Caterina’s Secret Santa turned out to be a fairly easy one: they shared similar interests, after all. Books, history, gaming…

And yet, having the same interests meant her head whirled with different ideas. Ultimately, though, she decided on a book about the history of Manta Carlos Islands. A large book—informative, and also featuring some brilliant photography of the island. It was a book that Caterina owned herself, and she hoped her Secret Santa partner would love it just as much as she did.

It would be nice to meet someone who was passionate about history like she was. Signing up for the Secret Santa had made Caterina anxious initially, but she wanted to put herself out there and meet more people. It would be fine, right? The person she had ended up paired with had so many similar interests, so they would get along well enough, wouldn’t they?

Caterina shook off her anxious thoughts, clutching the gift bag at her side as she waited by the tall tree for her Secret Santa partner to come.

For a guy that can control time, Victor was very late, and (forgetting he can control time) he was making his way quickly through Oceania Park to the tree, gift hidden inside a heavily wrapped box. The run alone wasn't an issue, it was the Gift that caused all the headaches.

First, he had no idea what to get his Secret Santa partner, but then he realized he had similar hobbies, so Victor could pick something that he would like, so that was one panic attack finished. The next issue after that was narrowing it down. There were several new books and games released this year, and he didn't know if she had any of them already.

In the end, he just decided to get her a Cthulu shoulder bag, filled with plastic storage Bottles of many sizes.

While the bag was small, the grim face wasn't very cute, But Victor hoped that she wasn't too bothered by it.

Wheezing, he stopped in front of the tree. Hopefully, he was at the right place, and his introversion didn't cause him to run before giving his partner her gift.

There was a young man standing near by, who she suspected may be Victor--but he had not noticed her yet. Which means it was up to her to approach. Oh Gods.

She took a deep breath. Fussed with a few of the red roses in her hair. Smoothed out her coat. She had signed up for this Secret Santa thing as one of many actions toward becoming less of a socially awkward mess, but it didn't really change the fact that she was still a...socially awkward mess. She could just feel the tentacles of the Banyoles Monster trying to squirm their way to the surface. They were always most active when she was anxious, but she tried her best to suppress them as she walked toward Victor.

“Um…are you Victor? I am Caterina.”

Gods she hoped this was the right person, or else she was going to feel even more awkward.

"And, if you are..." She held up the gift bag at her side, containing the book. "Then this would be for you."

She smiled sweetly. Perhaps her social anxiety was still strong, but at the very least she had noticed in just the past few months that she had become better at hiding it. She could smile through it, instead of letting her nerves shake her body and contort her face in odd expressions.

After what seemed an eternity of Breathlessness, he finally managed to catch a breath. Note to self: Exercise more.

Standing up, he noticed a girl had walked up to him. Probably Caterina, judging from the outfit. What should he do? Quickly give her the gift and run? Social circumstances weren't his forte, and gift giving with a stranger was on the top of his "Panic Now" list. Not that he had one, of course (inner left pocket).

He was right, it was Caterina. "Yeah, I'm Victor. Um... nice to meet you?"

She was as awkward as he was. Maybe this wasn't a good idea. Victor turned, about to leave the gift -both his and hers- there, when she spoke up. "Oh.. this is for you," he replied, slinging the bag off his shoulder. "Sorry if it's not very good."

Seeing her smile, he tried to replicate it but felt uncomfortable doing so.

Caterina took the backpack as she handed Victor his gift. She took a good look at it, and soon couldn’t help but laugh.

“O-oh my goodness…” she said through giggles. “This is perfect. You don’t even know how perfect.”

Giving a girl who sometimes burst into tentacles a cthulu plushie backpack? It was too funny.

“I love it. Thank you.”

Then she realized there was actually something inside the bag as well and opened it up.

“Oh, you got me bottles too! That’s so considerate! Thank you!”

A small blush rose up in her cheeks…which was weirdly tinted blue instead of red. She hoped Victor liked her gift as much as she appreciated hers.

The two traded their gifts and Caterina laughed, confusing Victor. It wasn't that funny, was it? Her words didn't help either, but hey, she said it was perfect.

He silently waited until she looked inside the bag to look at his own gift, which was a large hardcover Book on the Manta Carlos Islands. "Thanks, Caterina" He said, not sure how to answer. He had been looking for something like this for a while, but had very little luck.
