When Valerie finally hugged him, Tucker felt like it was finally over, and he returned the hug, assuring he was there for her. There was the thought of irony that crossed his mind; that just a few months earlier she'd ran to this island searching for him and he was just about ready to drive her off if it wasn't for the fact that she wasn't lying. Having the places reversed was emotionally taxing; it was harder for her to accept the situation this way with parts of her memories gone.
In the quiet calm, the only thing that seemed to break it was the harpy's growling stomach. Tucker couldn't help but laugh. His laugh had been light, relieved for the most part. At least for now. Now that he'd promised they would visit Valencia, he had to tame the disquiet slowly brewing at the back of his mind.
Tucker loosened his hug around his daughter, enough for her to pull away but he didn't push her off, thinking she'd probably want to hide her face a little longer. "I came up here to bring your breakfast but it's probably gone cold by now. Do you want to warm it up first?"
