"Artist? Who're you calling an artist?" He chuckled, standing and stretching up himself. If his back was exposed, one could probably see how the muscles shifted just underneath his scarred up skin as if 'stretching' along with his arms, too. His wings were actually very expressive if they weren't so hidden all the time.

"I don't consider myself an artist. I like to paint and draw to pass the time, and when you have as much time as I do, you paint and draw a whole lot." He strode towards the studio room and pushed open the door easily, without so much as a hesitation. It was obvious this room got the most light in the apartment, as everything was sort of bathed in that late-evening glow.

The place was a bit of a mess. Lots of canvases, lots of paint, lots of brushes and jars and bottles and easels. A half finished painting sat on one easel, having been abandoned just before his shift at work that morning. A few finished ones sat leaned up against the walls to dry; the small space smelled of brush cleaner and oil.

"My humble little studio. Not too bad, really. There's a nice view out the window."

Well, obviously he wasn't as self conscious as he had thought. Tybalt didn't seem hesitant at all, and he followed him into the studio, trailing behind so he could get a good view.

His first thought was not a particularly nice one: That Tybalt obviously had money. The average person on a cop's salary wasn't going to be able to afford this amount of art supplies, but when you'd been around for as long as Tybalt had and didn't get sick... well, you probably built up a nice nest egg that let you be able to afford things like this.

He perused the paintings, eyes running over the canvases against the walls before finally settling on the half finished piece. He couldn't help it, giving Tybalt a hurt look.

"Come on, you've got this all wrong. You're supposed to have a mostly finished sketch of me sitting on the easel so I can understand the depth of your true feelings. Clearly you haven't watched enough romcoms."

There was a pause of a good ten or fifteen seconds as Angelo commented on the state, or lack of, his sketches. Tybalt proceeded to reach over and grab one of said sketchbooks, weigh it in his hand... And gave Angelo a light thwack upside the head with it. It was only a cardboard cover with relatively cheap paper, so it wouldn't hurt too badly.

"You idiot." He scoffed, but in a somewhat playful manner. "If you want me to draw you posing like a French girl then fine, but then you have to draw me. How about that?" He wasn't expecting much. Maybe he should, because Angelo had proven to be full of surprises that day.

He wouldn't mind a shitty little drawing from Angelot frame at his desk, anyways. And what if it turned out to be good? Framed in his little studio. Or something. Ah, he was getting mushy, wasn't he?

Angelo saw it coming, but he didn't try to get out of the way - just ducked a bit, letting out a burst of laughter as Tybalt scolded him. "You'd end up with a very artistic drawing of a sexy stick figure." He was not an artist. Far from it - there was hardly an artistic bone in his body, and if there ever was one, it'd probably be Tybalts.

"You're quite the artist, I have to say." He said with a small chuckle, perusing the paintings that were leaned against the wall. "And whose to say I'd pose like a french girl? If I was going to pose, I'd go all out. Rose between the teeth and all until you can't even finish the sketch because you're laughing too hard." He'd kind of like to see that, actually. Tybalt was a pretty serious person at work, so he didn't get to see a lot of that - him just laughing endlessly. He seemed far more relaxed at home. Less stuffy.

"Sexy stick figure? I'd frame it. Put it on my desk. Make a little tag with your name right on it." He didn't have boobs, so he wasn't entirely sure how one would make a stick figure sexy in that regard. Really, he didn't ask; he wasn't even sure if he wanted to find out if it came around to it.

"Thank you. I've had years and years of practice." He'd been painting since he landed on earth, almost since the very idea came around from rock to canvas. He'd loved the art that came into being during the High Renaisssance, but the Rococo era hadn't been too bad. "Throw in some white drapery, maybe a reclining couch, and we're golden."

Actually, would he mind seeing that?

"Otherwise, peruse at your leisure. I don't have much to hide in here. Not like I paint out my worst secrets or anything." And, unlike many artists these days, he really didn't. The majority of his paintings looked like still lifes, many of them cheery and sunny.

He seemed to relax a bit, although it meant he looked less like he was about to joke about something. He half turned, looking over his shoulder at Tybalt.

"Honestly, it was one of my biggest concerns - that you were... I don't know, closed off. That I was going to go on this date and find nothing about you. You're pretty closed off at work." It was a moment of real honesty, and it showed on his face. "Kind of nice to know you're a bit more relaxed at home. I'm not exactly big on secrets." He gave a little shrug. "As... well, I'm sure you guessed." Not hard to figure out. He could keep them, but he didn't really like them. Personal ones anyway - work related was a whole other deal.

"Closed off?" There was a few seconds pause before he shrugged. "I mean, you're not wrong..." He was, indeed, rather closed off. Not through any insistence of his own, but it took a while to open up again after the whole fallen angel thing. Of course it took its toll on how open he was with people, especially because during the period in which he fell, people were awfully religious.

"Work and home are... very different, if you haven't noticed." He gently placed the sketchbook back down where he'd picked it up with a bit of a huff. "I mean, I guess I could be. But for good reason."

"Besides, considering you're not big on secrets, I guess it's a good thing that I'm secretive, no?"

He couldn't really blame him for being secretive. No matter how much the island was supposed to be a paradise, there was still a certain amount of prejudice. Demons had it bad, as did anything else that was stereotypically going to eat humans. There weren't many true humans on the island, but those who considered themselves human still often clung to old prejudices. In truth, part of it was simply logical. When you were dealing with a species that literally existed to prey on your own, it was hard to look past that.

"Not trying to be mean or anything." Ahh, he'd gotten all muddled, hadn't he? "I just... well, if you acted like you did at work, I'd have no idea what you were really like." He'd already said that more or less, hadn't he? Ahh, he was getting flustered, and it was no doubt showing on his face.

"Acted like I did at work?" Oh, so mildly offputting, constantly scowling and brooding over his desk whenever he wasn't out to lunch? Yeah, he could see why he wasn't exactly the most approachable sort in the office. He'd been there for quite a while, honestly, so having seniority on top of being none too pleasant looking in the face made it especially intimidating for new recruits to try and crack a joke at him.

Well, most of them. Angelo apparently took a shine to him right away. What the hell was wrong with that man?

But this was the first time he'd seen him embarrassed. It could have almost been cute on him. Okay, so maybe it was. He looked kind of wide-eyed, as if he was trying to backpeddle on something stupid that came out of his mouth.

"Most people aren't as insistent as you when trying to get to know me."

Angelo let out a little huff. "It's not like it's a bad trait. You could say I see the best in people." Which was a positive trait no matter what kind of cheesy romance novels you happened to be reading. "I like getting to know people, and you're my partner, so knowing you is all the more important. Things like strengths and weaknesses help us in the field, and I have to admit I liked what I saw."

Not so much what he'd heard, because he wasn't quite sure what to make of Tybalt being a fallen angel. In truth, a part of him was still having trouble believing it. He just didn't seem the type.

"I suppose I should probably get going home." He said with a sigh. He'd had dinner, they'd hung out, and... well, they had work the next morning. He'd already taken the day off, and it probably was going to be at least another week before he could really make time again.
