The DSU had their own room in the back of the restaurant. It was a sort of fast casual place - sandwiches, soup, pasta, salads, that sort of thing. Nice enough, but not too expensive. This little get-together had been announced at the last several club meetings.
Chloe wasn't at the head of the table; she was in the center of it. They had several tables arranged in a U-shape with enough spots for everyone. Everyone was eating and talking at this point. Chloe was telling everyone close enough to listen about the time she summoned one of the Goetic presidents, named Buer. "His form is like ah, a lion-wheel," she explained. "So he has a lion head, okay, and these five legs that just sort of rotate around him when he walks, like a wheel, but his head stays upright. He let me take a video. Lemme pull it up." The video was on her phone. She passed it around.
Chloe thought these kinds of get-togethers were important to establish a sense of community and kinship. They were especially important now that the March virus had come and gone. There was a specific strain that had a highly visible effect on demons. Until recently, a good chunk of the people here had been hiding the fact that they were demons from the rest of the world. A lot of them still needed to learn that they didn't have to fear or hate their own kind. Not everyone here was a demon, either - which meant that some people could come here while still in the closet about being demons.
