Private Deals are complicated buisness

Simmley happily strolled through the park with his cane in tow and a wide smile on his face as always. He wasn’t here to look at the lovely scenery around him however, he was here for business. Simmley had received word about a rather Satyr that was rather unhappy with their current financial situation and was looking to try and change that. Simmley just couldn’t resist possibly brokering a new deal and quickly rushed over to where the Satyr was last seen to try to make a deal with them.

Simmley spotted the Satyr, clothed in drab and torn apparel looking grimly out to the rest of the park. Simmley stood there for a moment, mentally getting into the right mindset, before rushing over to where the Satyr was seated.

“Hello hello my friend! Such a lovely day at the park is it not?” Simmley gave the Satyr a wider than average smile. The satyr looked up at Simmley, visibly confused as to why the strange man was talking to him. “Um....yea I guess so. Who are you?” Simmley gave a light chuckle and dug through one of his pockets, pulling out a business card and handing it to the man. “The name is Simmley, pleasure to be meeting you Mr......” The Satyr took the buisness card and simply said ‘Verik’ in response. “Mr. Verik then! You see I have heard about your less than savory financial situation and I wished to see if I could help you fix it! May I sit down?” The satyr paused for a moment, contemplating hard about what Simmley had just said before gesturing to the other side of the bench which Simmley quickly claimed as his own.

Malicia could smell desperation nearby, and it was strong. Strong enough that she had no doubt that another demon, or honestly any kind of less morally inclined deal-making entity, would be able to detect it too. When she got there, though, she cursed herself for taking too long. Whoever it was sitting next to him had to be someone else looking to make a deal. She had to wait for the right time to try and interrupt, shifting into her much smaller form and flying up into a tree near the bench to observe.

“So Mr. Verik, about your financial situation. I’ve been told it isn’t that great, and that is why I’m here. I can make all of your troubles...disappear.” Simmley did a little hand wave as he said disappear, which cause the satyr to roll his eyes. “That’s great uh...Simmley but no offense, this sounds super sketchy and possibly illegal.”

Simmley laughed a little and shook his head “Oh no not at all my dear friend! You see I make sure to work in the realm of complete legality. I make sure to give you exactly what you want, and all I need is a little handshake and a small payment at the end of our contract.” The satyr’s eyes narrowed a little “Payment? I don’t think I need to ask what kind of payment you need do I?” Simmley laughed once again “Yes my friend, if you want to never worry about your financial situation for the rest of your life, I’m going to need your eternal soul. But be honest, it’s not like you’re really going to need it after you pass away. I promise it will be in the most capable hands I know, my own.”

She couldn't just sit by and let this happen. She had to do something to try and make sure this poor man didn't give up his soul. She called out from the tree, flying down next to the bench and landing back in her humanoid form.
"Wait! You are absolutely going to need your soul after you die, I can guarantee it! If you're not careful with it you can end up consigning yourself to eternal agony for a few years on Earth!" She explained quickly, not bothering to introduce herself right away or to address the fact that she was eavesdropping.

The satyr jumped a little as the strange girl flew down next to them, Simmley did not seem to make any type of movement. “Is this girl with you?” The satyr asked, staring at the girl with wild eyes. Simmley just laughed a little “No no Mr Verik, I must say I have no clue who this young lady is. And I must ask her to please not intervene on matters that don’t concern her.” Simmley slowly turned and stared at the girl, the big happy smile still glued to his face but something...far darker hid behind it.

Simmley quickly turned back to Verik. “Besides my friend, where would a Satyr’s soul go when they die?” The satyr paused and thought for a moment before shrugging. “Exactly! So what’s the big deal in trading it with me? Besides, this lady probably just wants to take your soul for herself. Her appearance says it all, a demon trying to take your soul for eternal torment. Just trying to butter you up and get your trust.”

"I'm not trying to do that! I don't want anyone's soul!" She replied, frustration starting to grow in her voice as she realized the disadvantage that she was at. She knew that she had to find some way to get the Satyr to trust her, but she was at a loss for what to do. In a panic she started to babble.
"I would never ask for anything that would actually hurt someone! My deals aren't as good as others, but they work!" She tried to sound honest there. She just ended up coming across more sinister.

As the girl babbled, Simmley just sighed a little and shook his head. Verik narrowed his eyes at the girl, suspicious of her true motives based on her appearance and what Simmley had been saying about demons. “You are just digging your hole deeper my dear. Besides, you said it yourself: Your deals aren’t as good. My deals however, have 100% satisfaction guaranteed. My customers get exactly what they want, and no strings attached.”

Simmley snapped his fingers, and a long contract with a pen and quill manifested infront of Verik, unrolling itself to show him all of the terms and conditions of the deal, as well as a nice thick line at the bottom for his signature. “All the conditions of the deal are right there Mr. Verik. If you even want to exit our deal early there is an escape clause near the bottom.” Verik began to read the deal’s terms, but it was obvious he still wasn’t 100% sure if he would agree to this deal yet.

"Okay! Fine! Whatever! Don't take my deal, but don't take any deal!" She said, trying to think of any way she could to convince the Satyr not to sign off his soul. She took a moment just to glare at Simmley instead of actually responding to him by saying anything. She took a deep breath, knowing that she wasn't getting anywhere this worked up.
"I've seen the escape clause trick before. You won't really get how much your soul's worth until you're dead and there's no returns after that." She explained, now very deliberately not making eye contact with the other contractor.

Verik sighed a little, all this arguing was just too much for him honestly. “Sorry...Simmley right? I don’t think I can sign on this now...I have to think about it some more.” Simmley turned back to look at Verik, still seemingly all cheery despite this news. “It’s completely fine Mr. Verik. Take all the time you need, and if you do decide to take my deal just give me a call. You’ve got my card after all.” Verik nodded and got up from where he sat, walking off to god knows where.

Once Verik was out of ear shot Simmley turned to the girl who had interrupted his deal, the smile still plastered on his face. “I wouldn’t recommend butting heads with another’s business little one. Many in this practice aren’t as passive as me. On top of that it’s quite rude, some of us need to make a living you know.”

She watched, her breath held while she waited for Verik to make a decision, only finally breathing a sigh of relief once he'd left.
Then she turned to Simmley. Malicia just stared back at him, her arms crossed. She was not about to let someone lecture her for stopping them from taking a soul.
"You're a predator." She said, her voice trembling with disgust and anger while her single eye stayed locked onto him. "And, also, you don't scare me." She added onto that, standing firm in front of him.
