Enjoying the breeze

Sitting by the water, Farrion began to watch the people near it. Noticing no one there, he diverted his attention instead to the water, and his thought over took him...

Shirese yawned, observing the boy with just an iota of interest flickering in her hazel eyes. She was bored, had been all day. There was nothing, absolutely nothing for a girl like her to do at the retched mess of a school, so she'd escaped for the evening.

Another yawn stretched her pale lips, and she slipped down from the small dune from which she'd been spying on the lone male. She brushed the sand from her jeans, pulling her blond hair back in a tight ponytail and cocking her gun. If he was interesting, perhaps she'd talk to him a bit - if not, there were other ways to cure her boredom.

She came to a stop directly behind the boy, toes digging idly at the sand. "What are you doing?" She tilted her head to one side in semi-interest, chewing on her lip thoughtfully.

His thoughts went back to his family, and he wondered what they were doing. It was the time of the week when his brother went to Youth Group with his friends. He missed his brother. He wondered if his brother missed him.

Then, while he was deep in his thoughts and he wasn't using his senses, a girl approached him. When she spoke to him, he jumped out of shock. He then turned around, taking in the girl.

He noticed the gun she had hiding, and then with his powers, behind her, so she wouldn't notice, he lifted all the sand in the air and piled it next to his newly constructed hole, ready to put the guy in there if she tried to pull anything.

"I'm not up to anything, just thinking, what about you?"

She shrugged lightly, twirling the gun around her trigger finger. "Trying to decide if it'd be worth it to shoot you in the arm." A pause - she made a face, although the boy wasn't able to see it from where he was standing. "Probably not. I hate counseling."

This decided, she shoved the gun back in the leather holster handing around her waist flickering a brief glance of annoyance at the pit he'd somehow dug. She side stepped around it, dropping down on a nearby rock and resting her chin on one drawn-up leg. "What's your name." It was hardly a question; she rolled her eyes as if she were a service rep who had to ask that question every day, and hated it. "I'm Shirese, if you want to talk or something - if you don't, please tell me now so I don't waste my time." She smiled politely, not exactly trying to be rude, although it was hard to tell from listening to her.

Farrion was mesmerized. Why did this girl come over to tlak to him if she planned on tormenting me?

"My name is Farrion, how do you do?" he said, bowing his head. Then he sat down inf ront of her, facing her.

"I," she announced, absent mindedly examining her fingernails, "do very well, thank you very much." She paused a minute, chewing on one and staring off at the horizon.

"So you do wish to talk?" She frowned, wondering why she alluded to the idea that she wanted to converse with anyone in the first place. Ah well, at least it would break the mind-blowing monotony of the day...

She squinted lightly, guessing what he was thinking. "Ever heard of a cat, playing with a mouse before devouring it?" She grinned, patting him on the shoulder. "Not that you'd be as easy to take out as a mouse, dear. I'm sure you'd be a sizable rat, at least."

After she said that, Farrion knew he wnted nothing to do with her. She'd be more likely to attack him then talk to him and he'd rather not get mixed up in this sort of game.

"It was nice meeting you, i must head out"

Shirese sighed, throwing her head back and staring at the sky as if he hadn't said anything. "I've been watching you." Her eyes slid over to the boy, one eyebrow rising as if this was something important. "You don't do anything. Just sit around, being sad." She stood up, eyes rolling as she easily disarmed the weapon. "And I think - what kind of person can be sad, homesick, whatever you are, and not show it as well as you?"

She shook her head lightly, her bangs falling loose; she pawed at them absent mindedly in a futile attempt to get them out of her eyes. "Perhaps he'd be interesting to talk to, hmm? Get him to reveal any sort of emotion?"

She looked down, grinned. "I never said I would actually shoot you... You're very cautious, aren't you?" If she were him, she'd totally risk a bullet in the arm to talk to her. She laughed at her silent joke, pearly white teeth glinting in the pale light of the sun. "Nice meeting you, anyway."
