Fia Areli smirked, time to test how strong she was. She was going to cut down as much as she could on her way to Dark Crystal Academy. She wanted to make the trip in a day that was her goal, her goal of things cuts down was 10,000. She figured some would be small fry, but she didn't know how strong the bigger ones would be. She smirked, since the barrier had been broken it would be easy to get over the brook since you could see how big it was. She knew if she could jump half way at least she'd be able to cut her way to shore. She didn't like how mermaids fought though, she hated how they liked to play the "I can breath underwater and you can't card" she drew her sword and backed up and ran then dove into the brook. She swim for the other side as a small flock of weakling mutants followed her.

She stopped knowing since they had fins they'd catch up. She knew it'd be hard to get them since they moved fast but she imagined them as big fish her sword a spear she jabbed with quick speed stabbing on. As more came to attack she sent a quick sword strike to make them stop for a second as she swam off. She didn't want to play around with small fry underwater working in groups. She soon made it to the the side as one grabbed onto her leg and another. She made a quick motion cutting off the hands which had grabbed onto her. She smirked and walked on, she didn't need to exert herself for such low mermaids, besides it wasn't fun enough for her. She suddenly noticed she was hungry, she often times didn't notice it until it was too late. She sighed searching the water for real fish but she didn't see one. "Hmm... Mermaid steak... Maybe it'd taste good." She wondered.

She sat down near the water contemplating whether to try and catch one or go for a land animal. She was hungry and didn't want berries since they would only keep one full for a short while, and didn't give you muscles. She sighed, she looked for something to eat decided she didn't know if the mermaids were poisonous or not. She found some berries and made a sour face as she pictured a nice steak or tuna she ate some berries. And sighed, she really wished she had ate before leaving since the berries were a bit bitter. She continued on looking for something to cut down in her way.

Dean stood at the edge of the brook, observing the things around him. He'd never actually ventured in there before, but this time he did out of sheer curiosity if anything. He'd heard stories about how the mermaid in the water weren't as sweet as the ones he'd always hear about in stories and see in movies, which had also struck his curiosity. He'd never met a mermaid before, and surely they all couldn't be evil, right?

The boy peered over into the dark depths of the brook and noticed a few figures in the water. He leaned in a bit closer to get a better look, but when the head and arms surfaced, quickly trying to grab hold of his legs, Dean quickly took several steps back and shivered. Talk about creepy. Then suddenly he heard a splash, like something had just fallen into the water. He looked around and noticed the small figure of a girl swimming in the brook. The mermaid returned below the surface and swam on after the girl with great speed.

From the brook Dean watched as the girl headed towards the other side before the mermaids could get her. Dean could tell something was familiar about her, but he couldn't place his finger on it. When the girl began stabbing at the creatures with her sword, the familiarity struck him even more. He'd seen that sword before...but where? Overflown with curiosity -something he always hated when it happened- Dean teleported himself to the opposite side of the brook where the girl was now sitting. Within a few seconds, he appeared standing right beside the girl, and said, "Hey."

"Ey" She said without much thought, she wasn't one to remember names or people she didn't enjoy fighting with. She loved to fight, her love of fighting only grew into a need to fight and death didn't matter. Pain was nothing but something that made her only enjoy a fight more. She had weird thrills for a girl, she'd be the type that would be watching a fighting show and get up and accidently attack the tv because she was so enthrilled or annoyed at the other person fighting. She absolutely loved fighting to the death, she never found something more enjoyable than someone trying to kill her. Recently she had realized she wasn't fitting well with her boyfriend on the subject of fighting.

She realized that even though he was someone she wished to protect she would only hurt him by remaining. So she decided to go fight, fighting often had a meaning inside a meaning for her. Sometimes the way she chose things wasn't very logical. She usually based her decisions on luck and sharp objects. Let's say someone asked her to marry them, she'd take a knife and drop it and if it hit her it'd be no and if it didn't it'd be yes. That was the way her mind worked, though when it came to fighting she didn't need to test her luck on the subject. She had her bandana fastened as usual hiding her soft eyes from view. A enjoyable smirk on her face, "You came to fight too? Or are you just a observer?" She sounded cocky and sure of her self, one could obiviously see she was in a good mood. And when she was in a good mood she never held back her power.

She would sometimes not kill people, but that was mainly if they were strong enough to one day defeat her. She rather liked the idea of someone training themselves to defeat her or kill her. Or even having someone be able to kill her. She wished she had friends that understood her insanity and will to fight just for a fight. She didn't fight for good or evil she fought for fun. She smirked, "You strong?" The way she said it was obivious she wanted to fight someone strong. She hated fighting weaklings that didn't strive to be stronger or try. She liked people who put everything on the line.

Over all, Dean had a good memory. When he appeared beside the girl, his memory of her struck him hard, remembering where they'd first met. In the mountains, though her name wouldn't come up as quickly as their encounter. He hadn't seen the girl since their little fight in the mountains, and frankly, Dean didn't care. He definitely wasn't going to ask for a second one. Fia! That was her name. It kind of just popped back into Dean's head. He bent down and took a seat next to Fia. "So, what are you doing here?"

"You came to fight too? Or are you just a observer?"

Well that answered the question he asked. She was obviously fighting the mermaid no doubt, but he had no idea why. Sure, they were vicious creatures, but why did she even come here in the first place. Dean was quite oblivious to certain things, and this was one of those things. "No, I'm I'm here to fight," Dean said, a slight lie. True he loved fighting but he hadn't come to where he was with the purpose of fighting. But since he was here...what the heck?

She ignored his question since she figured she already answered it. She looked at him, she didn't remember him much only slightly. She wasn't one to remember faces of people she fought and they both stopped fighting. She only remembered those who defeated her or posed a threat, she liked a threat though. Threats often made things more interesting. She found herself falling into her old self when she was able to fight without holding back. She liked to be the person she was made to be. She lost that at the academy since there wasn't any fighting often.

"Hmm... I want to fight something strong, these mutants are weaklings." She said noticing their lack of muscle. She sighed bored. She walked farther into the area.

"No, I'm I'm here to fight,"

She smirked, "Well why aren't you ready, you have no pose. You really shouldn't wonder off with no sense of dirrection you could easily get killed now that the barrier is down meaning we can move faster to the stronger beasts instead of fighting our way around or above it." She said figuring he prolly wandered here without even the intention to fight and then didn't want to seem like a idiot and said he was going to fight anyway. She shrugged away the thought.

"Hmm... I want to fight something strong, these mutants are weaklings."

Dean sighed and just stood there, watching the mermaids, their heads peeping through the surface of the water. Watching them. He shrugged, unmoved by their constant glares. He wasn't sure how weak the mermaids were, since he'd never fought one, but according to Fia, they were pretty weak. Was that all she thought about? Fighting? it's like she couldn't even take a break for a bit before having the urge to fight something. And now she wants to fight a stronger creature. "Then go find something stronger to fight, who's stopping you?"

"Well why aren't you ready, you have no pose. You really shouldn't wonder off with no sense of dirrection you could easily get killed now that the barrier is down meaning we can move faster to the stronger beasts instead of fighting our way around or above it."

Honestly, Dean had no idea of what Fia was talking about. Sure, he'd heard around about the barrier and all, but it was only little bits he'd heard. Not the entire story. Big deal, Dean wasn't actually here to fight, and he had a feeling that Fia thought so, but it didn't matter. He'd start fighting whenever he wanted. He'd never used the whole technique and the pose and stuff before. Yeah, he'd have a pose and all but he'd always be ready to fight, even if it didn't look like it. He preferred to improvise sometimes. "I am ready to fight. Just because it doesn't look like it doesn't mean I'm not."

"Then go find something stronger to fight, who's stopping you?"

"I don't know where the stronger monsters are." She said annoyed, "Besides, if you came here to fight why aren't you fighting? For someone who seems to pride himself on fighting you don't seem to be fighting." She said poking him lightly. "Is that all the muscle you have?" She said cocking her head. "Did I utterly defeat you when I fought you? Or did you withdraw because I was a girl?" She asked curiously. She never remembered the meaningless fights.

"I am ready to fight. Just because it doesn't look like it doesn't mean I'm not."

She chuckled, "I suppose you rely on your power still." She said vagely remembering something about him. "You know it's better to hide your power and save it for last when they think they got you figured out." She smirked lightly, "Don't get killed or left behind." With that she took off running in the general dirrection of the academy. She wasn't good with dirrections often. Her flaw surely was the unability to think of a place and go there unless she lived there. She had to wonder why he 'liked' fighting, but it wasn't her place to ask. She only liked to see someone fight with all their power. She wanted to have a contest on how many creatures they could cut down the fastest. But she decided not to because of the fact that he probably would pick the weaklings. She didn't know him well, but she knew he must have some competitive spirit in him. Though most of the time she wasn't taken seriously because of her being a girl.

"Let's have a competition, whoever cuts down the most creatures by noon without dying or cheating has to. Pays the other one for dinner as well as whomever they chose to bring with them." She didn't have anyone to bring but she knew men always complained about paying for dates. So she could just give him the amount of money for dinner, she wasn't a dinner type person anyway. Normally she'd have said something more dangerous but she guessed he wouldn't go for something more life threatening. "And the loser gets known as a whimp." she said with a cocky smirk. Knowing most guys had pride issues, so usually they wouldn't put down a competition even if it was lame.

"I don't know where the stronger monsters are."

"Well they're most likely somewhere deep in the forest or high up in the mountains, have you searched there?" Of course, Dean wasn't completely sure that the stronger creatures were in those areas, but he had a feeling they were.

"Besides, if you came here to fight why aren't you fighting? For someone who seems to pride himself on fighting you don't seem to be fighting."

The boy looked at Fia with a bit of curiosity. "I never said I pride myself on fighting. And like you said, why waste my time with these small fries, when there are bigger fish to fry?"

"Is that all the muscle you have?"

What? Dean stared down at his arms, never thinking that he looked weak. He'd always worked out and knew he had well defined muscles but Fia put it as though he was weak. He Dean knew for a fact that he wasn't.

"Did I utterly defeat you when I fought you? Or did you withdraw because I was a girl?"

"Actually, neither," Deans aid, not quite sure how the fight between them ended, but it just did. "We never finished the fight."

"I suppose you rely on your power still."

"I've never solely relied on my power. Yeah, it's helped me get out of some sticky situations, but I don't depend on it." Dean never believed that his power was his only strength. If he did, then he would have never spent so much time working out and practicing how to fight.

"You know it's better to hide your power and save it for last when they think they got you figured out."

Dean shrugged. Sure that was an okay strategy, okay, a good strategy, but he'd never thought like that before. And he didn't really care if his opponent knew his power or not. He could use one of the two, even if they were both very similar. He'd do that on occasion, but only during the very big fights. That's quite a good strategy," Dean said, complimenting Fia, something he'd never done before. The again, they didn't really know each other anyway. And he doubted that she even cared.

"Don't get killed or left behind."

"Never do," He said simply. He was never one to get left behind, if anything he was always at the front, right behind the leader or the leader. When Fia ran off into some direction, Dean ran after her, slightly curious as to where she was going.

"Let's have a competition, whoever cuts down the most creatures by noon without dying or cheating has to. Pays the other one for dinner as well as whomever they chose to bring with them."

He thought for a moment, always loving a challenge, especially one as easy as killing creatures. "You're on. But how do we know if the other is cheating or not?" Dean doubted that he'd bring anyone to dinner, who'd want o be a third wheel? But he didn't know if Fia would bring someone so he might bring someone along just in case.

"And the loser gets known as a whimp."

"Deal." There was no way Dean was going to loose this competition. he'd never lost any challenge in his life. Well, one but that was a long time ago, and ancient history. Since then he'd never lost a single battle or challenge.

"Well they're most likely somewhere deep in the forest or high up in the mountains, have you searched there?"

"Nope, I just got here remember? Anyhow twill be fun to fight with tons of opponents." She said with a twinkle in her eye, she loved fighting. It reminded her of those days on high seas where there was a fight everyday and everyone had a blast. She loved the excitement of a fight the thrill of possibly losing or the challenge of winning.

"I never said I pride myself on fighting. And like you said, why waste my time with these small fries, when there are bigger fish to fry?"

She smirked, "It doesn't matter if you never said it, you do because you enjoy fighting or you wouldn't fight. Not to mention if you want to become stronger you have to have pride in fighting or at least sure that you can defeat them. People without pride or self confidence can't win a fight because they are fighting against themselves as well." She said with a smirk.

"Is that all the muscle you have?"

She chuckled as he looked down at his arm, she was tempted to make a comment like "made you look" or something stupid like that. But she really had seen people with more muscle, he wasn't a twirp on muscle size though. And too much muscle gets in the way too. She just wanted to see his reaction. She should've been nice and let him know she was joking but she wasn't someone who would change her comment to make someone feel better. She wanted to see it's effect on him.

"Actually, neither, We never finished the fight."

"Shame, might've been fun to see who lost." She looked at her swords, she wondered if she'd find an opponent she could try her full blown skill on. She knew it'd be a waste to use on an easy mutant, she wanted to see if she could one shot a stronger opponent or if it'd be too hard to get them with it. Since she never tried out a duel sword burst with her new swords she didn't want to risk hurting someone beyond help or doing something dumb. She knew it would probably drain most of her power too, she didn't want to be drained when he was around. She kinda wished they didn't meet in a way. But she didn't mind his company that much.

"I've never solely relied on my power. Yeah, it's helped me get out of some sticky situations, but I don't depend on it."

"Still, most opponents will force you in those situations to see your full power. It's best to not use it unless it's completely impossible to dodge. It's best to make your opponent think they have a upper hand and then when they think your about to die you nail them. They tend to leave more openings when they think your dumb or weak. And if they don't know you have a trumph card they'll probably remain cocky and try to gloat as they slowly embarass themselves for being idiots." She said with a chuckle, "Usually muscle filled men have the best reactions to losing, it makes you want to laugh your head off. But for the sake of being a honorable match you can't sadly." She said thinking about some stupid people she fought in her past.

"That's quite a good strategy,"

"My sensei, taught me a lot of those things. He was the best pirate who outwited pirates. Sadly he was also very kind and loved his crew, and in the end his enemies used it against him. Stupid law and pirates both. He never broke a law against the innocent, he was a great captain who always won his battles saved his crew no matter the risk. His last will was for the crew to escape and to do that he made the ultimate sacrifice." Fia said with a sigh, thinking of her captain. He was the ultimate rolemodel for a young pirate, or a fighter. She loved him as a father, she couldn't stand people who didn't fight for their beliefs because he fought so hard for his beliefs.

"Never do,"

"Heh, that's what everyone says. But that's not what always happens." She said with a smirk, "Don't worry, if you fall behind I won't leave you." She said challenging him, she liked friendly rival ship. She didn't care for things without a challenge or without something to drive them to do their best. Afterall challenges were fun.

"You're on. But how do we know if the other is cheating or not?"

She smirked, "So that we know the other didn't cheat, we'll throw in a competition on top of that. Whoever killed the most creatures and brings back the biggest creature at the end of the day wins. And if it's a tie both ways, then we do it again unless you can't handle it. Also we each get different sides of the way that way if one side has creatures coming from it at night and the other doesn't we know that the person didn't kill enough creatures as well." She said with a smirk.

"Deal."

She smirked, "Deal." She loved a challenging challenge. She knew he wasn't a weakling, that's probably why she kept smiling or smirking. She found the idea of a challenge that was actually a challenge would be fun. She ran faster she knew there had to be some stronger creatures around here somewhere.
