Natalia was meeting her son for lunch. Or maybe not her son. She couldn't make up her mind, and kept having to mentally correct herself any time she thought of him.

He wasn't her son. Not anymore. She'd cut him out of her life like a cancer after what he'd done.

Meeting him for lunch was more than he deserved, but she'd agreed anyway. A part of her just wanted it to be over. She wanted it resolved. But how could he resolve it? How could he ever make it better? He couldn't rewind time. He couldn't take it back. Things were changed for good, even if they wished they weren't.

Natalia looked awfully serious as she settled in at a table. Off to the side. A bit more quiet. She could relax here, at least until Aaron arrived.

He was meeting his mom, he'd been surprised she'd been willing to meet up with him at all. Aaron landed in an alley, his wings vanishing as he did, he wasn't sure what to expect, if it'd be anything more than confirmation that things between them was broken, but he wanted to at least try and talk to her.

The half vampire took some slow breaths both to steady his nerves and to focus on his aura, drawing it in and shutting it off, he didn't have the control quite nailed down, but he was getting there, hopefully it'd stay off long enough. Taking another breath, he stepped out of the alley and headed down the sidewalk, the people passing him did so without giving him even giving him a look. It was nice going unnoticed, not getting any unwanted attention from the people around him, it felt normal, it felt good.

The he saw her, sitting at the small table, it was the first time he'd seen her since moving out. He wasn't sure what to expect from this meeting, if it would even accomplish anything at all, but he had to at least try. "Uh....hey," he said as he walked up, hoping his aura wouldn't spike because of his nerves, "I...it's good to see you." Aaron couldn't remember ever being this nervous before in his life.

There was something different from the moment she saw him: She wasn't attracted to him. That had been the first warning sign, even if she'd kept her mouth shut. How could she have brought it up? I'm attracted to you? No, better it come from someone else, only it hadn't.

"I see you've got your aura in check," Natalia said, starting the conversation off on a sore point. "What else have you been doing since you moved out?"

Moved out. Not kicked out. Not disowned. She'd assumed he'd run to the school for housing, but she didn't actually know that. She hadn't checked, and it was debatable if she'd even be able to. Had he reported the disowning to the school? Or had he kept it between them?

She gestured for him to sit across from her, glancing briefly to her water as she did.

He'd kept what had happened between them, well his therapist knew, but that was about it. Aaron nodded and took a seat, it'd taken so long to learn to shut his aura off, he still didn't have it completely figured out, but he was getting there.

"Just school and work," he noticed her choice of words, she was acting as if he hadn't been more or less kicked out, but he didn't say anything, "nothing else really." His social life had become somewhat nonexistent after he'd been outed as a demon, so he just focused on other things.

"What about you?" he wasn't really sure what to say, how to say it, seemed like it it wou
be awkward one way or another, "how are you?"

Work? Natalia raised a slim eyebrow, watching him carefully. What work could he even be doing?

"You got a job?" Natalia asked. She had a suspicion, but she hoped that she was wrong. She had her own issues, but she was far less interested in talking about herself than she was in scoping out Aaron and figuring out what he was doing.

"I've been the same," Natalia said simply. She almost said the house was quiet, but decided against it. It didn't matter, and he didn't need to know it. "You moved into the dorms?"

"Yeah, I work night hours at a shop, don't sleep so I thought it was a good use of time," it was a simple charm and potion shop, only had a few customers at night, it was boring but kept him busy and get him some money.

He saw the looks she had, he assumed she thought he was working at one of the brothels, not true of course, if anything he'd been looking for ways to not to have to use them eventually. For now it was required he visit one three times a day.

Aaron nodded, "I did yeah," her more or less kicking him out hadn't been pleasant to say the least, luckily the school had been there. "The dorms are pretty nice," he was used to cleaning and taking care of things, so living alone wasn't all that different.

Truly, Natalia had something worse than a brothel in mind. There was no way for Aaron to work in one, not at his age, which meant if he was going to do anything of the sort, it'd be far shadier. Combined with his attraction aura... well, Natalia had never had a very good impression of sex workers to begin with.

Even if it was awfully hypocritical.

"Well, that's good," Natalia said, already dead ending for conversations. Should she even continue trying to be polite? Should she just cut to the heart of the matter?

Maybe that was the best.

"Have you spoken to your sister at all?"

"We've talked yeah," he wasn't sure if he should tell her how it went, or to keep it between him and Alma, in the end he decided not to tell her for now.

He wasn't really sure how to keep the conversation going, to talk to her about everything that had happened. "I'm happy you're doing well," he'd been worried about them, though be supposed there wasn't anything to really worry about, they'd be ok.

"I....," he was a social person, always enjoyed talking to people, yet here he was having trouble finding the right things to say "How's work?" he asked, he didn't actually know what she did for work really, she'd always said office work, but he wasn't sure if he believed that anymore. "Everything going ok?"

Just talked. Vague and evasive, but Natalia wasn't sure if she wanted to press further. Maybe she'd hear it from Alma officially, or maybe she'd just pick things up from how they reacted around each other.

"I would give you a charm, but I don't have one," Natalia said, neatly avoiding his questions. "You should look into one. You've always been kept secret from hell thanks to it, but now that you're living elsewhere, they'll be able to find you if you don't protect yourself."

To the point, then. The information she needed to pass on to him.
