Thiul wasn't entirely sure how Huilu had talked her into this dress. Thiul did see it was gorgeous, she wasn't blind, but it was hard to move in and her legs were already crippled enough. Thiul wasn't one to suffer any extra trouble just to look good, so this felt pretty unnatural for her. But it had already been done, Thiul was in this fancy getup, and Huilu had helped her create an ice mask on her face that matched with the dress.
Thiul stood in front of her mirror, squinting at her reflection. She hadn't bothered with any makeup, Thiul's skin was pretty much flawless and lips pink enough to look like they had lipstick on them. She felt like putting her doctor's jacket on top of this to make it more like her but she was going to see Huilu at the ball, and Thiul didn't want to risk disappointing Huilu, or worse, angering her. That woman was even scarier than Thiul when mad.

Hal was out, Thiul had extended his curfew today since she and Huilu had needed some peace to dress. Huilu was already gone to the ball, and Thiul was just waiting on Titus, who was the reason she was going in the first place. He had asked her to go with him, and Thiul had to admit she was looking forward to this. Titus was good company and Thiul was interested in seeing what kind of event a masquerade was. She remembered that while in college her classmates had thrown masquerades but Thiul had never gone, she had concentrated on studying. And the one time she did party, well...
Thiul stood outside her and Hal's rented apartment, there was a chill in the air but Thiul barely felt it. She was absently tapping her ice cane against the ground, which also matched her outfit. In fact her whole outfit was centered around ice. But that fit Thiul perfectly, so she actually quite liked it. Not that you'd get her to say it. Now all that was left was for Titus to show up.

Titus arrived right around the time they'd agreed on to meet at. He'd rented out a rather nice limo for them to head to the ball in. Orsick was rather strongly encouraging Titus to actually go through with a date this year for once. Thiul was actually the only person he liked enough to even go through with asking. So far it seemed like an excellent choice.

When the driver opened his door, he got out, looking her up and down. This was almost a different person. He was so used to Thiul in her doctor's outfit that seeing her in this dress was... well... impressive. Titus was dressed in a rather ornate military officer's uniform. More or less the standard issue formal wear for the Drakenhardts. His mask was black, but appeared to have a smokey flow to its colors upon closer inspection.

"Well now, look at you. I'm gonna have trouble taking my eyes off you tonight," he grinned, extending a hand for her to take to lead her to the limo.

Titus arrived on time, and Thiul raised a brow at the limo and driver. Suppose you could expect that from Drakenhardts, rich as they were. Besides, she wasn't complaining. Thiul had never been in a limo, and had only seen one once or so.
Just as Titus looked her up and down Thiul did the same to Titus. Not bad at all. Thiul wasn't the right person to judge if Titus' outfit was actually nice or not, but it suited him, as did his mask, and that was the most important thing to her.

Thiul let out an amused scoff at what Titus said to her and grinned a bit back, taking his hand with the one she wasn't holding her cane with.
"A simple 'You look good' would've sufficed, how dramatic. As for you..."
Thiul took one more look at Titus. She was probably going to be doing that some amount tonight.
"I'll be able to take my eyes off you, but that doesn't mean I don't like what I see."
Titus better be content with that, it was as close as Thiul could get to saying 'You look handsome'.

Titus expected that snarky response to her. It was good enough for him. He'd more or less planned to put all his chips in for the night with Thiul. He grinned in response to her comment and extended a hand for her to take and lead her back to the limo.

Their trip wouldn't be a particularly long one. Once they arrived Titus would of course head into the ballroom with Thiul. "What do you want to do first?"

The limo was underwhelming and impressive at the same time. It really was meant for comfortable travelling with the soft seats and mini fridge and fucking tv. But Thiul couldn't help but wonder how meaningless the whole thing felt to her, to make a vehicle meant to take you places but you could live in it.
Normally Thiul would've voiced it all, but she had decided to at least try and play bit nicer than usual. A bit.
Well, she commented on the mini fridge once, but that was small in comparison to what she could've said.

At the ball, or more precisely the ballroom, Thiul took the big room in. It was impressive and even Thiul could see that the decorations were beautiful. As expected from an island filled with people with flashy powers.
Thiul looked at Titus when he asked his question, and then looked back at the ballroom.
"I have never been to one of these masquerades. What else do you do besides dancing and eating?"

"Play guess who's behind the mask. That's kinda easy though if you can smell em though. Honestly these things are either really fun or really boring," he shrugged and glanced around. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, he even spotted a couple of his relatives in the crowd. It was easy to pick them out with their similar outfits and masks that seemed to fit whatever element they happened to command. 3

"You up for a dance?"

"Really fun or really boring. Sounds like a big gamble."
Thiul answered with an amused tone and scanned the crowd, doing the guessing game Titus had proposed. Thiul thought she saw a glimpse of blue hair, probably Huilu, by the refreshments table, and she also recognized one or two Drakenhardts and some patients. And she squinted at someone she thought was Shiro. She'd have to ask the girl at their next appointment.
"Since it seems like this night is a gamble anyway, would you care for a bet? Whoever recognizes the most people wins."

Thiul made a slight face at the thought of dancing, she really didn't have good memories of dancing. Besides, she didn't know how to ballroom dance. Though she probably could learn on the fly, she was very intelligent.
"I don't dance, especially ballroom dance. The last time I danced it ended with me punching my partner, after all."

"You're on ice queen," he grinned agreeing to the bet. Well things shouldn't be too boring with Thiul around. They had a pretty nice dynamic, no matter how hard she might try to deny it. That said, she wasn't totally up for dancing. This was honestly fine on the one hand, but he was also sure he could put her previous partners to shame. He opted to listen to his more reckless side.

"Well that guy sucked, probably couldn't match you in a fight either. I've danced before, but never with anyone I really liked. I wouldn't mind, if you wouldn't mind. It's not so hard to catch on to, you just have to keep step."

Thiul couldn't help but grin a bit back when Titus agreed to the bet, at least they had something to do this evening. As for Titus' answer to Thiul's comment about dancing, she narrowed her eyes at him a bit. Was he trying to rile Thiul up, or trying to woo her? Because he was succeeding, more in riling up but not completely failing at the wooing either.
"He was a human, if he would've matched me in a fight I wouldn't be here, I would be training for the next 500 years."
As for catching on to dancing, Thiul felt insulted Titus even considered learning something as simple as that dance was hard for her.
"If I'm able to memorize books within 2 minutes I'd learn a dance such as this within seconds."
The moment Thiul said those words she knew she had lost. Well, she wasn't sure if it could be called a loss, since she wasn't put off by the thought of dancing with Titus. But he would never be able to get Thiul to admit it.

Titus half squinted at this response. Was that a yes? He wasn't sure how he should take it. His Thiul translator was processing the sentence. Seemed to be leaning towards a yes, he was gonna go with yes.

"Don't worry, it'll be fun," he smiled, leading her out to the dance floor. Titus made a mental note to keep Thiul's status in mind. Just in case she needed to take a break or sit. Of course, he wouldn't just say that outright, just play it off as something else. "I'll lead, and keep it pretty simple."
