Danica weaved her way through the city in the dark. Her normally bright turquoise hair was tucked into a backwards baseball cap, only a few straggling strands peeking out down her back. She was wearing dark navy blue sweatshirt with "MARTINEZ" in block letters across the back and "TRACK" on the front with the name of her school. She was wearing jeans for once, no cargo pants or baggy black ones.
She slipped silently, her eyes cast down onto the ground, into a small cafe. Someone in a corner was reading some depressing poem about how she wanted to end her life... Danica wasn't that upset. She didn't even know why, she just was... bored? No, that didn't make you sad. Or depressed. Maybe just homesick, but she didn't feel like thinking about that right now.
Standing in line behind some guy, she ordered a cup of hot chocolate, she was never one for coffee. She smiled a tiny bit as she watched someone behind the counter making it, and spraying a huge pile of whipped cream on the top. When she dug a dollar bill and two quarters out of her pocket and handed them to him, he handed her the drink.
Danica grabbed a table in the corner, stirring her hot chocolate with a spoon and taking small sips of the whipped cream on top. She put her head in her hands... she wasn't the happiest person right now, she just didn't know why.
