When Eliana picked Chloe up, she was wearing one of those short above the stomach shirts, a bikini that wrapped around her neck under it, and jean shorts. In short, she wasn't in any semi-formal attire as she had mentioned Chloe should be in. It wasn't so much that Eliana had lied or tricked Chloe, more that Eli had changed her mind at the last second and hadn't seen fit to inform Chloe of it. If Chloe expected Eliana to take notice of this, she would be sorely mistaken.

Eliana had looked at the other girl and whistled, low and long. "Oh, man are you gonna stick out like-a sooore thumb. Should be fun, right?"

When they had gotten into Eliana's luxury sedan, which she may (but most definitely did) steal. Eliana had told Chloe that the engine was shot and that if she turned it off, the car wouldn't be able to start again. She had then winked and said it made things more interesting.

While driving to the pier, she had made small comments.

"Would suck to die here, right?" she had said on a busy road.

"Let's hope it doesn't happen here," she had commented on a particularly dark road.

Upon reaching their destination, Eliana had turned to Chloe, grinning wickedly. Still watching the girl, she reached up and turned the car off with a "whoops."

Chloe had on her favorite little black dress, along with a sensible jacket and a hat that would have looked more at home in a speakeasy in prohibition-era America. She was trying to bring back an old style. It felt classy, even if it was old-school slutty.

She was surprised, at furst, that she wasn't dressed for the occasion. But it wouldn't be the first time she stuck out like a sore thumb. "That's nothing new," she said, lifting one leg and bending it in a way that humans couldn't. Many people couldn't take their eyes off Chloe's legs - but less out of attraction and more out of morbid fascination.

Eliana's car sounded like it had an unusual dysfunction. It didn't bother her too much. when they stopped at their destination, and the car stopped running, Chloe laughed aloud once. "Should I call in one of my dad's people, or were you bluffing that whole time?"

"The bluff isn't fun when you don't act worried, Frito-Lay," was all Eliana said before getting out of the car. That probably gave the girl her answer. And yes, Eli liked that nickname enough to just call Chloe it.

Eliana breathed in deeply. Smell that sea air. It was the best kind of air, right before pine scented. Maybe after. Eli was indesisive about that.

"Now, we have three available options. One, we sit on the dock with our feet in the water. Two, we ste-- rent a jet ski. Or three, we visit the seaside amusement park. Personally, I'm for open one or two, I'm feeling mellow today."

Eliana's mellow apparently ranged from sitting on a dock to riding a jet ski. The more you know.

"Frito-Lay?" Chloe repeated, amused. "That's a new nickname for me. Are you saying you're planning on eating me later?"

After Eliana listed off their options, Chloe had to think for a moment. "Jet skiing sounds fun, but I don't want to mess up my dress. Maybe let's stick with the first option for a little while."

The idea occurred to Chloe that she could jet-ski and keep her dress safe, if only she decided to go out there with Eliana in nothing but her underwear. She wasn't sure if she had the courage, or perhaps the requisite lack of shame, to pull that off.

"Nope, guess again. I'll give you three tries before I get bragging rights."

Eliana stepped around the car to Chloe and took her hand to lead the way to the docks. It was a beautiful day, warm but not hot, and the sound of the water added to the comfort.

In the distance, people on boats and jet skis played in the water. Closer to shore were a family or two with young children who played and splashed in the water, laughing and hollering. The odd scream reached Chloe and Eliana from where Eli had set them up, on the farthest dock from everyone messing around.

She took her shoes off and placed them at her side opposite the one Chloe sat. Dipping her toes into the water, Eliana stared at their reflection.

Once they sat down on the docks, Chloe dipped her toe-feet in the water. She remembered getting her feet wet in freezing water over two years ago, back when she thought she would spend her life a prisoner and an outcast.

How much her situation had changed.

Her moment of contemplation over, she tried to guess again at the meaning of her new name. "So it's not because you're planning on eating me later. Maybe you're planning on eating me out? And-or laying me."

She smirked.

"Real guess, though. The last one doesn't count. I'm guessing that my little explanation of Goblin names amused you way too damn much, and you wanted to reference that. Also 'lay' can refer to sex."

Eliana clicked her tongue along the roof of her mouth and shot Chloe double hand guns.

"Correct! Ding, ding, ding. But I'm still counting you second guess. There will be no freebies here."

Eliana leaned back, using her elbows to keep her upper body upright. She let her head fall back so she could stare at the sky.

"Man, I haven't just sat around at a dock in years. The sounds of people monkeying around in the background brings back memories. It's almost sentimental."

She breathed in again, closing her eyes.

"Speaking of your Fritos, how are they? Hell, how are you? Things still as convoluted as they were?

"Yeah," she shrugged. "Everything's still weird and complicated. I haven't had the chance to talk with Cheeto about anything yet. She's going through hell week apparently."

She sighed and leaned back, mirroring Eliana's body language. But instead of using her elbows to prop herself up, she was using her tail. "Funny you should bring up both of them, because I've actually been, uh, sleeping with both of them. They share some kind of meta-mind because they have, like, wonder twin powers or something, so every time I'm with one I might as well be with the other at the same time."

Still leaning back at the same angle, she lifted her arms up and stretched. "So yeah, like you said, it's convoluted. Also I aced a calculus test since we last met up, which is still funny to me, because I'm set up for life and I have no idea why I even try in class at this point. Habit, I guess?"

"Waitwaitwait...If you're sleeping with both of them why is the whole 'I want to have sex with other people' an issue? Even mind-linked twins have different bodies and sweet spots, different feelings. And I know that from experience."

Eliana stopped herself from ramble and got her mind back on track before she continued. "I mean, I could see me doing that, but it seems...odd from the situation I thought you had with your girlfriend."

Now Eliana was imagining this situation, something about it was amusing to her; that was obvious by the expression on her face. What, exactly, she found so funny was hard to say.

As a kind of afterthought about school, she said, "Anything could happen in life. Best to have a good education and grade to show for yourself. Just another way to be self-sufficient."

Eliana was absolutely right. This fact about her relationship status did make all her worries about being faithful to Cheeto seem ridiculous. Chloe didn't want to admit that her emotional position on this issue was stupid, though. She was barely ready to realize it or admit it to herself, much less admit it to someone else.

"Yeah, like you said, it's convoluted." She deferred thinking about it to later.

"Anyway. I get being self sufficient and stuff, but... calculus though. My job will basically involve making deals with mortals for their souls. I don't see where calculus helps. Unless I run into some mathematician who's all, 'I will give you my soul if you can tell me the integral of this disgusting mishmash of trig functions, show your work.'" She looked up at the stars and shrugged. "I guess in this scenario the mathematician is some, uh... jaded math teacher who's lost all faith in their students or something?"

She thought for a moment. "How many points do I get for your hell if I also seduce the math teacher while posing as one of his students?"
