Dancing for joy, or dancing for sorrow?

The ballroom was big, the ballroom was empty of people, the ballroom was full of circling flying objects. They belonged to Lex. All of them. There were pens, pieces of paper, whole notebooks, her jewellry, things like glitter, followed by bottles that had probably been full of it once. Her hair whipped around her face, had her clothes been loose, they would have whipped about too. But they weren't. She was clad in a pair of tight black sweatpants, and a tight white tank-top. Her feet were held to the floor by a pair of black jazz shoes.

Why were things surrounding her? Because she'd come here for that exact reason. She'd filled her arms with her belongings, and searched for somewhere unpopulated. She was dancing, or rather, practicing her spins. Her eyes were closed as she spun, letting herself go. The emotions of fear, sadness, anger pulsing through her, fueling the careening objects. She was unstable, she knew it, but she let go still, her body working on automatic in the dance moves as her mind started cleaning, sweeping out the cobwebs. The graceful movements that said peace were betrayed by the unstable objects floating around her. She had brought objects, because her mind couldn't clean if it had nothing to grab.

In the past few days, she'd had so many emotions filing into her, she knew that if she didn't purposefully allow herself to let go of all the stored energy, she'd explode when she least expected it, and would wind up hurting those that she didn't want to.

So there she was, a small figure in the center of the ballroom, dancing to silent music, surrounded to objects that moved with no calculation, but somehow managed to avoid hitting her, and to avoid hitting the walls.

Footsteps were heard in the hall, though they were soft but swift. Trephas, was once more in deep thought, he had been for days on end, thinking about what is going to happen next? And how it's going to happen, but his cousin Eben tells him not to worry about such foolishness, and that all three of them would find a way to help their, but he wondered if they could, he also wondered if Jerith's family was taken also.

He stopped and turned to face two double doors. I was three when it happened, and I still remember going through doors just like theses with my mother... oh, how I miss that time, and now it's gone forever, and now I live here, he thought, still looking at the doors, then he ran a hand through his hair, and made his once nice and combed hair messy.

He reached up and took held of the handle and then pulled it open and slipped through, already memory's of where he lived flooded his head and he smiled, those where happy memory's, but they were sort of hard to remember, since he was three. He walked to the railing and leaned and his eyes widened, seeing a whole bunch of objects flying through the room, and there is all of it was Lex.

He liked Lex, she was different from any other girl, who were always bugging him at his older school, she wasn't mindless like the girls at the private school he went to, and she wasn't afraid of the simplest things like the girls at the private school. Lex was fun to be with. He stood there, watching her dance. He wondered if she'll notice him here, but he didn't care if she did.

Lex did notice him, but not because he was watching her, but instead, just because he was a thing of mass. Her mind had this impossible need to move anything that wasn't attatched. So when it found something that wasn't supposed to be there, she had to block it, which in it's turn made her slowly return to 'conciousness'. Though she kept on dancing, slowly, all of the rotating objects ceased moving, and congregated themselves in a neat pile. Anything she hadn't dealt with was pushed back into it's corners, but she felt far better than she had been.

She stopped dancing once she'd collected everything, and stood with her eyes closed for a bit longer. She took a deep breath, letting it out in a long, quiet sigh, before opening her eyes, turning to the presence that had pulled her out of her mind. She looked at him, and her lips curved into a smile. Not an overly excited smile, just a peaceful smile. A smile that said even though he'd been watching her dance, she wasn't embarrassed. The silence was peaceful, and she just smiled at him for a bit, before breaking the silence with a quiet, "Hi."

He continued to watch, as the things that were floating went back to where they belonged, and some other things in a pile, he was amazed. Lex was wonderful at her powers, and that made him think of his own telekinesis, it wasn't strong at all, and sometimes, he felt it fade for a moment, then return, and he was wondering if his powers were dying on him, if so, why?

When Lex looked up at him and smiled, he also found himself smiling, then he listened and heard her say a hello, and he bowed his head in a manner that meant to be a return hello. He started walking slowly to the stairs that led down, and he walked down the steps, also still slowly.

"What are you doing here?" He asked in a gentle voice, as he reached the bottom of the stairs and he stood there, looking at Lex.

She watched him come down the stairs, and by the time he got to the bottom, she'd moved so that she was closer to where he was. When he asked what she was doing, her first though had been to say 'Dealing with life.' but she'd nixed the thought. Trephas had just lost his family. He didn't need to hear her problems. And he especially didn't need to know how much was going on beneath the surface of Lex. So, she opted for the more obvious truth. She cocked her head slightly to the side as she looked at him, a calm smile still on her face. "I was dancing. But right now, I'm looking at you." she would have placed her hands in her pockets then, but her dance clothes didn't leave room for pockets, so she instead placed her hands on her hips in a relaxed way.

She was still breathing hard from the exertion of dancing, as well as using so much of her energy in telekinesis. She took another deep breath, letting it out in a slow sigh. "What are you doing here?" she asked, her voice still quiet, as though she didn't want to disturb the peace of the ballroom.

He smiled again, when she spoke. She had stated the obvious, and it made him smile, she always made him smile, and he was also fond of her, she was nice, and he loved it when she made him smile. He thought for a bit after she had asked the same thing and he looked around, then back at Lex, but he didn't say anything right now, he was thinking about how he will answer, then he smiled.

"I'm remembering...." He said, and sighed, he remembered home, his true home, not the one on the lake, one that was in a long time ago. He sighed again, he missed his home. "This room, reminds me of a room I have at home, it's my family's party room." He said smiling.

Lex's eyes changed to compassion as she moved close to him, putting a gentle hand on his shoulder. "How are you holding up?" her words were soft, full of sage understanding. She knew what it was like to lose somebody you loved unexpectedly. She'd never really had a family to love, but she'd lost her best friend. She let out a quiet sight of relief. One of the nice things about letting her powers reign uncontrolled was that it removed the shock feeling from her mind a bit. It was nice. Her eyes reflected all of her thoughs, because this time she didn't bother to block them. Her lips curved into a gentle smile as she waited for him to speak.

He calmed a bit, his thoughts easing when Lex put her hand on his shoulder, and he slightly smiled again, then it was gone when she asked the question, and he thought, and he just figured he should tell her how he felt, and how he was holding up. "I... guess I'm holding up fine, though.... I know it's gonna happen again... I still have family out there, and the people who got my parents aren't gonna stop till they have my whole family.... Me and my sister think it's the same people who took Eben's family from him...." He said quietly.

I know it's gonna happen again... i just know it is, but why? he thought to himself sadly.

Lex's eyes flashed a moment of anger at the people causing problems for Trephas's family. So far as she could see, his family was wonderful, and kind. "Let me know if I can do anything to help. I won't stand by and just let it happen." she said quietly as well, her eyes returning to their regular state. She wanted to give him a hug, but instead, she'd give him a page out of her book. She lifted her hand off of his shoulder, and took a step back.

She held out her hands to him. "Dance with me." she made it as a statement, but with enough room for him to decline. If he accepted, she'd tell him to let go of his mind. No matter how weak his powers were, his emotions would be able to find a way out, and fuel him far beyone what he would think possible

He smiled. He felt happy that she'll help out, but he didn't know really what she could really do, but he knew she could do something, but she would have to know his greatest secret, that he was not supposed to tell anyone or even speak of it, his parents told him not too. "Then... I will let you know." He said gently. Then he watched as she stepped back.

He thought for a moment, then he also held out his hands and took Lex's and took a step forward. "Where I come from, the men are supposed to ask the lady's if they wish to dance, but... I guess it's different here." He said, shrugging.
