Sitting up against a tree, Scarlet's lips moved slightly to the words on the page as she read the book in her hands. It was a nice sunny day but her spirits were down. She had no idea why, though. It may have been the poetry she was reading, or just one of her 'moods'. Either way, she hoped no one bothered her, for she wasn't in the mood for talking. And that was verbally or through her mind.

Closing the book, Scarlet laid in in her lap after crossing her ankles. She then closed her eyes and thought about going back to her dorm, but dismissed the thought. The weather probably wouldn't stay this nice for very long, and she wanted to enjoy it--even if she wasn't in that great of a moon.

A lean, young, boy had made his way outside the academy and into the lawn. Wearing his typical red t-shirt and light blue jeans, his fiery red eyes and hair glistening in the sunlight, he needed a place to relax and let loose. This boy was Deacon, another new guy. He slowly strolled through the lawn to see an area with trees providing and abundance of shade. He thought that this would be great spot so he proceeded to one of the trees and sat down with his back against the trunk of it. "Nice." He let out a sigh of relief as he laid back and closed his eyes, not knowing that a girl was sitting at the same tree, on the other side of it.

Shin wandered through the forest, coming to stand in front of Scarlet without realizing it. He popped his knuckles. "Here goes nothing..." He said softly. Suddenly, Shin began to change; His body expanded and hardened into solid rock. Soon he was a lumbering construct of stone with an enormous socket in his chest. His ring had come off when he had begun, and the 'glass' eyeball on it blinked before coming free of the ring. It expanded until it fit perfectly into the beachball sized socket in the golem-like creature's chest. "Transformation: Success." Shin said, clearly unamused. A sizable laser erupted from the eye, utterly annihilating a tree. Afterwards, Shin stood still while waiting for his eye to regain its sight.

When someone appeared in front of Scarlet, she started in surprise. Staring, she saw it change into a rock formation. Wish Ivan were here. If this...thing tried doing what he had just done with that tree....well, she wouldn't be seeing Ivan anymore. But at least with him there he could have told her what it was saying.

Making herself go back to reading her book, she found herself peeking over the top of the book every once in a while to look at the thing.

Soon, Shin could see again, and felt someone watching him. He shifted his body as quickly as he could, which was still extremely slow. As his great eye met Scarlet's he reared back in surprise, collapsing onto his back. He would have slowly lifted himself up, but that would take far too long. Instead, he shifted into the form of a young girl. Her dark red hair went down to the back of her knees. Her bright red eyes sparkled. She was half Scarlet's height. Shin had chosen this form because as far as he knew women got along best with women. "How long have you been there?" She asked, still rather shaken that she was being watched in the middle of testing her power.

"Longer than you have," she answered slowly. Her eyebrows rose and she stared.

"I-I'm terribly sorry if I disturbed you. I'm still getting used to this bod- I mean school. I still haven't gotten settled into this school." <That was a close one.> The eyeball rested in a pendant around the girl's neck, staring at Scarlet and blinking every now and then.

Scarlet hadn't caught all the girl had said, but forgot about tht fact when she saw an eyeball blinking at her. Eyes wide, she asked cautiously, "What is that...thing?"

Shin became pale. The woman had seen it! "This?" She asked, lifting the necklace. "This is..." She searched for an excuse. "My pendant. My... Uh... Father, got it for me from... Um... Egypt!" <Perfect. She'll never know.>

Scarlet nodded slowly. "Oh. Well....it's kinda freaky." She put her bookmark on the right page and closed the book.
