Ghum had prepared for this moment for a long time. Well when he realized it was actually possible for him to get rid of the annoying hold his father had over him.

He could finally be rid of Dionte's body and stop living his life because honestly? Ghum could not deal with Dionte's shitty back problems and the inability to grow a full beard. Oh, and the bald spot. The fucking bald spot.
Not only that the terms he agreed upon required him to pay the bills and do all this other crap for such a shitty apartment Dionte lived in.

That's not even counting the real shady shit Dionte had going on.
But it was all so worth it to screw over his dad. Totally worth it.

Now here Ghum was back at the same place he was originally summoned at.

"So we do the ritual, you bind me to you which will break the bind I have with Andras, then hop out Dionte's body and then we kill Dionte?"
He was straight faced. It was very hard to tell if he was joking or being serious.

"...I'm joking."

Chloe gave him a strained smile. As much empathy as she had for Ghum, the kinds of cultural barriers he had to overcome here could wear at her patience. They certainly weren't good for optics.

"I should hope so."

Most of the preparation was already done. All the symbols were drawn up on a big piece of canvas. Chloe explained where she would stand, and where Ghum would kneel, and what he would do with the candles, the incense, and so on. A tub of water lay in the corner of the room, moving in ways water was not supposed to move.

The last piece of the puzzle was the thing Ghum needed to recite - and Chloe had been holding that back until he was in the building with her. She had it written on a piece of paper, and it contained her true name. He needed to memorize it just long enough to perform the ritual. They would be incinerating it after the ritual was done.

"Now, tell me when you've memorized this," Chloe told him. "And... Well, ok. Now that I'm thinking of it, what do we do about Dionte? He's not going to do anything crazy here when he takes over, is he?"

The things he needed to do to give his dad a big fuck you was.......eh. It was all worth it sure but the kneeling? Maybe it was because he was a demon lord; he just really did not like that kneeling part compared to everything else he had to do.

"This is..." he squintted at the piece of paper. Ghum read it over in his head as many times he needed to get it. "Cute name you got there. Waaaaay different than Chloe."

Ghum let out a laugh when Chloe brought up the Dionte thing.
"Dionte's haaaarmless. Plus it might take him a bit to wake up....I think. Don't qoute me on that one."

Lucky him, he brought a bag of...things. "But if you are so concerned I got those really weird fluffy handcuffs for him in that bag. It should be fine though."

Her true name was... cute? "Uh, thanks. Just - don't go telling it to people I haven't already told. That's probably the only thing I'm going to be a hardass with you about." He should understand why.

She laughed a little at the fuzzy handcuffs. "Well... I'm glad you came prepared. But I feel like we should come up with a way to thank him, after you're free. Even if he didn't exactly do this for you out of the kindness of his heart... I dunno. At least, I'd want to keep hard feelings to a minimum. Up to you if you want to do that sort of thing."

Wait a second. He just happened to be bringing a bag with fuzzy handcuffs in them? "...What else is in the bag?" Her expression didn't give anything away about what she was thinking, or how she felt about it.

"I won't I won't. That would be dumb and probably just fuck me over too anyway. I already got to worry about Jude boy." Ghum let out a very long and exaggerated groan.

He made a face when Chloe mentioned thanking Dionte. Was that really needed?
"Thank him? Eh I was thinking about blackmailing him or being the good samaritan and leaving a very anonymous tip to the police." He didn't want to go fully in detail why but at the same time he probably should.

She wanted to know what was in the bag too? There wasn't really anything super crazy in there other than those photos he had.
"There is a lot in this bag. Some clothes, Dionte's favorite beer, some good ol' blackmail photos of his drug stash, and um, some other junk. Why?"

Ghum took a moment and just stared at the bag. "I guess I won't need those photos then. Since I'm turning a new leaf and all....... Is that the right phrase?"

The bag wasn't anything Chloe thought it might be. She wouldn't explain why she asked - but she had other, more pressing questions now. Such as:

"That's the right phrase, but, okay, what kind of legal situation are you getting entangled in here? You'd call the cops because...?"

"Apparently Dionte's a drug dealer...or he just like hoarding drugs." He shrugged. Honestly? It did not seem much of a big deal for Ghum. If people want drugs then let them have it.

"Plus I'm sure people are or was suspecting it before I took over but I didn't know until after the fact."

He just shook his head.
"But we are getting side tracked here! We can discuss this once I'm out his body."

Chloe took a breath. "Fair enough." She was going to do this with him either way, she decided. "I'll just... have to remember to say everything as suggestions, when we talk about it." Ghum would know why - he would be bound to her word when this was over, but Chloe still wanted to respect his will whenever possible. If Ghum wanted to narc on his host, Chloe didn't feel that she had the right to stop him.

Now, Chloe would help him begin the ritual. She list a few candles for him, except for the ones he had to light himself, and she gave him a few last-minute tips that he might not have even needed.

Soon, it would begin.

The moment Chloe accepted his ritualistic offer of service, Ghum would feel it. An overwhelming sense that he had been stolen. Emotional pain. Guilt - no matter how well he knew that he didn't owe his father anything. He would feel drained, and perhaps even a little scared. And just as all these feelings began to hit him, the candles would blow out.

Chloe tried not to smile. Having someone pledge himself to her felt incredible. She didn't know it would feel this way. She didn't want it to feel this way.

"Yeah yeah, no big deal" He was dismissive about it to be honest he didn't really care he just wanted to ruin this dude's life.

Ghum did all the things that he was supposed to do properly. He lit the candles and blah blah blah, offering his service to Chloe. It was pretty chill really until he started feeling weird.

What he was feeling was hard for him to describe since he literally never felt any of these feelings before....other than being tired. Dionte's body and his shitty mortal problems.

"I don't feel so good....I feel really....really ew."
Ghum just frowned. It will probably pass, he figured it was some shitty side symptoms. Fuck that.

"Yeah," Chloe said. "This is the sucky part I told you about. If it's like what happened to me, it should wear off." She didn't remember exactly how long it took. An hour or two, maybe? She wanted to say it got better after... half an hour? But that was just her. It could be different for Ghum.

"I guess now isn't the best time to ask how it feels to be a free man. Or a free demon, if you prefer... I have a small number of things I expect of you, but they basically amount to 'don't do things that'll ruin my life.' Like the telling a bunch of people my true name thing. I'm not planning to order you around and make you do a lot of stuff you don't want. But... I have that whole thing for this written up. I'll read it to you before you leave."

She would save the rest of the speech for later. For now...

"First things first though. What do we do about Dionte?"
