After days of combing through old books and cross-referencing their sources since that day they visited the library, the location of Grostman's writings are finally coming along. Following Monday's recommendation, Candle narrowed down some locations where her former master's books may yet still survive. All that was left was to being Monday their findings.

"Monday, I looked into that lead you suggested. According to the authors, they cited one of Grostman's books which we only know to have come from a church in Genoa. I managed to narrow it down to 3 possible churches that match the descriptions based on the author's remarks. But to find out which one houses the books we are searching for we would have to visit the churches ourselves and search their treasuries to see they still hold onto their book collection. At least one of Grostman's books was in one of these churches since the the early 20th century but there is no telling if it was moved elsewhere during that time."

Having shared everything they learned, now came the next question: how should they proceed?

"Genoa?!" Monday remarked very curiously as he sat down at the table where Candle had been working diligently on finding out what she could about where other books or manuscripts might be that Grostman had written.

"As in Italy?" he asked somewhat surprised, but not, by Candle's discovery. Somehow it made sense that such arcane works would be found in such a historically religious place. If he remembered correctly, the city had some twenty odd churches, and that was not counting smaller, more private chapels belonging to historically wealthy families.

Ganymede had been sitting and reading nearby when this conversation began. His ears perked up.

He knew vaguely what Candle and Monday were up to. Tracking down certain rare books to destroy them. And he didn't know entirely how he felt about that, at first - books were precious. Destroying one on purpose felt wrong.

But it was important to Candle for Grostman's books to be destroyed. And Grostman was terrible to her, and the things he made were terrible and dangerous. Ganymede understood what that was like. He wanted to help.

By the time Candle had finished speaking, Gany was sitting up, book set aside with a bookmark in place. This conversation had his full attention, but he wasn't going to chime in yet.

"Correct. After some reading, it would seem that these books were donated to the church by a rather wealthy merchant during the 16th century. How he managed to obtain these books in his collection or his reasons for giving these books to the church I cannot say. But it would seem after all these centuries no one seemed wise to the true nature of these books." answered Candle plainly.

They had their own opinions that this merchant had "donated" the books to demonstrate his wealth under the guise of piety, a favorite pastime of the rich and powerful based on experiences with their prior masters. But in this case they saw no reason to state opinions, only the facts.

"Typical," Monday muttered under his breath and shaking his head, not surprised at all that this was how they came to be in hands of the church.

"It is, or was, a very common thing to do back during those times, Candle. People often donated objects of wealth or importance to the Church," Monday explained, remembering that Candle probably wasn't extremely familiar with medieval customs from beyond the veil.

"And, I'm pretty sure the books probably haven't been looked at by anyone in decades, or even centuries," he said, which was, he had to admit, both a relief and a shame. Books should generally be enjoyed, not whisked away and put on a shelf or in a display case to collect dust because they were some trophy from a wealthy patron. Although, in this case, it might have been a good thing considering who wrote them.

"Does it say whether the books are on public display or not?" Monday asked his attention now hyper-focused on Candle and her findings; also thinking whether it would be easier to secure the books from a public display case or "borrow" them permanently out of some churches private archives.

"As far as I am aware, these books are not on public display and merely held in storage. Access to them however appears restricted of members clergy or those with scholarly purposes." answered Candle, erecting posture. Now that they knew where they can at last find the books they were looking for, now comes the logistics of obtaining them.

"With that in mind, how should we proceed in... acquiring Grostman's books? I don't suppose you intend to travel to Genoa and asking nicely for them. Nor burn down any historical buildings." remarked the Salamander, whom personally was rather content with burning each the churches down and be done with it but things sadly cannot be that simple.

Ganymede stsrted to chime in: "I could..."

And then he second guessed himself. He was about to suggest theft. Stealing from churches in the narrow reality. It felt like a naughty and scary kind of thing to do.

But it was for a good cause. The Veil would probably approve. Monday and Candle would definitely appreciate it too, sssuming they didn't think less of him for being a thief.

"Um... I could probably go in and find the books without anyone noticing. I might even be able to take them."

Monday looked Gany's way, surprised at their suggestion, but not in a bad way. He just had not expected them to suggest such a thing. Glancing for a moment at Candle, Monday then nodded slowly.

"That could work," he said. "However, Church archives are generally huge. You could spend all day searching for the tomes. .." Monday explained, trying to think if there might be an easier way to locate the books written by Candle's old master.

"Maybe I could write to them and ask for an appointment to study the books? Tell them I am a scholar researching Grostman? And Gany can follow in unnoticed to find where the books are kept when I leave?" he suggested, not sure if Ganymede was comfortable or not with the idea.

Candle drew their attention to Ganymede as they make their voice heard. Their was no evident shock on Candle's end at Gany's suggestion. They in fact approved of the catboy's initiative but there were other options to consider. Monday seemed to have been in he same mind and put built upon the original idea.

"That can work so long as we can keep the attention away from Ganymede, should they be confident with their self in executing the task." spoke up Candle whom then looked to Ganymede to see if they still intend to be the one to take the books.

Ganymede was deep in thought for a moment. Gathering his courage.

"...I can do it," he said. "I can turn invisible and fly, like a spirit, so... it shouldn't be too hard to sneak in after them. Unless they can still detect me somehow. Do Catholic priests know how to do anything like that?"

He'd heard things, but he had no idea how true they were. He'd never been to a church before.
