Don't let anybody get in your way

"Oh cool," Gabe replied, he wasn't going to admit to William that he hadn't heard of Barrington. "It nice there?" He asked. "I'm from Uruguay although I grew up in Queens, so I guess I'm really from New York." He laughed.

"Okay kid, I'm glad to hear," Gabe was gullible enough about stuff like this and if William said he was fine then Gabe saw no reason to think otherwise, he didn't think people lied about that.

"Yeah college," Gabe repeated. "Don't worry though it doesn't mean I'm gonna think any less of you for bein' in high school. Though you still haven't told me what grade you're in?" He patted William on the head, "Bill, it's okay if I call you Bill right? Anyways don't worry, you seem to be talking just fine to me." He encouraged.

<div align=center>William let out such a loud squeak as the other boy touched his head that he had to clap his hands over his mouth. He hunched his shoulders again, "yeah I guess that's okay." He squeaked, his gaze darting away from Gabe and back to the gravel underneath him. His nerves, he realized, were most likely down to the fact that overall Gabe was attractive. Moreso than anyone else he'd chosen to focus on; at least, he'd decided. It was a few minutes before William finally chose to look at Gabe again, there was an air about him that made him feel a little more relaxed than other people had, you seem to be talking just fine to me. Gabriel was so calm, and that was evidently effecting William to some extent, he took a breath, and let his shoulders relax.

Queens. Will had never been there, he'd seldom stepped out of Illinois, now he thought about it, which must have been why he felt so strange and out of place here. "Oh.." He'd forgotten Gabe had asked the question, and frowned at himself. "Senior year," a small, coy smile crossed his features and he tilted his head a short way at the other boy. He pushed his hat forwards a short way, he had half a mind to pry, but that wasn't the right thing to do and Bill knew it. It'd wear him out anyway, he wanted to nap anyway, doing that would only make the feeling worse.</div>

Gabe quirked an eyebrow when the boy squeaked but didn't say anything. He didn't want to give William any reason to feel shy around him so pointing out moments when William was obviously nervous around him would not help.

"Great," Gabe smiled, "Bill is a cute nickname, don't you agree?" He chuckled, "speaking of nicknames did I ever tell you what all the chicks call me?" He spoke to William as if they had known each other forever, "Gabey baby." He winked, "you can call me that too if you wish." It was unclear as to whether he was joking or not however with Gabriel's sense of humour, he most likely was.

Senior year, Gabe mulled it over, the boy wasn't as young as he had thought, granted he was still very young. Yet Gabe suddenly didn't feel as pedophilic recognising that William was ridiculously hot.

<div align=center>William chose to pass by the comment about nicknames, deciding against making Gabriel feel like a fool. He glanced down to his feet again, going pale all of a sudden. Blood has seeped through the knees of his jeans, soaking the grey denim a dark, crimson colour. A strange feeling overcame Bill's head, making him feel dizzy, and causing him to stumble backwards a few feet. "Oh.. Oh dear.. I'm bleeding.." He mumbled, blinking slowly. The boy's already snowy white complexion had turned a somewhat sickly green, it became apparent that he wasn't fond of blood. William frowned wrenched his head back up to look at Gabe, dropping his hand and forcing a small smile, "perhaps.. Perhaps I should be... Be going." He stuttered, his eyes fixing themselves onto those of the older boy. He felt silly, it was only a little blood in reality, but it seemed like a lot to him, and it had frightened him.

Then again he should have been used to it, William fell more often than not, he seemed to never have got the gist of balancing, and if he wasn't falling he was knocking things over. It wasn't his fault, the teen was gangly and unsure of his limbs, he couldn't control them all that well. His mind felt fuzzy, like he was drunk, and his vision had blurred slightly, he had the acute feeling somewhere in the back of his head that he was going to pass out, the sensation made him giggle softly, before he tripped a few feet, and blinked again. "Maybe.. I need to go and lie down.." He stated slowly, eyes still fixed upon Gabe's, "for a... For a while..."</div>

Gabe's eyes widened, his expression alarmed. It was unlike his usual calm features. "I thought..the pressure from holding the tissue against it would have stopped it." Gabriel realised he had probably been the one to distract the boy from doing this.

"That's a good idea." Gabe agreed, "where's your dorm?" He asked, "or will I just take you to mine?" He didn't really have time to find William's dorm as the boy would have passed out in the time it took.

He hung there awkwardly unsure of how to help the boy. He wasn't the best at knowing how to comfort others in times of need.

<div align=center>William drew a breath and slowly placed a hand on Gabe's shoulder, an unusual thing for him to do, but of current the poor boy had no choice, he had to steady himself somehow. He mumbled an apology and looked concerned all of a sudden, realizing that this wasn't really the way to make friends. "I'm so sorry I just don't like blood, he squeaked, pulling his hand away suddenly and taking a few steps backwards, his cheeks flushing pink again and his shoulders tensing, he still felt wobbly, though the sudden realization of the fact he'd freaked out in front of someone he barely knew had distracted him a little, Bill was relatively dignified, he got embarrassed easily, and when he did it was easy to tell. "I'm really sorry."

He looked away from Gabe, clasping his hands in front of him and shuffling his feet on the ground a little. He apologized for the third time, and shuffled backward again, frowning up at Gabe. There was almost a cute air around him all of a sudden, and it was easy to tell that William was more a boy than a man due to the incident he was in all a sudden. He needed looking after, especially here, his fear of embarrassment was all he could do not to cry at the sting of the grazes on his knees. New people frightened William, and new places even more so.</div>

"Bill." Gabriel muttered, coming up behind the teen and wrapping his arms around him, to steady him. "Stop apologising, okay?" He held the boy there for a few moments until William had appeared to stop wobbling. "It's okay to have a fear of blood, no need to apologise." He reassured the anxiety ridden William who was now in his arms.

"I have you," Gabe told him, "you won't fall now." He looked around and spotted a bench, "do you think you can walk over there with me? You need to at least sit down." His gaze met William's and he saw how William was trying not to cry. "You'll be okay shortly, I promise."

<div align=center>The boy nodded a little, "please..." He squeaked, "my legs feel funny." He twitched suddenly, and pulled himself from Gabe's grip, suddenly feeling a little strange, he barely knew him and he was pressed up against him like he would have done his mother as a frightened child. He felt embarrassed again and frowned, "I'm sorry," he laughed awkwardly, "I barely know you and I'm so close I could have kissed you," he laughed again, rubbing the back of his neck and glancing sideways, away from Gabe. He suddenly seemed a lot more dignified, though a thought lingered at the back of his mind that told him judging by Gabe's looks, he wouldn't really have minded kissing him. He realized the context of the thought and clapped a hand to his mouth, "yeah perhaps I better sit down." He answered hurriedly, nodding again and shuffling somewhat steadily over to the closest seat.

He sank down on it, the worn wood slightly damp on the seat of his jeans, but he didn't really care. He guessed it had been raining, though he didn't remember when. William looked up at Gabe, and tucked a strand of hair behind his ear, feeling a little suspicious about why he was being so nice again. People weren't usually so courteous toward him, especially other guys. It was either the way he looked, or the silver foil hat propped atop his head that did it, William supposed it was a little of both.</div>

"Yes with then bleeding especially I'm sure they would," Gabe answered and went to sit down beside William. He laughed at teen's little exclamation about kissing him. He couldn't help but wish that the boy had kissed him. Don't be silly Gabriel, he scolded himself.

"Feeling any better?" Gabe asked quietly. It wasn't often you could catch him this quiet. He noticed himself seeming quiet and shook his head. Usually he would have broken the silence with a stupid joke but for some reason he was drawing a blank. "Lucky you didn't faint, eh?"

<div align=center>Bill nodded, "a little," he answered quietly, smiling softly and thanking Gabe for his concern. He wasn't sure what would have happened if he'd fainted, "would have been an interesting way to start a friendship." He joked, laughing, and smiling brightly, for the first time since he'd been here. His laugh was cute, he'd obviously amused himself. He leaned back on the bench, feeling the damp soak through to his shirt too, but he didn't really care. His head was beginning to hurt, and the wind had picked up, he had to hold a hand on top of his head to keep his hat from blowing away, Gabe was the first person he'd talked to who'd not questioned it, he hadn't even glanced strangely at it. He wondered why that was.

The boy swung his legs idly, "you can sit next to me, y'know," he offered, "I don't mind." He shifted over a short way, making room for Gabriel and crossing one leg over the other, he hadn't forgotten about the blood, he was just trying not to think about it. He chose to focus on Gabe instead, he was distraction enough from it, it was better for William not to think about it. A thought struck him, Gabe must he here at this school for a reason, and he was suddenly desperate to know what that reason was. </div>
