El’Hashem Jewellers is owned and operated by Rahim El’Hashem, a serious, quiet man. He typically is off-putting at first to many of his clientele at first as he does not have the friendliest appearance or mannerisms, but he lets his works speak for themselves and has built himself a healthy client list, enough that his shop has remained in the black for several years.
El’Hashem Jewellers is a quaint two-story brick building nestled in among other businesses. Gold lettering on the large front window declares the name of the shop and a sign on the door declares that they’re open Monday-Friday 10am-5:30pm, with appointments available other times upon request and a phone number for the shop just below.
The front room is cozy with a table and chairs set up in the center of the room for consultations. Glass counters containing jewelry line two of the walls with a wooden staircase taking up the third. Several signs are up declaring that custom jewelry is made upon request. Behind the counters are bookshelves. Some shelves actually do contain books and others have mobile display cases with more pieces of jewelry. On the ends of the counters are thick, embossed books with photos of Rahim’s past works.
A door behind the counter leads to Rahim’s workshop, safely fireproofed and filled with raw materials and in-progress works. Up the stairs is Rahim’s two-bedroom apartment.
