So, as a start, I will say that this wanted ad is more of a backstory prompt for anyone making a character. If you've got a character with some peculiar stuff to them that you're struggling to come up with a backstory for due whatever reasons, this could be a pretty good prompt for your characters.

Here's where we start. The whole idea is characters that come from an alternate dimension for some reason none of them really know. For the most part, characters are just kind of dropping in out of nowhere with foggy memory on how they actually ended up there. The world that these characters come from is an alternate Earth. In that alternate Earth, the idea of magic, different species, advanced technology, aliens, etc was common and accepted. However, one day, a new species appeared which was highly controversial for reasons now unknown. This ended up in a war, mostly between different species. Either way, it ended with the world become a dystopian settings. Some places remained pretty functional but became less desirable, while others became wastelands with no law.
The place these characters would come from would be the wastelands of America. Civilisations are few, in small clusters, but they exist. The main one I want to focus is one of the larger cities, known as Oasis Central. It's a decently large city built on the remains of New York, and as the population of the city grows, it is gradually expanding outwards. It has several factions within the city, the leaders of each faction are representatives in the government of the city. There are 6 unique factions, and 1 general faction.
The Sentinels - The Sentinels are basically the police and military of the city. They get the final say on the laws that are passed and are the ones you go through for issues with the laws. They are the guards and perform frequent patrols. On the general look, the Sentinels are actually morally good for the most part and don't abuse their power. However, there can always be corrupt Sentinels, or those who use their position for bad purposes. Although a military faction, many of the members can go their entire service without having to fight.

The Rangers
- The Rangers are the other official military group for the city. The difference is their place of operation. The Rangers periodically leave the city to go out into the wasteland for various purposes. This can be to get resources, find more people, deliver messages. The reason the specific group exists is because the wasteland is dangerous with many raiders and cutthroats. They are trained to fight and to do their job. Additionally, they are the only group who are able to leave and return to the city whenever they please. Although not illegal, leaving and/or entering the city without receiving permission is generally not approved. When they are out in the wasteland, a Ranger can do whatever they please and will receive no repercussion from the laws within the city. The Rangers are generally adventurous, overconfident, and 'the jocks' of the factions. However there can of course be differences. Has the highest death rate out of any of the groups, with most members dying in their 20s. Most members will be in a life threatening fight at least once.

The Gladiators - At first glance, the Gladiators can seem like another military group but none of the members are military trained. Actually, as a whole, the Gladiators are likely the most diverse group in terms of roles. Their job is to keep morale high. This is done with the arena. The arena is where combatants will fight each other, either to incapacitation or even death. The group became a political faction due to massive popularity. The group is the most diverse as there is an arena council, the fighters themselves, medical staff, fixers for equipment and the arena itself, food staff, and technical staff who allow tournaments to be viewed. Either at the arena, or on the crude television system the city has. There is no general personality for this group. Fights to the death are not mandatory, so deaths aren't too common. Most members are on the younger side due to performance, but the non-fighting staff can be any age. Most fighters have fought prior to being in the arena, and could've even belonged to the Sentinels or Rangers prior to the Gladiators. There are not many fighters whose first fight is done in the arena.

The Bankers - Their name is pretty descriptive for their purpose. They are the ones in charge of currency within the city, and ensure that currencies being used are reliable. They are the ones who will negotiate trades with outside settlements and groups. If a new shop is being set up, or someone is putting forward a new currency, then it will need to be approved by the Bankers. If a trade is done, and for some reason it ends undesirable, the issue can be brought to the Bankers who can allow punishment from the Sentinels. Bankers are generally pretty intelligent, with most members coming from wealthier families within the city and having snobbier personalities. However, they are very focused and will get a task done as quickly and efficiently as they can. Very reliable.

The Scrappers - The Scrappers serve as the scientists and the engineers for the city. They're usually working pretty closely with all the factions for various reasons. They work closest with the Rangers and Stitchers. The Scrappers are the ones who will receive broken technology from before the war. They try to unlock the past, and to build a new future for the city. They make new technologies, theories and do all the discoveries. Although there isn't much to their jobs, they're pretty important. The Scrappers are generally intelligent, but don't necessarily come from wealthier families. They have eccentric personalities, but also creative minds. A less intelligent character can get away in the Bankers and Stitchers, but they cannot get away with it in the Scrappers.

The Stitchers - The Stitchers are the doctors and healthcare system for the city. They are the ones who perform diagnosis and checkups, and decide what treatments someone has. They've got to be pretty morally strong, as sometimes they have to be the ones who decides who lives and who dies. There aren't enough resources to treat everyone so they have to prioritise who gets what treatment when. They work closely with pretty much all of the groups due to uses of resources, use of research from the Scrappers, and application of their skills to all groups, especially the three fighting factions. The members in this group can be intelligent, but many members can get by due to the roles Stitchers can be. However most members are pretty empathetic and have a strong sense of good and bad.

Along with the factions, the people of the city will elect a leader. This leader is the main leader of the government, and are the representative of the people. Although the leader of the government, they must still pass processes through the necessary factions.

A created character can be a member of any of these factions. Feel free to message about what roles are in these factions. They can also not be a member of any of the factions and be a citizen with a different job. Any character could’ve previously been in any of the factions. A character could be from the outside of the city. Raiders or roomers. If interested to make a character, I’d recommend messaging me to iron out any details. I’m also willing for characters to come from other settlements, including in other countries. If you have an idea what could be the situation in a certain country, feel free to throw the idea my way. I will list the other countries if they get any ideas.

Characters from this dimension can have plots together, or plots regarding their integration with a society massively different to the one they came from. Characters can have any abilities, be any species, etc. All works decently well with the setting. If you have an original species idea you think could work around the setting, feel free to throw the idea. I am currently doing brainstorming on the species that ultimately resulted in the war, and could possibly become playable characters in the future.
