Christopher walked slowly along the sidewalk, carefully taking in his surroundings. From his wandering for the past hour, he had found out that Sarah had picked the worse possible place to establish their base. Of course, she didn't think so, but after seeing what he had seen, Chris wasn't convinced. He had already been attacked by someone once, and decided to keep a keen eye out for anyone that might be sneaking up on him.
After coming to a turn in the sidewalk, he looked all around him, even though he wasn't crossing the street, and continued to follow the sidewalk. It was then that he noticed how clear the sky was. There wasn't a single cloud in sight. If he wasn't trying to be completely aware of his surroundings, he would've been going on a leisurely stroll.
Suddenly, the hairs on the back of Chris's neck stood up. He immediately pretended to drop something, stopped, and turned around to pick that "something" up. Once he stood back up, he discretely scanned his surroundings before continuing on his way. He decided that someone was definitely following him, but he didn't have the chance to see who it was or where they were.
Minutes later, when the thought of his pursuer had slipped to the back of his mind, Chris felt the feeling again. It was stronger this time and put him on high alert. He concealed his hand in his jacket so that no one would see if he summoned something. "Who's there?" he called out. All he could see was the buildings that lined the streets, but now he had no doubt that someone was there.
