The game was afoot. He buttoned up his coat, slung his messenger bag over his shoulder and slipped on his gloves. The silvery-white scarf hung loosely around his neck and he took a moment to breathe in, breathe out. A hand reached down to tap his bag. Good. His flute case was in the large pocket, just in case it was needed. He glanced outside, noting the dim lightning of dusk. If nothing else, music might help him calm down. His anxiety was building and it was almost to a point where he could feel it physically.

The fact that he had her as a partner didn't help.

He had seen her walking around campus a few times before and a shroud of mystery enveloped her. Thanks to the excessive amount of technology she carried with her, Elisha hadn't quite been sure what was coming from the contraptions and what was coming from the girl herself. Along with the message about their job came a brief description of the other person that he was to be working with. Apparently the girl's name was Alyssa Snitsle and the gadgets she donned assisted with her powers. Or something like that.

The boy shrugged, took a deep breath of air, then began floating a few inches higher than he had been before. Where was she? He had sent her a message saying to meet outside the dormitories at dusk and they could head to the city from there. He ran his fingers through his dark hair and looked around. Perhaps he should send another message.
  • Alyssa - I'm outside the dormitory, ready to go investigate downtown. Transit isn't running, so we'll have to go by foot. Please hurry. Make sure you bring what you'll need. -Elisha[/list:u]
With a quick flick of his finger, it was sent and hopefully she'd be here soon so they could get going. After all, Nurse Glaisyer's message out to the students was filled with urgency and perhaps even panic.

Alyssa hurried down the stairs, her small compact backpack close to her back. She rarely took this with her, but for the situation at hand, she may need it. She rushed down the stairs, her bare feet slapping against the cool ground. Her PDA went off and she slid it out of one of her sleeves on the mechanism she had gotten from her father. So she would never lose anything she needed on hand. She pressed a button and the message played in her headset so nobody else could hear.

"Alyssa - I'm outside the dormitory, ready to go investigate downtown. Transit isn't running, so we'll have to go by foot. Please hurry. Make sure you bring what you'll need. -Elisha"

She hurried up her steps and made it out the door, her enhanced sense of touch showed her that he was ahead of her and she stopped. She didn't know Eli...she didn't know what to say. She didn't want to look like a fool. She...fell.

Her butt impacted the ground and she let out a small yelp. Her hair moved slightly to reveal her blind eyes before she reached back to rub her butt. "Owww...th-that h-hurt." She pushed herself up and walked over to him awkwardly, too preoccupied with what she was going to say than with the fact that her eyes were revealed.

She stared straight ahead. "H-hello E-e-elisha. I-I'm A-Alyssa. Y-y-you can c-call m-m-me B-bell."

((I do apologise for the slow reply, but life got kind of crazy this past week x_x))

Only a couple minutes had passed, if that, when a girl ran out of the dormitory and fell flat on her face, only about a foot and a half away from where Elisha was hovering. Up close, she looked different than when he'd spotted her a few days ago, walking across the courtyard, probably on her way to classes. As she picked herself off the ground, her words seemed rather nervous and jumbled to him.

So she's just as nervous as the rest of us are... he thought to himself, careful to keep his thoughts private. If he could read thoughts, albeit with a fair amount of difficulty and focus, no doubt there were others who could, as well.

"Hello." His voice was curt; though it was far from a cold tone, it was hardly welcoming either. "If you are uninjured, we should head downtown." There was a short pause as he surveyed Bell. She was a bit taller than him, though currently, their eyes were on-level with each other. As he took a moment to observe her, he let out a quiet gasp. So that was the odd sensation he'd felt... it wasn't the technology (though he doubted it helped ease his anxiety about the girl)... it was the fact that, unlike so many other people whose emotions could be clearly seen in their eyes, hers were clouded.

Even so, she still seemed nervous. And, although this may not help, he took a deep breath, removed his right hand from the glove, stuck the glove in his pocket and reached out to her. "Take my hand?" he offered, his voice nearly half mental. He breathed out slowly, trying to project an aura of calmness towards Bell. Though this night had already gotten off to a rocky start and he reckoned it was going to get much worse before it got better, it was the least he could do to help. He just hoped Bell was willing to trust him enough for them to work well together.

Alyssa squeaked as he spoke in a curt tone. She knew that he was impatient...but the tone he used kinda...scared her to no end. Then she heard him gasp and she reached her shaking hand up to her face...feeling that the hair was no longer in front of her eyes. She squeaked louder and moved her hair back down so it covered her blind eyes. She brought her hand back down to her side and looked fine. But inside she was terrified.

What if he hates me? What if he leaves me behind? What if... She started to kid herself thinking that this wasn't such a great idea. Then she heard the boy talk to her and her bell on her right ear rang softly. He had just moved his hand towards her. She reached up and took it softly, her hand obviously shaking.

Then she felt herself...calm down. As if her mind was cleared from the stresses that had plagued her. It seemed temporary though and probably would only last for the night. So for the first time in years...she spoke without her stutter.

"I'm...sorry for seeming nervous. It's just...I'm like that all the time. Ever since I started to get abused for being "blind" and having all of this assistant equipment that my father made. Without this..." She pointed to the headphones, "I would go...insane."
