Pulling his matted hair out of his face with a hair tie, Lucas looked at the deer carcass with an exhausted smile. They had been meaning to cut it up for awhile, but instead, since Caius and him were both busy with the help effort they just ran through most of the previous stock. As messy as dressing meat could be, Lucas looked forward to spending some time with his dad. Though he was not much of a natural born hunter and not much of a werewolf either, only ever scoring small birds, Lucas was good with a knife and that was enough. After two years of volunteering to doing most of the gutting, he was pretty desensitized to the whole process, bloody intestines and all. Perhaps that was why he was not quite so apprehensive about Beatrice’s offer. He still grimaced while thinking back on that.

The roads were clear now and ordering pizza would have been much less of a hassle than sanitizing the table and fumbling through drawers to find the boning knife like he was doing, but for the first time in awhile, Lucas wanted to talk to Caius. After everything that had happened —- with Tomo and Riley having been nearly killed multiple times in one day, Lucas was on edge, just having his dad around was enough.

“ Hey Dad! It’s all set! You coming?” He asked in a cracked yell. His hearing was coming back after a few days, but it was still not enough to gauge out how loud he was speaking nor the approaching footsteps.

Caius's sharp ears picked up his son's voice, the winter incident had worried him greatly. His son getting pulled into another dimension and nearly killed, to put it lightly it'd greatly shaken him. He'd step into the shed, giving Lucas a smile before turning to look over his son's work.

"You did well," he'd say, looking over at him and nodding, "you always were good with a knife," he'd say, making sure to speak loudly enough. Opening a drawer he'd pull some tools from it, specialized knives as well as a specialized saw.

"How are you feeling?" he'd ask, it was good to have things going back to normal after the winter crisis, but he couldn't help but worry about Lucas.
