Kintaru raised an eyebrow. "What? Your father was WHAT? I don't understand." He glanced up as Ezmerelda departed. "Fare thee well. And may the spirits keep you while you slumber." He turned back to Aelmyr. "If you were saying that your father was an Abhorsen, that's impossible. You would have to be much older than you appear. Because I was my father's only child. There is no way you were his child. So please, explain what you mean," he said, a look of careful concern on his face.

Kintaru nodded as understanding dawned on him. "Oh. He was a TRUE Necromancer. Using the Dead to cause as much chaos as possible." He sighed. "He was probably the first one I ever fought, if he was still alive seven or so years ago." He shook his head. "So you have a milder form of his ability, then?"

Kintaru nodded. "That in itself can be dangerous," he said with a grimace, remembering the last denizen he had encountered. That had not been a fun night. He shuddered. "Next time, make sure you have me close when you do that. I need to check on something, if you don't mind."

Kintaru smiled at her obvious confusion. "It's for your own good. If I'm right, then even speaking to the Dead can bring out some of the more dangerous ones. And you could be a very powerful magnet." He shook his head. "Just remember what I said."

Kintaru shook his head. "We shall see. Trust me, there are some nasty creatures that you do NOT want to meet. Hell, I don't want to meet them." He shuddered slightly, remembering the lessons that he had been given, concerning the denizens that dwelt between the Eighth and Ninth Gates. "I'm not concerned about JUST you. I'm concerned about the whole school," he said, covering the fact that he found her quite attractive.
