The warm cup of coffee warmed Henghai's hands and made a pleasant aroma in the room. All in all, the daying was going well for him. Of course, seeing students coming in with injuries and sicknesses was painful. That didn't take away from how the overall job of a school nurse was pleasant.

Today he would be having a nursing student shadow him while he worked. Hopefully, the student didn't expect anything interesting from him. It had its moments of craziness, what with puberty on this island being a mess, but most of the time, all there was to it were simple check-ups and nudging kids towards the right direction to feel better naturally. For now, he just had to wait and see what the day would bring him and how the nursing student would respond to it.

Rom was half way excited and half way nervous for the day. He had decided his major on a wim because of how many times he had to patch himself up. So far it had been working out but this was the ultimate test to see if he had chosen the right major. He had decided earlier that He couldn't show up in his usual attire with no shirt, sweatpants, and no shoes. For this day alone he had decided on jeans; that he would most likely destroy later; and a undamaged short sleeve black t-shirt. His feet were still bare per normal but he had at least tried to look half way decent.

After deciding to hopefully not shift during his first meeting of the nurse he was supposed to be shadowing for the day Roman headed down the hall towards the infirmary. His black hair strung out all over his head but he breathed a sigh of nervousness and reached the infirmary door. When he pulled it open he hoped he wouldn't be in for a misery of a day. " Umm hello, " He glanced at the only other person in the room. " My name is Roman and I'm here to shadow a nurse named Henghai? Am I in the right place?"

Henghai turned in his chair to face the young man who was here to learn from him. As he sat down his coffee gently, Henghai gave Roman a relaxed smile. "You are. I'm Henghai Leizu, and. I'm happy to be here to teach you today."

While his face didn't show it, he was excited. If the day proved boring in tasks, that was no cause for worry. He had many tips and stories to give Roman. Anyone interested in pursuing the life of nursing, doctoring, or what have you earned his respect and excitement.

Though, Roman's bare feet was some cause for concern.

"Just to make sure, are you resistant to diseases or do you have the ability to regenerate? I wouldn't want you getting hurt because of your feet."

Roman gave a half smile when it was mentioned that has indeed in the right spot and he had talked to the right person. The younger demon tossed out his right hand to shake, " Nice to meet you Mr. Leizu. I'm glad you gave me the opportunity to shadow you today. "

At the mention of his feet Rom glanced down at them, " Umm... Regenerate. I'd say more like increased healing, but injuries and/or pain is not much of a problem for me, I go through a lot of pain daily. Shoes are a little bit pointless for me. " He shrugged and focused his gaze back at the nurse in front of him. "If I can run through the woods without them on I don't see a problem of not having shoes here. " He might come off his a little bit cocky but to Roman, shoes felt like a pointless waste of time. Of course he had been asked to wear shoes by several people but that didn't stop him from completely ignoring every single one of the requests. It wasn't a disrespectful thing to Roman, but more of an inconvenience if he ever needed to shift.

He glanced around the room trying to think of a polite conversation change. " May I ask how you found out you wanted to be a nurse? This is a fairly recent decision of mine and I was also wondering if you might be able to help me find a way to work in my other form." he asked boldly and right to the point.

It was not surprising that Roman could regenerate when he casually walked around without shoes. For that matter, Henghai couldn't, and wouldn't, judge him for his fashion choice. Yet the concern remained on his face as his shadow walked further into the infirmary.

Henghai gave the young man a firm handshake, all the while commenting on his lack of footwear some more. "I still think it would be better for you to wear shoes. Sometimes things happen here where it's better for your feet to be covered." Probably better to not start off the introduction by talking about kids potentially vomiting on him.

"Anyhow, I'd be happy to help you, but you'd need to explain to me what your other form does.

"As for how I decided to become a nurse? Growing up, I had magic that lets me heal. My species values fighting, but I preferred more gentle hobbies. So, I left to become a doctor for the supernatural community, hoping I could bring back valuable knowledge to my people. After moving here with my family, I taught at this school for several months before deciding I miss actually treating people. That's the short version. I didn't want to bore you with all the details."

Roman listened to the concerns and decided to come up with a better solution to the shoe problem. " Maybe if it's still a problem I could invest in some shoes and keep them here for when I shadow you. If that's a better solution. If I had a better solution then i'd tell you but If I wear them anywhere else they will most likely break because I will forget they are on when I shift. "

He thought for a moment about the second question placed, " I could describe to you that form but It might be better to show you at a later time. What I can tell you is that it's canine-ish. " He explained with a small shrug. Roman found it somewhat difficult to explain his form to anyone else. Some folks feared it and got scared, while other found it a problem because of the protruding bones, but the biggest problem was explaining why he preferred his other form so much more then the human one. In his head it made perfect sense but trying to put into words why he preferred to be a big scary monster was something else entirely.

" I did want to put out there that I am very thankful for this opportunity to learn and work alongside you." He said while also not used to thanking anyone for anything. At least he still tried to express his gratefulness. " What are your abilities and what did you teach when you moved here?"

Henghai nodded happily in response. Really, Henghai couldn't criticize Roman too much. His shoes were modified for his hooves and changed when he shifted. It was more convenient for some kind of substance inevitable ended up on the floor.

"I'm happy to hear that. I know it can feel like a drag, not being allowed to work as soon as possible, but I hope this experience helps you with your further studies."

So far, things were going extremely well. Seeing a student so ready to work gave him the energy to show him everything the profession had to offer.

"I taught first aid for high schoolers and above, and medication and remedies for those in college. For the majority of my life, I was able to heal by creating humanoid plants and merging them with the wound that needed healing. Now I can only do that for my own kind and Earth or Water elementalists. Luckily, I know how to use alchemy in case my natural healing wasn't enough."

" I'll hopefully be working soon enough. or at least that's the hope." Roman grinned. He knew that nurses didn't have the most interesting job but this was a school for the supernatural. Sure small cuts and bruises were still going to happen but if his own experience had anything to offer. He had constant holes in his body that he had to deal with when he had first come to the island.

That was most of the reason he had decided to become a nurse in the first place. His first memories of living were painful and he had wished to help someone else's experiences if they had similar problems like he did. Although he had gotten used to the pain that came with shifting in and out of his human form, it didn't change the fact that he had gotten help from the school to deal with all of it. He hoped to get a chance to help someone that had similar problems like him to repay the favor.

" You can heal by using plants, of course that makes sense. I don't believe I have any such abilities to heal anyone but myself. Even that takes time that I don't usually have." Roman thought about it for a moment. " How do you use alchemy to heal people?"

Henghai gave the young man an encouraging smile. With the passion he was showing, he was well on his way towards being a great nurse.

"I use my alchemy to make elixirs out of gems, plants, body parts, or whatever else I need. From those ingredients, I can heal people of their sicknesses and wounds. I can also help in other ways, like making anesthetics." It was a bit of a complicated thing to explain. Alchemy had such a wide range of uses, he could go on and on about all the things he could do. He also didn't want to bore Roman by listing ingredients and what they'll produce when mixed together.

And good thing he didn't, as a student came in looking to be seen by him. The student was a girl who looked to be in her pre-teens. Her lower half was of a goat, while her upper half was human, other than her rectangular pupils and goat ears.

"Um, hello," she started off shyly. "I was playing with my friends, and one of them got too rough and accidentally burned me." She showed off a burn on her hand. From what Henghai could see, it looked like a simple first-degree burn.

Henghai nodded to the girl and directed her to the sink in the room, telling her to put the burn under cold water for about five to ten minutes, or until her pain went away.

" Can you teach alchemy or is it just a power you have, Henghai?" Roman was super interested in alchemy but not knowing it wasn't going to stop him from being a nurse. Although knowing alchemy would give him a step up to helping people more he knew that things were limited when it came to living on the island. Besides there were going to be some injuries that have supernatural causes and He didn't want to have to pass them helping someone because he didn't know what to do.

As the girl walked in, Rom watched as she was easily led to the sink to let the cool water tend to her wound. It was a inspiring moment for him because this was maybe the first time he had seen anyone but himself in the infirmary even if it was just for something small. There was something a little off but he had to learn the medicine before he could think about learning doing field medicine.

To Roman Henghai was inspiring and He only wanted to learn more from him. He smiled to the young girl and then returned his attention back to the nurse. " I don't think we have covered burns in our studies just yet."
