English honors class...NOT!

In order to take this class students had been graded on their ability to adapt details of language arts skills. Those that had were admitted to English Honors Composite studies. Basically what the title of the class was going to force the students to become fluent in English as well as Japanese, and Russian. The class was going to be hell but students who passed it would be able to take any other course and get into any program in the school that they wanted.

The reason Nakata had decided to teach the class was because of the American students primarily. Several of them showed great aptitude but they were, by nature of American school systems, only fluent in one language... English. In order to broaden their horizons, help them apply themselves, and provide an opportunity for the betterment of the future, Nakata had created a course so impossibly difficult that any student who passed it would be among the most desirable students in the world.

One of the students that had passed was technically cheating in that the nature of his abilities allowed him to simply download information, wirelessly at that, so that he could speak the languages. He'd be a shoe in for the U.N. translator contracts but not without something causing them to take notice. Others would undoubtedly fall into this category but others would have a true aptitude for linguistics. He didn't know what he looked forward to teaching the most but he looked forward to it anyway.

(OOC: feel free to bring anything you know about foreign languages to the table and share, i like to learn new things.)

Damien walked into the classroom and took a seat at the table. The test had seemed weird and he had been forced to download language processors into his e-brain in order to pass it. For an English test it was certainly in depth about other languages besides english... thus he figured the class was going to force people to memorize entire dictionaries worth of information of the language. Despite his intelligence Damien hadn't figured out that the class was going to be just an English class.

He hadn't bought any textbooks yet as the textbooks for the class hadn't been announced. In fact the description of the class had said that the textbooks would be announced in class. The teacher was the same person who had recommended that he take the class in the first place and who also taught science. Obviously the guy's life was dedicated to teaching because that seemed to be all he did from 6am to 9pm. Despite it all, he took his seat at the front of the classroom as that was the most logical thing to do and rested quietly waiting for class to begin in about thirty minutes at 11am.

  • Nicodemus technically wasn't a college professor, but when the Headmistress had informed him there was a class that demanded students learn many languages, the vampire simply couldn't resist. Age and time had given him aptitude in multitudes of languages and this certainly was something he was looking forward to. Just thinking about it was delightful, and knowing that he could help a young generation learn foreign languages got Nicodemus riled up.

When he arrived to the classroom, Nicodemus knocked on the door to signal he had arrived. "Sorry I'm slightly tardy," he apologized, adjusting his tie. "Had a hold up in another classroom. I'm Mr. Nicodemus, the Headmistress sent me to help in any way that's needed." He walked to the front of the classroom then, holding his hand out for a handshake.[/list:u]

Nakata shook his head as the new teacher walked in.
"Well it would seem only one student has made it here on time. I doubt we'll be able to hold this class for more than a week." He said to Mr. Nicodermus. Though if the headmistress had sent him she might have known something that he didn't.
"I'm Professor Ishikawa. Pleased to meet you." He added. He had to admit it was nice to have one student, but in hindsight he might have made the test too difficult. In his time when he was a student here there would have been at least five that would have passed it with flying colors and more from students that he just barely knew.
"Did she happen to give you some sort of roster of students that would be attending, I seem to be missing a number of bits of paperwork."

Damien was pretty calm about the class, he hadn't even activated his emotional suppressors that morning. Nevertheless he waited patiently as the professor talked with another well dressed professor and judging from the somber look, was not expecting a lot more students, the conclusion reinforced with the fact that there were none that had arrived here yet. He'd already been in one of Ishikawa's classes and wasn't surprised, the powers class tests had left people a little wary about the difficulty of his courses.

  • Nicodemus looked around at the seemingly vacant classroom. Indeed, this wasn't the most popular class! "The pleasure is all mine," he assured.

When asked about the roster, Nicodemuus shook his head. "She didn't give me any such list, but she implied this class would be a handful for one to teach. She told me the classroom was intended to be completely full today."[/list:u]
