Demons and Game Sprites

"Yeah, there is a lot of stuff I'm learning about too. it's crazy to think that all of this exists here, but not in like other worlds." She followed him rather closely, skipping pleasantly as she did. they had passed several aliens that she had never seen before, and she wasn't going to say anything but more than one of them looked like killable Mobs. The tech was something to be envied as well. All around were machines, and computers the likes of which she had never even imagined. of course, that was to be expected, as the server she was loaded into was incredibly powerful.

Nikki was much like a kid in a candy shop, as she would wander from left to right, looking at everything, with enthusiasm before skipping back to keep up with Jacob. "Everything here is so cool. Oh... Look at that. Did you see that guy? What the hell is that?" were among some of the comments she would make upon returning to his side. She hadn't taken a good look at the map he had displayed earlier, but if they did get lost she could pull one up on her display and direct them where to go. For now, she wanted to see if he was on the right track or not.

Nikki couldn't help but laugh. When not in the thralls of combat she had always been known to be loud, bubbly and bouncy. deep down she was still just a teenage girl, despite all the death and chaos she had witnessed in her life. her high energy was part of the reason why she was a cheerleader. After all, who better to spread spirit than someone who was themselves full of it. "Thank you... I do try my best to always be pumped up." regardless of how she was now if she were put into a fight, she would quickly change from a happy go lucky young woman to a fierce and serious combatant with few equals.

Jacob had been right, though. Everything here was like something out of a movie. Either the people walking around, or the tech scattered around. It was all so much to take in, and it would indeed take months to become familiar with everything. That would need to wait of course as they had now had drawn near to the VR station.

The room itself was large, with many many booths, and small rooms set up that were no doubt filled with VR chairs for people to sit in. Even now while she was here she had begun to access the VR network, from the main server. Once Jacob was set up and ready to go, she would port directly into his experience from the main server. That being said she would need to leave her bag with him before she started up. So far her own software seemed to interface well with the station's Advanced software.

"Alright Jacob. Let's get you a booth. I'm uh... I'm gonna come into the booth with you. don't go get any funny ideas." She wagged her finger at him, as she spoke before giving another little giggle. "It's just once I jump in my projector will stop, and I will need to make sure no one walks off with my stuff." She gestured to the many booths that stretched out in front of them so that he could lead the way and pick one that suited him best.

Nikki smiled as she followed Jacob into the Narrow booth. She allowed him a chance to get settled in the VR chair before she picked up what would be his headset and turned to face him. He had wanted some advice. "Yeah, I got a bit. first off... Nothing in there is real. SO like Don't freak out if some gnarly 100-foot dragon appears attempting to devour you whole. it's not real." She giggled knowing full well that something like wouldn't happen out in the open. if it did they would need to be in a dungeon or on some quest at least.

She Wasted no time in climbing up onto his lap and placing the VR headset on him before reclining back so that she was effectively laying on him. "and... from what I know.. You need to say Link Start to activate the simulation. After that, I'll see you on the other side." Once he had lost physical consciousness and slipped into the game, she followed suit, deactivating her collar and bracelet before disappearing entirely. Her gear dropping onto his linked up body.


It took a few moments for Nikki to Generate into the game. Her coding had a minor clash with the VR's programming, but only because she refused to start at the level 1 that the system had wanted her to. Instead, she overclocked the XP, based coding and managed to start using a slightly higher level, and slightly better gear. She stood for a few moments, as the games basic tutorial flashed in front of her, dictating how to level up, and how to go about completing quests. She knew it might take Jacob a few moments to get here as he would need to go through the basic character creation process unless of course the system simply scanned him in.

While she waited she took a few seconds to look around the starting area. There were other players walking around collecting starter quests and cashing in for basic gear. "Newbs!" She thought out loud as she rolled her eyes. XP based gear was a waste of effort, anyone who played seriously knew that renown based items were far superior. She took a second to look up their location on the map and quickly located a designated PVP area. It was not too far off, and probably featured chumps running around getting a taste for the mechanics. They were the perfect pray to farm.

She also became familiar with the HUD offered by the game. It was much like her own, back in Manta Carlos. Looking up she could see her own display name "Avacyn" Located above her health bar. Now all she needed was for Jacob to Arrive. She wondered what he might use as his Avatar name.

It took a few moments, but before too long Jacob had digitized into the game and was now standing in front of her. She could tell almost instantly that he had gone for a rogue class. The Bow was a dead giveaway. if anything that would make things easier for her, as she wouldn't need to worry about him getting in the way, he would either need to flank or shoot long range to get max damage. She also wondered if he wouldn't get a Pet at some point at a higher level.

Naturally, her own class had been a tank. Heavy defense with a minor boost to damage. Soak the damage, so that everyone else can hand it back out. it was easy enough, yet it seemed few people really knew how to do it right. Given her boosted level she was naturally gifted with a few additional abilities. Taunt, and guard was among them. The taunt would allow her to hold monster agro while her group, or in this case Jacob killed them. Guard would allow her to take half of a friendly target's damage. Basically, if anything managed to hit Jacob, all damage would be split between both of them. Her gear had a minor self-healing ability, so even without a pocket healer, she could maintain herself a little better.

"Lookin good... glass cannon type? You got a stealth or pet at a higher level? we can get you up real quick."

Nikki took a second to overlook her map. The PVP area wasn't far, but he couldn't run in like that. He would get farmed by every dickweed newb out there. They would need to pop a few levels before heading over there. Along the way, there would be a few quests of varying difficulty.

"Alrighty... We can walk down that road. There is a wolf quest with a basic armor reward. And a spider quest that can get you a cloak. We should also be able to earn enough coin to get you a better weapon, and hopefully enough XP to level you up a few times."

After that, there was a low-level boss quest she wanted to attempt. The story behind it was cultists had attacked a farm and were summoning a chaos giant. It was pretty standard, two waves of cultists getting progressively harder, before ultimately fighting the low tier boss Chaos Giant. She wasn't going to tell him about the giant, simply because she thought his reaction might be funny.

"How does that sound?"

Nikki began to laugh. She had been caught. "Yeah... Link Start was just for fun. I saw it on a show and thought it would be funny. And it totally was." She continued to laugh. It had been fun to get him to go along with it, and while it had done absolutely no damage at all, had still proven funny in its own way.

"C'mon ya big goof. We got things to kill." She said flashing a smile as she began to run down the road she had previously indicated. Not far off sat an NPC with a large bold ! over his head. "This is the guy we talk to. He will activate the quest for us, and provide the armor upgrade when we are done." She said as she approached the NPC and activated it.


Given that she and Jacob were in a group they could accept quests together and still achieve separate rewards. Nikki flashed a quick smile at Jacob before turning back to the NPC and confidently clicking accept on the little box that had appeared. "Right. so we bag 10 woofs total and return here." It was easy enough. Wolves didn't have a lot of health or even impressive stats. They could easily handle something like this. It was a good chance for him to get used to the game mechanics.

"So... This game works in a similar manner to real life. If you use a bow, you actually have to use it as if it were real, Aim as best as you can and don't worry if you miss." She wasn't aware of his past nor did she expect him to be able to work with much accuracy in regards to his weapon choice. Not right away anyway. "If you use stealth by crouching you get an automatic critical hit."

She smiled again as she drew her sword and shield. The sword was bulkier than what she was used to, and the shield smaller, but they would do the job until she was able to find some legendary gear. "Now let's go save that farm."
