Definitely not the best idea

This probably was not a good decision in hindsight, but Alex was here now and he would see this through. Probably. Bringing Cami to a local art gallery was probably not a good idea. She was more interested in the other people than the paintings. Though she would stop every so often to look at some of the more brightly colored moving paintings. She was currently "hiding" under the bench he was sitting on. Whenever she'd move he'd block her with his foot to block her. So far it seemed to be working.

She seemed to relax for a moment before darting out and... towards someone in particular. A woman with blue hair, oh god what was a Rukt'in doing here? This would just be awkward. Cami stopped at the woman's feet and let out the meanest snarl she could muster.

"I'm sorry about her," he said, scooping up the baby into his arm.

"I'm uh, I'm Alex," He was going under the assumption that at least by this point any blue haired dragon at least knew of his clan.

Hiatus
Huilu was 398 years old. She had been through and seen many things. She had been in battle and in peace and she had seen corruption and purity. She had loved, hated and been indifferent. And all those things and experiences she always put in her art, put a small part of herself in every inch of ice she sculpted.
But today she could've as well been a blank slate as she stepped into the art gallery, her eyes wide and filled with child-like joy and curiosity. She might've been 398 years old but she had never seen art that was from outside her community. After arriving on the island Huilu had seen glimpses of art here and there but this place was dedicated for viewing art. This whole room was filled with it. And that elated Huilu's heart more than anything.
The moment she got in, wearing one of her more fancy outfits which was a white dress, Huilu almost jogged to see the closest painting in sight. She was aware that she wouldn't be able to run or jog in this place, although the notion almost slipped her mind when she saw the piece of art. It was unlike anything she had seen before, and Huilu got as close as was allowed and observed it for a long time. Everything about it was new to her, and Huilu"s face was lit up with the happiest smile. For a second she forgot about all the difficulties she was going through at the moment and just enjoyed the feelings art evoke in her.

Huilu moved to the next piece, and then to the next, asking people around her questions maybe bit too enthusiastically. But as Huilu was moving across the room to look at a statue a baby dragon ran up to her. Huilu looked down on them, and what she got was a pretty good mean snarl from a hatchling this age. Huilu smiled gently and squatted down.
"Well well, what have we here. Where is your guardian, feisty one?"
And just as she asked that he came over, apologizing, and scooped his offspring into his arms. Huilu looked up and rose from her squat with a chuckle.
"There is no need to apologize. Her snarl was quite good but unfortunately you need a lot more to sway me."
Huilu said jokingly, directing her words partly at the dragon baby too. Huilu observed the father bit closer and noted the red hair. Dragon, red hair, Drakenhardt. Or at least that was the route Huilu's brain went along because of what everyone had said about the Drakenhardts.
"Hello Alex, pleasure to meet both you and your lovely daughter. I'm Huilu Ehr'Sha
Huilu introduced herself with a small smile and tilted her head a bit with a curious look in her eyes.
"Now, correct me if I'm wrong but you are a part of the Drakenhardt clan, right? Although I wouldn't want to assume based on the hair colour alone."

"Yes, I'm a Drakenhardt. I take it you're one of the clans affiliated with the Rukt'in clan?" Alex was also making this assumption based on her hair color. It wasn't an unreasonable assumption considering their clans were heading towards more diplomatic relations. Cami let out a roar, but sort of settled in her father's arm. She curled herself up, and put her tail in her mouth.

"Right, this is my daughter, Cami. You won't find many hatchlings as ferocious as her."

So the man was a Drakenhardt, good. Huilu didn't want to insult anyone by assuming. At his question Huilu nodded and smiled, about to offer a hand to shake. But Cami was occupying Alex's arms so Huilu drew her hand back and chuckled.
"Yes, the Rukt'Ins are my cousins. I'm the clan leader of one of the sub-clans, Ehr'Sha."
It still felt slightly strange for Huilu to call herself by the name of a clan leader, but at the same time she felt proud and she looked like it too, having a quiet air of dignity.

Huilu looked at Cami in Alex's arms and her smile softened, the hatchling was quite adorable.
"I was able to witness it first-hand."
Huilu chuckled, wondering if Vivra and Cami had met. The two would get along, or fight like cats and dogs. Huilu was quite sure it would be the latter, or a mix of the two. Just the thought almost made her chuckle again.
"What brings you here, Alex? If you do not mind me asking."

"I figured this would be a nice outing for the two of us. But Cami would much rather try fighting older dragons to establish herself within the clan," he gave her a look, which was answered with a little roar. She was definitely the head of her branch, there was that air about her that clan leaders tended to have.

"How are you finding the island so far?"

Looking at the interactions between the two was delightful, and Huilu had a small constant smile on her face. Family was wonderful, or at least it could be.
"Art is not for all, and sometimes it takes maturity to see the potential it can hold. But it's wonderful of you to introduce Cami to art, it can affect her in unexpected ways."
Huilu chuckled a little, looking at both Alex and Cami. There was a look of mystery in her eyes that disappeared as fast as it had appeared.
"Besides, creativity is required in combat as well. You need the most unexpected stradegies to take your enemies by surprise, am I right?"
Huilu presented this question to Cami as well and smiled bit mischievously at the baby dragon.

Alex asked how Huilu found the island, and Huilu's was all but lit up. Her smile widened slightly and as she spoke she used her hands to emphasize her words.
"Oh, it's wonderful. After 398 years in the same environment the outside world and this island are so beautiful and inspiring. I did not know I could miss the scent of grass after rain or feeling of warm sea water on my toes despite never experiencing them before. It's like I'm seeing the world anew."

"If she's anything like me, her creativity will come out in fights, or in the kitchen," he smiled faintly at this. He always wondered what kind of person she would grow up to be. Hiulu seemed like this was definitely more to her speed. Alex admittedly wasn't huge into the art scene. He could appreciate a nice painting, but it wasn't something he was particularly passionate about.

"I can imagine. This island has so much variety, you can find something new just about every day... if you look hard enough."
