Ellyn: Alternate picture

Ellyn walks with a robust confidence; her shoulders are firm, body lithe, and chin raised. Her most predominant feature is her ice-green eyes, which take her surroundings and the people around her in with keen intellect. She speaks surprisingly soft for the confidence she emits, and it is rare for her to shout, even in anger. She is evidently in shape, with a good portion of muscle on her legs, stomach, and arms. Ellyn possesses a dancer's body; that's to say she is toned and long-limbed. Her bust is slight as is the curve of her waist, but her hips are thick, her legs are long and toned, and her stomach is flat and toned.

Her skin is pale, and her hair is maroon, lightly curled at the bottom (frames her face). The curls become looser as her hair grows out. Her features are sharp, and her irises darken to a near black at their border.

She has a black tattoo of a downward arrow with a compass at its midsection (spanning a large portion of her mid-back) each fetching is arched inward at the middle then fanned out at the tips like two flower petals; the arrow follows her spine, directly at the end of the neck to the waist.

Ellyn is intelligent, confident, and friendly. She has the tendency to get along with nearly everyone while not being a doormat. For the most part, Ellyn is a true neutral alignment, meaning she does things to protect her friends and her people. She doesn't care whether someone is evil, good, or anywhere in between, if they're considered her friend, she'll stand up for them verbally and physically.

While being physically weaker than the majority of people in Manta Carlos, Ellyn doesn't let this get her down. She has a surplus of mental fortitude, bordering stubbornness.

She enjoys learning and has a very adaptive personality. Many times, despite her friendliness, she has trouble feeling close to people or feeling in sync with the people around her. Her pursuit of personal knowledge has the tendency to get her into trouble, as any curious situation she sees going on around her, she'll spy on, or speak to any person, no matter how dangerous they seem.

Ellyn switches between sarcasm and innocent humor and loves to play pranks on people. Her personality, at times, can come off naive and immature, but this in part has to do with Ellyn's lack of care for social standards or structures.

Full of contradictions, Ellyn doesn't care how she may come off at any given moment. She enjoys living in the second and rarely thinks before giving her opinion. She is most certainly a perfectionist and a workaholic.

Ellyn met Akane in the library late one night. They got into a lengthy discussion about cultures, magic, and Manta Carlos' history. While talking, Akane suggested they study together from time to time. Akane seems kind enough for Ellyn to consider her a friend, though they haven't spent any long periods of time together.

Ellyn and Emily don't get along in the least, but Ellyn refuses to move out from her newly acquired dorm room. Mostly, they seem to just try and stay out of each others way. When speaking to one and other, both of them talk excessively sweet.

Ellyn doesn't know Kaize well, but she's been learning how to fight using a staff from him. She admires his intelligence and is even a little intimidated by all the knowledge he posses.

Having survived Kyros tsunami with Ophion, Ellyn feels an intense (sudden) since of affection for Ophion. She might proclaim him her friend, but logically she understands they don't know each other well enough to be considered that close. However, the disaster did leave Ellyn wanting to know Ophion better.

PSYCHIC SHIELD

This ability grants Ellyn resistance to all mental attacks and powers on her person. She cannot offer anyone else this protection, but she can actively hold the shield back to allow mental powers to effect her (IE: if she someone wants to use telepathy on her). As she reaches adulthood and her powers grow, she will be able to hold her shield back for five minutes, as of now, she can only do so for one minute.

She is not completely immune to mental magic, but the magic's effect on her is lessened and often sporadic. Stronger mental attacks, usually those by people of great power and concentration, will affect her, but not as much as someone without mental resistance. Approximately, her magic resists 75-80% of offensive mental magic. Strong magic can have other, unforeseen adverse effects on Ellyn, especially when she is tired or ill.

The abilities that do not effect Ellyn, she will simply not notice were taking place in the first place. (IE: Passive magic that effects the emotions of people around the person with the magic). Her resistance only works on magic aimed in some way at her; that is to say, illusions and glamour still work on her as well as on anyone else. She cannot see past other people's disguises.

The visions that would be given to seers would be unfocused and lack cohesion.

Born in rural New York, Ellyn enjoys and is very used to heavy snow and the cold. She grew up in a stern but loving family, with several brothers and sisters. She was the second youngest in the family, and so was doomed to the position of one of the middle children.

For the most part, Ellyn's life was dull, until she came to realize she had magic abilities. It was at this point that her family sent her off to Manta Carlos.

To Ellyn, this was a dream come true. It was time for adventure, freedom, and learning. She was doubly excited to get to spend time with many mythological beings up close and person, as she has always held an intense interest in the creatures.
