"So very nice to see that most of you could make it this fine evening," Edwin quipped rather sarcastically as he folded his arms in front of his chest and leaned back very casually against his desk, watching coolly as students started filtering into detention with varying degrees of tardiness.

"Oh look, someone who's almost on time... if 'on time' were seven minutes ago," the Arts teacher stated snarkily as he addressed a "regular", who quickly made their way to the middle of the classroom and took a seat, deliberately ignoring the vampire teacher's, Edwin St. Aubwyn, biting commentary on their late arrival.

Edwin was, aside from Starlight's contemporary Arts teacher, one of the few people on staff who voluntarily took on class detentions. His prickly, slightly sarcastic, as well as no-nonsense demeanor, was actually quite well-suited (most times) to situations that were often charged with teenage rebellion, defensiveness or angst.

As someone who seemed to find trouble a lot, being in detention for the second time this semester wasn't as boring as it used to be. The first time, Nix had gotten an awfully apathetic teacher who didn't really care what the students did - Nix'd been able to take a nap right there.
Now it was just annoying. The professor looked to be a lot more attentive. And snarky, at that. Sometimes, y'know, he could've rolled with a snarky teacher. Not today. Especially when the teacher in question was giving out top-tier sass.
"Nice professionalism, sir," he muttered to the teacher. "At least I bothered to come."
Why? Truth be told, he had a thing to do. Those kids had beat him up, sure, but now he was convinced that he was on the right track. If he could just figure out what they were hiding, what was happening...
He pulled out a journal and a cool little pen - fireproof this time, obviously - and began to write, mumbling to himself all the while. Which kinda grew annoying too, like the buzzing of a mosquito.

"I'm so very glad you noticed, Mr. Jamston," Edwin drawled sarcastically as he keenly watched the young human, mage, he guessed, take a seat and immediately take out a journal to keep himself busy.

"I wouldn't want to disappoint all you supposedly innocent detention goers with unprofessional behaviour now, would I?" he said to the class, his tone very obviously mocking Nix's comment, as he scanned the room of supposed troublemakers.
