He found it was a common flaw in so many shapeshifters, not just those within his own family. They too often tried to act as if they were fully human, as if they had no other instincts. Shapeshifters like him weren't human, not really, and the more they denied things, the worse it got.

"Learning to confront things - both yourself and others - is an important life skill. It's something that schools should teach, and yet they don't." Probably because it was awfully hard to teach. Important, yes, but easy? Not at all.

He was so polite and well mannered that Ignatius couldn't help but smile, a downright terrifying expression at the best of times, considering it showed off his rather sharp teeth. Normally he made a point of not fully smiling in order to avoid anyone becoming alarmed, but faced with someone who might very well understand, he didn't feel the need to hide it.

"No, I don't need anything. I'm quite happy to see someone else with similar powers doing so well in the world." Even if he had no idea how Oliver was actually doing, the fact that he was so polite put him firmly in the 'doing well' column in Ignatius's head. For that matter, the fact that he had anything at all to do with dinosaurs meant that Ignatius had slid him into the 'family' category whether Oliver knew it or not.

"My door is always open, if you need assistance or advice. There are few people who can truly relate on the subject."

Even though Oliver had just met this man, he had felt at peace for the first time in awhile. It seems that the mistakes and accidents of the past were melting away, slowly but surely. He was too young to be caught on things he couldn’t control. And rather than dwell on the past, he would look upon the future.

”Yea. I’ve been more or less on my own since I’ve come here. I’ve also been so caught up on my studies I haven’t really paid attention to my wellbeing I guess.” He muttered, almost embarrassed to admit the realization. Working hard was important to him, but perhaps not as important as looking out for his- and his more primal half’s- health. He smiled back the moment the older had. It was a unique smile he hadn’t seen before, far more feral than his own. But he could appreciate it. He had a feeling people who didn’t understand him wouldn’t quite as much.

Glad to hear Ignatius was content, Oliver nodded. ”The feeling is mutual, sir.” He confirmed lightly, his mood significantly cheerier. He stood, holding his hands before him in a small clasp before bowing his head slightly. He had his business card, so at least it would be easy to contact him. Hopefully not to bother him, at least. ”Thank you again. I really hope I haven’t taken up too much of your time.” Oliver hadn’t ever talked to someone of his caliber in terms of occupation. Today had truly been an experience, to say the least. He outstretched his hand once more to give him a small, yet firm shake. Thier new acquaintanceship leaving a lasting impression on his mind. Just then, the sound of an intercom buzzer rang in the other room. Ignatius probably had more business to take care of soon, so he didn’t want to bother him further. ”Well, I better get going.” He said softly, and neared the door to open it. Turning around the last moment, he waved goodbye. ”It was a pleasure to meet you Mister Ignatius. I hope to see you again, sometime.” With a final smile, he left the opening, and closed the door behind him.
