Ace entered the over sized ballroom, his yellow eyes scanning the crowds through the mask he had chosen for the event. It was black, covered the upper half of his face, leaving his mouth and the tip of his nose exposed. A simple domino mask that covered his upper cheek bones and most of his forehead, extending out near the tied edges on bat wings that pushed back to cover the tips of his ears. He liked the mask and felt that it really conveyed his inner Batman when he dug it out of the bin at the shop he purchased it from. It was plastic and spray painted with some kind of shiny black metallic spray that Ace thought was extremely cheap looking, but for a dollar he really couldn't complain.

'Now this party I can complain about,' he thought as he leaned against a nearby wall, staying out of the way of the other entering guests as he observed them, watching all the students arrive in pairs and singles and smirking at those who happened to glance his way, 'Pitiful, all of you...flocking like moths to a flame just to live out short lived fantasies and pretend you're something you're not. Mortals, tch. Humans, TCH. It's disgusting really...'

He shook his head slightly and continued to watch, his eyes trained for any loners that he could descend upon and talk up. No one knew regret like a lone wolf at a party and he wasn't going to pass up that opportunity; just being around people like that made his mouth water and his appetite wet. So it was always a good idea to play the room and find the loneliest member to corner, the weakest antelope in the herd was always the easiest to take down after all. But who would it be this time and would he be able to talk them into a private session like he had been doing since he had arrived there at that school. How long had it been? A month? A couple weeks, he had lost count, but he hadn't forgotten how many people he'd been able to talk to and weasel their darkest secrets out of.

'Mmmm, delicious,' he mused and couldn't resist a quick swipe of his tongue over his lips as if he could still taste the damp energy passing through them. His stomach growled in response and he placed a hand over it, wondering if anyone had heard that over the steady thrum of the music in the room.

"I'm starving..." he grumbled in a hushed voice to himself, placing one hand in his pocket as he fished for a scrap that he had saved from before. When he came up with nothing, he groaned audibly and quite loudly before looking around the room again. After a moment, his eyes rested on a table on the opposite side of the room and he decided to satiate the rumbling in his stomach with some kind of sustenance from the beverages and snack trays that were at that table, even if it wasn't what he was craving at the moment he knew he needed something.

He was new here; most would be unnerved, but not all. It was a masquerade themed event, for which the boy had decided to pick up a cute mask. It was white with pink sequins along the edges along with feathers that fluffed up along the top. A short styled one that only covered the upper half of his face. Looking through the eyes of the mask, he lingered for a moment at the door-way, hesitant to cross the threshold and into the eventful atmosphere. Tilting his head slightly; the white bunny ears attached to his headband flopped with his movement. Someone pushed past him trying to get into the room, bumping him across the line and into the very space he had been contemplating about. One would guess that was one less decision to make now.

His hair was up in a pink scrunchie ponytail, and for his outfit was a black halter-neck corset top that had pink sides and lining details. For the bottom was a ruffled, six layered pink tutu that reached mid-thigh, coupled with pale pink leggings and white heels. It was a bit cold, so he had brought along a matching long sleeved bolero with fake fluff at the sleeve cuffs. He had nightmares over just how much this outfit cost, and figured he would barely be able to scrape by on rent and food until his next pay day. This was a masquerade ball, after all; one was supposed to disguise them-self. Although after a while of being at the school, people would get to be able to recognize him just from his hair alone.

There was no one with him, as he had not yet the chance to really get to know anyone here. In fact, Tristin had only just finished exploring the school building and memorizing his routes for classes. There were students congregating everywhere; all wearing masks and costumes. One or two dressed up ridiculously (a hot-dog,) many angels, many fairies and vampires as well. He doubted, sadly, that he would be the only bunny here.

Among the dancing youths, and the vibrating music of which the choices could have been made with better taste, the confectioneries table seemed to very well be the first thing that his true attention was caught onto. A small grin crawled over his lips as he wondered what delectable little snacks would be there. Sugar rich and calorie abundant, he would burn it off sometime later, as he had many activities which would easily do so. With his goal in mind, he readily weaved through the bustling crowds and the fake wings and tails towards the table almost at the far end of the large, spacious ballroom.

Now, he was not much of a knowledgeable person when it came to entertainment culture; but he did know that the person he had passed by just now on his way to the mini sandwiches and chocolate truffles was in some kind of a superhero costume. Bat-man, wasn't it? He found it a bit cheesy and observed people who took actual effort into prepping up costumes to be much more respectable. Nonetheless, he directed a smile at this other; whom was merely an inch taller than him; and stopped to stand at the edge of the table; surveying quickly before plucking two little tuna paste and lettuce sandwich bits from a white oval tray with hardly suppressed glee.

Ace stopped short of the table and stared blankly at the lop-eared individual who pointed a smile in his direction before turning away from him and focusing their attention on all the finger sandwiches they could finger on the trays before them. He didn't smile back at first, but instead continued to stand a few steps short of the table as he observed the smiling simpleton's costume. His hand rising to his chin as he leaned back and gave the stranger a good once over with his yellow eyes. He took note of the individual's coat and halter top, his eyes lingering on the fluffed pink tutu and pale leggings before they followed the trail of their coat back up to their face and the mask that they wore.

"A rabbit, huh, classic," he breathed on a bored sigh and dropped his hand, stuffing it into his empty pocket as he glanced around the room, "I considered it, but they were out so I went with the next best thing-"

After a short pause in his sentence, he finally stepped up to the table and pressed his hand onto its surface, leaning forward and smiling toothily as he tried to get back into rabbit ear's line of sight. He thought he'd throw on the charm while speaking with them, it wasn't everyday that he'd be able to chat up a fluffy masked rabbit, now was it.

"Now that I see it on you, I'm glad I went with my second choice. Pink's not exactly my color- but it looks good on you- Hi, I'm Ace," he felt his brow arch beneath the mask as he sped through to his introduction, but knew his conversation partner wouldn't be able to see it, "Come here often?"

Sabrina's stiletto heels clicked throughout the hallway. Although many would find the pain of walking in heels unbearable, it was part of her routine. A lady must always look her best, she thought silently. Although the heels were hindering her ability to move quickly, she felt obligated to keep her appearances up. Slowly, she pushed forward around the corner.

The sound of music was echoing through the hall more clearly. She had finally reached her destination. The sound was no longer distant. Instead it was distinctive, and the source was only a few doors down. She had only recently transferred to the school, so the event was still a mystery.

A couple walked through the doors, revealing their masks. A masquerade? Sabrina thought, What a surprise that the school would hold something as classy as this. As she formulated her thoughts the couple propped themselves against the wall to engage in what couple only be described as unsightly behavior.

"Leave it to the lower class to make a mockery of a masquerade", she criticized under her breath. Taking a deep breath to regain her dignity she proceeded towards the opening. Outside the doors there were a few masks left. Although Sabrina wouldn't usually take from the left over pile, she found it more acceptable to stoop down and acknowledge the tradition, rather than arrive half dressed. It wasn't her fault that she was unaware of the event. If the administration had done a better job of announcing social engagements, she wouldn't be in her current situation.

She reached down to grab the black cat mask. It framed her eyes well, and more importantly matched what she was wearing. Her outfit consisted of a black lolita styled dress with white frills. To ensure that she was presented in dignified manner, rather than to keep the chill off her body, she had a shoulder cover attached. The corset of the dress helped frame her petite build, and the skirt fell just below her knees. The white frill and black lace finished off the skirt giving Sabrina a very feminine figure.

After ensuring that her hair sat perfectly over the mask, she pushed her way into the ballroom. There were many people, but none were recognizable. Careful not to bump into the filth of the her peers she picked her way to the area which seemed to be relatively empty. The buffet table appeared to only have 2 or 3 people around it.

One of them seemed to have a sense of fashion, while the other was clearly a thift store shopper. Although many items could be bought at a decent price in a thift store, he appeared to be the type to assume that there was only shade of black. Sabrina scoffed at his mask, but cut herself short remembering that she too was wearing a mask that was potentially from a thift store. She shuddered at the thought before steadying herself with a deep breath as she reassessed her beauty in her mirror.

Hoping no one would notice, she pushed herself towards the table and grabbed the white frosted cupcake.

It was his smile which expressed his openness to conversation, as Tristin did not like to be the lonesome one at a party of any sort. And this smile had been directed at the bat masked individual with the rather plain outfit. This open invitation had been ignored for a few moments, but soon amongst the rumbling music, the thrumming chatter and the jostling people, a hand placed itself on the table nearby, forcing the boy to glance up from nibbling on a sandwich to look at this seemingly cheap bat mask again. The thing that he really disliked about these masquerades was the point of them altogether; he could not see what they looked like behind those masks. Handsome or downright ugly?

It was, however, with full attention that he lent an ear to the others' introduction, pausing in his eating. Contrary to what the other said, he did not think pink would look bad on him from what he deduced about his hair colour; but kept silent on that matter as he knew that your average Joe probably did not like pink very much on themselves. He could not tell what expressions were being made under that mask; he could be mocking him for all one knew " Why, thanks for the compliment" He said. His own voice was in itself girlish; not in a stereotypical way either. It was middle tone and reminded one of autumn leaves in a way. " Nice to meet you, Ace. My name is Tristin. I just transferred to this school several months ago"

It was then in the middle of introductions when a younger girl came into view. Her hair was white, almost like his and she was wearing tall heels. He held a gaze of silent approval at her lovely bell shaped dress. The black of her outfit went way better than with what the bat male was doing with his own. He shouldn't compare though; they were in two different costumes after all. As the young lady went for a cupcake that sat on one of the plates, the boy uttered a small "Hello" in her direction.

She felt the gaze of a stranger on her skin. She prickled slightly. Although she was certain her appearance was above the standards of her peers, the sense of judgement was always an uneasy one. As she waited for her gaze to break she head a voice.

It was small but distinctive. The stranger with apparent style had uttered a greeting. As she gave the stranger a second glance she realized the scent was different. Something didn't quite match. Although there was a feminine figure, the scent was different. She gave the air a quick whiff again to be sure she had not crossed the target's scent with someone else. No, she thought to herself, It is definitely the one in front of me but she smells different. He thoughts seemed to trail off. Despite her concentration, she was unable to place the reason for the unknown scent difference.

Realizing that she had left the conversation at a stand still she quickly recovered. "Hello. I am Sabrina Sezrech." she stated with an outstretched hand. "And who do I have the pleasure of meeting?" She asked sweetly. She smelled clean and dressed like a person of higher wealth. The stranger had no reason to evoke any disrespect. As long as things stayed in a similar situation, perhaps they could be friends.

Now that she was looking at the target, she was better able to study the dress. Although Sabrina would be unlikely to wear tutu, never mind a six layer one, she was unable to deny how adorable the outfit was. Having that mask and the cuffs of the bolero was also a cute tie in. Overall, based on first impressions, this stranger was up to par.

Ace felt his smile vanish as the third person joined their 'private' party. She was shorter, wore heels that could probably kill a man if she stepped on him at the right angle and gave off an air of something that he could only describe as feline grace. 'Oh great...' he thought in irritation as he turned to examine the girl who had approached them and stolen the attention of his lonely lop-eared stranger. With a quick once over and an intent stare of his own, he picked up on a difference with the girl that he hadn't thought to recognize from that of the other. She wasn't human. Looking back to rabbit ears, he came to the same conclusion.

He shouldn't have been surprised because honestly he was attending a school specifically for beings like them, and he wasn't very human himself so, there was really no need for him to be so pleased by his discovery. He wondered if either of them would be able to pick up on his own aura and smiled to himself over the excitement of it. He remained silent during their exchange of pleasantries, taking note of their names and matching each to the correct mask before he stepped in and interrupted. Motioning to each of them in turn, he introduced them to each other, before motioning to all of him with an exaggerated presentation of his hands.

"Sabrina- Tristin, Tristin- Sabrina, Sabrina- Ace, nice to meet everyone, good- now-" he turned back to Tristin formerly known as Thumper and clapped his hands in front of him, "Where were we? Recent Transfer, huh? Nice...I'm the same although a bit new-er, if that's a word, than you- you see, I've only just come to this school at the beginning of this month. Wonderful place really, big, very big. Lot's of students too, but, by all means, don't let that intimidate you."

He chuckled at his own attempt at conversation before pausing and turning around slowly to face the cat-masked Sabrina, the smile replaced by a false look of apology, "Oh, I'm sorry...did I interrupt?"

((Mind doing some sort of posting order? Sabrina, Tristin, Ace? Anyone?))

Sabrina suppressed a hiss as the second stranger forced a quick introduction. To make matters worse he attempted to mock her with his false apology. Looking down she let our an apathetic sigh. "A pity, your parents didn't teach you any manners." Looking up, her yellow eyes were fixated on Ace's eyes.

Perhaps I can get him to simply back down, she thought to herself. Such a simpleton should be easy to manipulate. I mean what moron doesn't realize that the word 'newer' is in fact correct term. Also attempting to brush someone off so abrubtly? Does he not realize how obvious he is? Pathetic. Not even on my level.

Since Ace had obviously removed any chance of exchanging a civilized handshake, she ran her now free hand through her hair. Keeping her gaze on Ace she concentrated on his mind. As she did she felt the waves of resistance between the body and mind. This was clearly a form of sorts but Sabrina was unfamiliar with the control of other non human folk.

She blinked back her shock. Although she could rely on the mask, it was in her nature to hide her emotions naturally and continued to do so. She didn't want to allow his smug attitude to portray any effect on her.

With another break in conversation, Sez turned to face Tristan. "I must thank your... friend?" The term 'friend' seemed to have a cold underlying tone which suggested the idea of friendship with the man was almost grotesque. "Although I would have preferred to hear a little about you from yourself, I suppose we can't blame his upbringing. No matter the manner, it's a pleasure to meet someone who understands the importance of appearance in a social setting."

(OOC: sorry it's kind of a haphazard post. feeling pretty tired but I promised to post. plus I'm sure Tristan is feeling fairly left out. He's pretty much being talked at.)

Tristin could feel unease prickling along his skin because of the two. Both of them were aggressive in the way that they held themselves and he was not sure what he was supposed to do. He would have introduced himself properly to the girl, but Ace interrupted and did it for all of them, earning a displeased look from himself. He felt himself rather quiet, nodding to Ace's words while also paying attention to Sabrina as well; perhaps more cautiously.

He could tell that Sabrina thought herself better than most of the people here; perhaps if she were knocked down a peg or too she would be less mouthy. Tristin had just wanted to enjoy today, not engage in a threesome fight that was somehow bound to happen at one point or another. there was tension between all three, and for the moment he actually took Ace's side with a curved smile

" As much as I do respect a lady who knows how to dress, schools are generally a more casual affair; all of this is just festive fun, really. I think it's best to just enjoy the atmosphere" With that he did step back to stand beside Ace, behind his mask was an expression of unease as if he were expecting to be hit or something.

Ace felt his eyes harden behind the mask and he wanted to rip the thing off and show the pretentious little trollop just how annoyed her tone and choice of words had made him. Instead he exchanged the aggravated sneer with a gentle smile and stepped away from the two of them and stood off to the side. His arm gesturing to Sabrina in a sort of 'go ahead' sort of motion.

"Pardon me...princess," he muttered this under his breath before going silent, not enjoying the predicament he had gotten himself into in the slightest.

'Well...isn't this just a fine mess I've found myself in. Little Miss Thorn-in-my-side won't even let me properly communicate with my new acquaintance. What ever will I do now.' He had all but excused himself mentally from the conversation and was thinking about whether or not attempting to pursue further action with Tristin was worth it when he felt the youth step up beside him. Without changing direction or moving in anyway, he half glanced down through the eye holes in his mask and watched the way Tristin moved, wondering exactly why the rabbit had chosen to stand so close to him. His yellow eyes swiveled back to look at Sabrina's expression and he realized he had tuned out their entire conversation with his own thoughts. A slow smile crept over his face as he locked eyes with Sabrina. He didn't know exactly what had happened or what had been said, but it looked to him like Tristin had just sided with him over something and winning always felt oh, so good.
