Scanning... Scanning.... No clients found.
As the slender android wove her way through the crowds of the Strip, she glanced around. Nameless faces swept past her, waves in the sea of people. Not one looked much apart from the other - all awash in a lilac-colored hue, as she searched for potential customers.
Yes, she knew, she was free from her protocol. She could do whatever she wanted on Earth and not one human would blink an eye in protest, because it was known here - she was an android. A proud android, free of her world, and free of her directives and choices.
Except for one rogue thought that plagued her systems, a question that, to her, was almost mind-breaking.
What was an android if not her directive and programming?
Unfortunately - being given too much freedom in too much time had worn Vi out, softened her, bored her. She'd had so many adventures already - certainly, mutiny, trial, and punishment would count - but above it all, her programming took priority.
And so here she was, now, looking for clients to serve and to please. Anything for a good dose of approval. And so far, with the exception of a middle-aged man who was busy stumbling like a tiny human in the streets, she hadn't received any customers as of yet.
Spotting yet another bar, Vi ducked inside. Another bar, with another pun for a name (she'd had to refer to her database on what exactly a "pun" was) - something along the lines of, "Bar None". It wans't very clever, for a play on words, Vi thought.
The usual scene awaited her - plenty of entertained drunkards, plenty of strange smells and stains on the seats... At least the bar itself did nto share that particular smell of "booze". (Also a human slang word, for toxin.)
It would be nice if she had recognized someone here....
