uncertain what they were (besides from definitely not human). He couldn’t help but be surprised they had perfect English, and more so that the louder one seemed interested in catching a man for herself when there were clearly no other creatures of their type around – was she interested in humans, then? He couldn’t help but think cross-species relationships were a bit… odd.

Wait. Wasn’t she moving in his general direction? No, maybe there was someone else in the area, but… feeling mildly threatened, he stepped behind the young woman and her barbeque.

Besides, he could smell the food a little better from here.

"O-ohkay... J-Jus' dancing on my own. I can do that... Don't panic... Just keep... Keep moving." Cheeto kept herself in motion, swaying and shifting in tune with the beat, letting the music comfort her, feeling how it moved through her slight frame. She tried to keep a low profile, but a goblin out on the dance floor would have a hard time doing that without being trampled... She kept herself moving though, starting to put more energy into it, swaying and moving her arms, smiling again as she started to twirl every now and then, hair getting messed up and falling on her face. It didn't take long for Cheeto to bump into someone though, quickly recoiling and putting her hands up to her face in terror, staring up at the person she had intruded on. "Ohmygod! I'm sooooo sorry! I'll just... I was.... but... I... We... and... but..." All she could do was stutter and stumble over her words, trembling slightly at the thought of having messed up someone's fun on the dance floor.

"Is that... That's a target by the buffet!" At first, Dorito's course wasn't set, she was wandering and meandering and weaving in a vague direction, but Sasha had become her sudden target. She had suddenly locked her eyes on him and made a direct B-line for him, grinning from ear to ear as she passed through the crowd and trotted up to him, looking over at the food nearby then back over to him. "Well I certainly see something I wouldn't mind getting my mouth on." Dorito made damn sure she was looking Sasha in the eyes as she said that, still grinning before hastily picking up a burger of her own as well as some grilled chicken. "How's it goin'? I'm Dorito!"

"I got up on the right side of the bed today. I figure if everyone is going to be festive and cheerful, I do it too. And who doesn't love some good food right?"

Well, if there were any vegetarians around that were into that animal cruelty thing, they might not take kindly to Lumine's feast, but as far as the kineticist was concerned, salad was for rabbits, and she did not see any rabbits at the this festival besides maybe the stuffed ones that didn't eat anyways.

It was about that time that the reasonable conversation she had struck up in her spare time manning the large grill was about to take a strange turn. The man she was with had started to act slightly weird, finicky even as he made his way around the grill, staring off in the distance to the crowd.

It apparently didn't work, as while Lumine was flipping another burger something came out of the crowd and to the barbecue. Instead of striking a conversation with her however, this creature went straight after the man, but just after retrieving her own food first. Lumine couldn't help but snicker at the situation he had gotten himself into.

"Hey now, there's plenty of hotels around. Try not to get the food dirty, it's been on the grill long enough as it is."

“Well, I’m certainly not complaining.” Free food was the best food, in his opinion. He would have relaxed back there, except the little creature was clearly walking towards him, now, and making a rather poor attempt at flirting, too.

“Yes, I also have something I want to get my mouth on. It’s called a burger.” He bit into it again and chewed thoughtfully.

“Well, I’m unemployed, mostly out of money, somewhat confused, and being harassed by a small person named after a snack item, but other than that I’m quite well. And how are you two?“

Dorito toyed with the idea of using her powers on the smartass, maybe putting some more pleasing thoughts into his mind, warming him up to her a little. Nah, not right now at least. There's plenty of other guys out there... And hey, if he keeps being rude she can always go back on this decision, always make him much more agreeable. She grabbed the ketchup and some diced pickles, grinning and licking her lips as she drew a small smiley face in ketchup on her food.

Her eyes moved over to the girl cooking everything, raising one of her eyebrows at her remark about getting the food dirty. "Hey I washed my hands before I got here, chill out girl!" She kept grinning as she spoke, taking a large bite out of her burger as she turned her eyes back up to the guy... Wait did he just admit to being a hobo? "Bit let down honestly, got the cold shoulder from some guy..." She feigned a yawn and took another bite of her burger. "Damn this is good!"

There was love in the air, that was for sure. The poor sucker that was munching on just about everything had to offer also had a counterbalance: the possible displeasure of what was a very flirty goblin or gremlin or whatever. Although in all honesty, Lumine wondered why he wasn't going to reciprocate. She didn't bad looking...or dangerous for that matter.

Frankly, it just looked like an outgoing creature want a friend or two. Lumine wasn't into the ladies, but she could understand what the goblin wanted.

"Hey hey, I was kidding, don't get worked up! I would hope the food is good, the guy I got the beef from was peddling it at a good deal...kind of suspicious if you ask me. Anyways, I'm doing okay...mostly, hold on."

Lumine dropped her spatula for a moment and looked up at the band.

"Hey! Jazz it up a little bit! And not actual jazz!"

Not that Lumine had anything against jazz; it just wasn't fitting for an outdoor party. However, the result of her snap was hilarious at best.

"Well...I guess I'm doing alright, but I wish they'd play more upbeat stuff. Ah well. Are you both affiliated with the school in some way? I expected more students, but they seem to have gone by the wayside."
