"I doubt it will work the same way for you. Every demon has their own way of making Hell stronger and their own job. I don't know what anyone else's is, I never ask. And a lot."

Eli was feeling all sorts of good being here at the pier. She felt light, weightless, from the open air and someone, anyone, sitting beside her. Some of that genuine affection had made its way to her voice, and Eliana didn't have the guard to care about its presence.

"You sound so reserved about all of it like you just have no choice. We're chaos, all you have are choices. Plus, you're young. Why are you thinking about all the sins you have to commit? Do you even want to? I mean, hey, I'm all for people sinning, but you sound like it's an assignment."

She rose her toe from the water to make a ripple effect. She used to love making those as a child, to watch how far they could go before breaking into nothing.

"I'm just trying to get a feel for your thought process here."

Chloe shrugged. "The thing about me making soul-deals with mortals is, uh, part of my birthright, basically. It's something that'll be expected of me if I accept my dad's gift of immortality. Which I pretty much have decided to do, by the way. If I do that I can also do other stuff too, yeah, like I could start a company or take over a planet if I felt like it, but I'd have to do at least a little bit of making deals for souls every once in a while. To sustain myself and my realm, if nothing else."

Immortality was too good of a deal to pass up, even if the price was hard for her to swallow.

"Outside of that, the sinning would just be for funsies. I could do whatever the hell I want for about as long as I want."

"That's one way to put it," Eli hummed. "I won't lie. Immortality is sweet and super fun, but it's dull, too. Give it a hundred years or so and a lot of the things you cared about previously just don't matter anymore. Soon, you're going to new extremes to find even the basic enjoyment out of things.

"Don't get me wrong, I'm so not talking you out of it, I think your dad would kill me if I did that, but I want you to know it's more than just fun and games."

"I'm sure any kind of existence would get boring after a while," Chloe said after a pause. "But I'd take living forever over ceasing to exist, or an afterlife where I didn't get to control my fate the way I could if I was alive."

She kicked one of her feet back and forth, making small splashes.

"Even if life sucks for me when I get older, living beats the hell out of the alternative."

She wasn't going into this deal without thinking about it, of course.

"Guess that's true," Eliana said with a shrug. "I still find enjoyment out of everything. Even pain, most of the time."

Eliana mimicked Chloe's splashing.

"Do you have any plans beyond immortality and collecting souls? Plan on college?" Eliana never thought she was much of a conversationalist. She didn't know the normal questions to ask and now she was feeling all responsible, which was gross.

She nodded; she was planning on college. "At least once, but probably more than once. I'll do it here the first time. Not sure what I'll get my degree in, though. And the rest of my plans probably depend on how I feel after college."

She saw a pair of people riding the same jet ski. Some guy with a girl hanging on to him from behind. They looked like they were having a lot of fun.

"Did you do the whole college thing?"

The conversation wouldn't go much farther until Chloe gave in. "How... frowned-upon, do you think it would be for me to go jet-skiing in the lingerie I'm wearing under this dress?"

"Nah. I dropped out on my last year of high school, the second I turned eighteen I was gone. Parents refused to speak to me for at least six months."

She watched as the man and woman riding a jet ski zoomed off in the distance. It looked fun, Eli was pretty sure if they rode one, Chloe should drive because Eli would be too likely to kill both of them.

"Who cares?" she responded with a laugh. "Maybe if we hail those two over we can jack their ride. That would add to the fun, I think."

Without waiting for Chloe's opinion on the matter, Eliana stood and began waving her arms. "Oi!"

It would probably take them awhile to realize she was calling out to them.

"Pfft. Alright then." Chloe stripped down to her lacy black underwear. She held her dress in a bundle and put her hat on top of it, then held a hand out to Eliana.

"Can I have the car keys for a sec? Gotta put this dress away somewhere safeish. So I can fit in out there." She smirked.

Even after Chloe would have put her dress and her hat away, the jet skiing couple still wouldn't have noticed them. Chloe would try to help, but not even a mostly naked demoness waving and bouncing around could bring them over.

"Okay," Chloe turned to Eliana. "What now?"

Eliana looked around. She knew there would be more jets parked at the docks. There was bound to be. "We steal a different one," she said, "and then we steal that couples, too, because how dare they not notice you jumpin' around in that." Eli looked over at Chloe, purposefully eyeing her from head to toe.

She strolled off to find said jets, and Eliana was correct, there were jets tied to the docks. Eli knew how to hotwire a car, but she'd never done anything like that with a jet ski. Could one even hotwire a jet ski? "See any with keys?" she called to Chloe as she checked each jet over.

Chloe wasn't so sure about this whole "stealing a jet ski" thing. Even if it was as easy as finding one with the keys still in it, she could easily get caught and cause trouble for her dad and herself.

"You know," Chloe said after some hesitant searching, "We probably wont find one with the keys still in. And I could easily just... Rent one for the evening. There's a place down the beach for that." Her tail was twitching.
