Christopher walked slowly along the sidewalk, carefully taking in his surroundings. From his wandering for the past hour, he had found out that Sarah had picked the worse possible place to establish their base. Of course, she didn't think so, but after seeing what he had seen, Chris wasn't convinced. He had already been attacked by someone once, and decided to keep a keen eye out for anyone that might be sneaking up on him.

After coming to a turn in the sidewalk, he looked all around him, even though he wasn't crossing the street, and continued to follow the sidewalk. It was then that he noticed how clear the sky was. There wasn't a single cloud in sight. If he wasn't trying to be completely aware of his surroundings, he would've been going on a leisurely stroll.

Suddenly, the hairs on the back of Chris's neck stood up. He immediately pretended to drop something, stopped, and turned around to pick that "something" up. Once he stood back up, he discretely scanned his surroundings before continuing on his way. He decided that someone was definitely following him, but he didn't have the chance to see who it was or where they were.

Minutes later, when the thought of his pursuer had slipped to the back of his mind, Chris felt the feeling again. It was stronger this time and put him on high alert. He concealed his hand in his jacket so that no one would see if he summoned something. "Who's there?" he called out. All he could see was the buildings that lined the streets, but now he had no doubt that someone was there.

Irina Prowled silently as a shadow atop the rooftops, as she so often did when she sought prey demons to kill. Sometimes she would just be, stalking over a group picking out one to follow until they where alone and then strike hidden in the embrace of the night. Tonight was no exception. With the assumption that most, not all humans, go home at night and Irina would most likely find a demon to pierce with her arrows.

Of course, there is always that little doubt telling her that who she follows may not be a demon, so she devised a test and as with most tests it isn't foolproof however it has proven quite helpful. She was about to do her little test when something was wrong, her first instinct screamed that whoever she was following heard her arrow nudge her bow, but withholding decisions until she can make a better more educated gift.

Needing to duck behind the roof, loosing sight, because the weather was lousy for her activities, no clouds means the moon could potentially blow her cover by casting her shadow onto the ground with its illumination. Her belief that she was following a demon only grew stronger though her test was still needed.

She found that by surprising her prey, seeing if they somehow change or if not then by gauging their reactions, it was the next best thing to a demon tracking artefakt thing, if those things even existed but that is why she went to school, to find out about such things. When she could actually train her arrow on her target, without fear of being caught until after the first arrow landed, aiming first at the back as it was the easiest target and then moving on to the head.

Irina was a master archer and aimed one last time for good measure. She shoot the arrow, hitting her target, the ground. Her intentions was not to kill, at least not yet. The intent was to grace the side of the head, maybe cutting a few strands of hair but hopefully they would feel the air rush past their check.

But was the test a fail, as her blood rushed she couldn't tell if they had spoken before or after the arrow landed, but she did have the perfect answer to the question they asked, at least if you asked her "I am the night patrol".

Chris waited patiently for anything to happen. He held a calm expression, but millions of internal alarms were ringing in his head. He tensed his legs slightly, ready to spring into action the second something happened.

Seconds later, something briefly rushed past Chris's cheek. He immediately started sprinting, with no plan in particular as to where he was going. Fortunately, there was an alleyway coming up not too far away. He pushed his legs to move faster and slipped into the alleyway, pushing himself up against the corner. A small object appeared in his hand, and he held it loosely.

When Chis peeked around the corner, he saw an arrow lodged into the sidewalk right where he had been standing. His mind immediately began racing. Either the archer was a bad shot, or they had intended to hit the ground as a warning. He decided to assume the latter. It was always better to overestimate someone than to underestimate them when it came to combat.

"I don't want any trouble," he yelled out into the night. "Just tell me what you want and we can talk about this civilly."

In Irinas experience if it had been a shifter type of demon, their reflexes would make them shift, if even for a split second. Though if they had nerves of steel they could stay in Human form but then that would not explain running away, unless they where acting out Human behavior. Two ifs makes for very unlikely occurrence, like one in a million, though it was most likely not a shifter Irina knew there was still a tiny possibility, deciding to putting the thought in the back burner while still trying to determine its species.

Keeping up with the lie that she was the night patrol, she asked it "I have heard rumors of a vampire who breaks the Vampire eating law", though talking on her nightly hunt was quite tame for Irina, it had initiated the conversation and she intended to use it to her advantage. Maybe it could prove that it wasn't a Vampire and though it was a lie there may be a clue to an actual Vampire to hunt.

Still just a shadow atop the roofs, with only her golden eyes visible from that distance between themselves, unless the other had supernatural eyesight they would not see other details, unless she was more illuminated or got closer. When she heard the word civil spoken from something she believed to be a demon, her skin shifted to a little more rough. She also lost some accuracy with this change.

"Funny, coming from one such as you." she whispered, though not intended for the others ear, she really could not care, since she would kill it once she was certain it was a demon and this one seemed cooperative enough to take advantage of, to learn more. Because killing an innocent Human would make her a murderer.

Chris nearly chuckled, but immediately chastised himself for letting his guard down. He focused his hearing, but couldn't seem to hear anything other than the person's strange claim in his mind. He summoned a dagger and twirled it in his hand.

"Vampire?" he called out. "Do you think the vampire's me? I assure you, I'm no vampire, and I've never heard of any Vampire eating law." He had never seen or met a vampire, but he had read up on them. If what he read was true, he had no idea how someone might mistake him for a vampire. It was so ridiculous that he almost laughed again, but kept his composure this time in case something happened that required his attention.

Chris edged closer to the corner. "Look, I'm coming out now," he called out. "Just so you know, I have a dagger with me, but it's simply to protect myself. I will retaliate if you try something." He didn't wait for a response and swiftly walked into the street, holding out his dagger for all to see and keeping his eyes on his surroundings.

Ok, so he wasn't a vampire and with a reaction like that, he had to be human or at least not a demon, which meant that she had broken yet another law.. They weren't supposed to expose the supernatural to others who didn't know about it.

Irina jumped down from the roofs, landing with a pose in similar fashion of how knights kneel for their king. The human was to her right as she slowly stood up again, still with her bow attached on her back and as she stood up her skin smoothed out to look human again and with no thoughts of demons her eyes returned to light blue.

Turned her head to him with arms in the air to show she was unarmed aside from the bow on her back "You are not what I had hoped, my bad.." and with that she turned away to leave and let her arms rest.

Chris nearly jumped out of his skin when someone landed to his side, but he took extra care in not letting it show. He held his dagger in front of himself defensively, but the way the woman presented herself told him that she was not going to attack. Still, he did not move his dagger, as her mind could change at a moment's notice.

Chris's focus changed to the woman's shifting skin. He watched as it smoothed itself out. Not only that, but her eyes changed from whatever color they were to a light blue. Chris's first impression was that she was a human, but after seeing these slight changes, he changed his mind.

"You have some kind of demonic affinity," he said. "You're not completely demonic, but you're not completely human, either. Also. I can also tell that you didn't actually think that I was a vampire." Chris held his dagger closer, closely watching the woman's reaction to his words. "I don't mean to prod, but I can't just let someone take a shot at me without asking some questions. What did you really think I was?"

Irina hear what she wanted to hear, thinking that he called her a demon, her head spun in his direction quite fast as she turned to yell at him "Both my parents, by blood where Humans" her voice loud though not quite yelling. Her eyes changed back to golden again and her teeth where more sharp, with tiny canines growing from the corners of her mouth, She was Human, just.. Just infected with abomination , or so she had told herself ever since then.

"I didn't know what you where, but after tonight I know that I have said too much already" From what Irina could tell, telling others who are human and knows nothing or possess limited knowledge about the supernatural is a violation of the law. Lost in thoughts of how to deal with this, it wasn't the first time she had broken the law but in her mind killing demons didn't count and therefore this was the first law she considered. Walking back and forth thinking and trying to find of a way to fix it, while partially ignoring the other. After all fixing her mistake came first.

Chris tightened his grip on his dagger and took a quick step backwards. He waited for her to attack, but fortunately, the attack never came. He found that she wasn't lying about her parents being human, so with a few seconds of consideration, he deduced that she didn't like the fact that she had some kind of demon blood in her.

Chris simply watched as the woman walked back and forth. It was obvious that she was concerned about something, and although he didn't necessarily need to know why, he still couldn't let her off the hook. It wasn't in his nature to just let someone go when they randomly attacked people at night.

"What is going on, exactly?" Chris asked. "And don't bother trying to lie your way out. I can tell whether or not you're telling the truth."
