Certainly Altizica had greatly underestimated the benefits of being his own being. As he was not tied down he could do anything he wanted, go anywhere he pleased. But right now all he wanted to do was spend time with his lovely adopted daughter Sinaloa. It was Sinaloa that had brought Altizica to the point he was now after all, he wanted to become a better person so she could actually have a dad to look up to.

Altizica had decided that he wanted to teach Sinaloa about the Eldritch ‘culture’,or, at least, Eldritch customs. He practically treated her like she was of his own blood so why not teach her about her father’s people. “Alright. I think that explains the nature of Shoggoth and the Eldritch. Anything specific you wanted to know about Eldritch?” Altizica always hoped he didn’t bore her with these lessons. She always seemed happy and interested but he wasn’t ever full sure if that was legitimate enthusiasm.

Sinaloa was curled up sideways on the couch, pencil still tightly gripped in her hand while all her papers spilled off her lap and onto the floor. A stack of textbooks sat on the coffee table in front of her along with binders for each subject. It was only remedial classes, nothing so difficult she couldn't handle it but Sinaloa was putting all her effort into getting good grades. So much that her falling asleep at the drop of a hat wasn't uncommon in the past week.

The paper at the top of the fallen pile was a doodle of herself and Altizica; as crude as it may be the subject was clearly understandable. There was no doubt that Sinaloa enjoyed every moment spent with her adoptive father evidenced not only by the occasional heart-encircled doodle but also by the detailed notes she took at every lesson he gave.

Amly was grinning as she had been walking around town pretty aimlessly taking in everything she saw and treating new information like gospel by committing every new thing she saw to heart. Generally speaking though, the amount of unexpected things that seemed to occur already seemed to dwindle a little.

After a while of wandering, Amly finally found herself at the door of her brother’s house. While usually she would have continued walking past, she was bored enough to knock on his door and check in on him. Well, to be honest, she was more wanting to mess with him a bit than check in on him.

She then grinned and called out from the door.

“Alty, your dearest sister is sitting outside in the cold you would never leave me waiting here right?”

Altizica picked up the top paper of the fallen pile. He couldn’t help but smile at it. At least he was doing something right he supposed. He put it back on top of the pile and walked over to the other side of the couch to get the covers. He draped the covers over Sinaloa and lightly kissed her cheek.

Immedital after he put the covers on Sinaloa he heard the call from the door. It was Amlydhri. Alt couldn’t help but take a deep sigh, question what his sister would want from him now. He walked over to the door and swung it open. “Hello Amlydhri. What would you want I wonder? Perhaps you have information on my lar-“ Before Alt could finish his sentence he felt a sharp pain from his abdomen, he looked down to see a long spiky tendril impaling him. Behind him was a deep monstrous voice “Why not ask him in person my pitiful child?” Altizica was flung backwards with immense force, smashing through one of the walls and crashing into the living room. Before Amlydhri now was someone who looked much like Altizica but had two black, endless eyes and the entire body was twisted and misshapen. Amly would have immediately noticed it was Alt’s larger self, the Great Devourer.

Sinaloa rolled in her sleep, falling off the sofa with a thud and a squeak. Tangled in the blanket that Altizica had just draped over top of her, she wriggled across the floor in an odd sort of army crawl combined with the worm to free herself. Before she could even stand up, Altizica crashed through the wall above her and landed on the other side of the living room.

Tiny froze, her thoughts moving too quickly to be comprehensible, let alone logical. After a solid moment of heavy, stunned silence, she leaped from the floor and dashed to her father's side. Her hands were shaking, and her vision blurred for no reason she could comprehend until after a tear had trailed down to her chin and fallen to the ground.

"Dad... Dad are you okay?"

Tiny withdrew into herself, chewing on her sleeve and trying to hold back a sob.

"You can't die, not you too. I need you."

Amly knew exactly what was happening and she didn't like it. The manifestation of Alt's true personality was something that she had come to expect, but not something that she was prepared to deal with so early. Her mind raced as she thought about how to deal with this, force was out of the question since she didn't have the means. Very quickly she came to the conclusion that she wouldn't be able to directly affect Alt's current situation.

After another second of thought, she ascertained that Alt would probably have cared more for her to help his child instead of taking a purposeful act against the great devourer and as a result she beelined towards Tiny. And put a hand on her shoulder.

"little one, back up it is dangerous for you to stand here."

Alt saw the horror on Sinaloa’s face and gasped a breath of air, his body quickly sealing up the hole given to him. Alt jumped to his feet but the Devourer was already there, blinking from his original position to this one. The Devourer wrapped a hand tightly around Alt’s throat, lifting him up into the air in the process. All Altizica could do was helplessly grasp at the Devourer’s arm. “‘Not even a single hit. Are you even more pathetic than I originally anticipated? You’ve made a mockery of my name, the inhabitants of this damn rock only laughing when it is spoken. You lost not only to a child but a mere human? Worthless runt...you are not fit to be my spawn, you are not fit to be Eldritch.” The Devourer moved his other hand inches away from Alt’s face. Suddenly, Alt would gag and a dark mist would seep from Alt’s mouth and nostrils, only to get sucked into the Devourer’s hand.

Amly's voice echoed in Tiny's skull, the sound just as distorted as her vision. She couldn't process the events happening in front of her. It was a scattered series of sounds and images, none of them correlated. Blood spattered on cracked concrete steps. A black monstrosity looming over Altizica. Guns firing. Altizica choking, suffocated by the Devourer. Tiny whimpered, turning around to hug Almy's legs and sob.

"Daddy can't die... right? He's eldritch, he's immortal he couldn't possibly die."

Tiny continued rambling, some of the words so slurred that they were unintelligible mush. Her grip on Almy only tightened the longer it went on, unable to cope with the scene playing out before her.
