In feline form, Kat stalked silently through the trees. She came out to the forest often, it appealed to her wilder side to twist through trees and bushes, moving as quietly as possible to avoid detection while she stalked smaller animals, sometimes taking down a squirrel or rabbit or wild mouse. The hunt was something that her feline side understood well and practiced rather often.

The black cat wandered until she reached a clearing: the cemetery. A nice, quiet place. Her paws padded silently on the stones laid in the ground as she went up the walkway and hopped up onto a small monument, sitting down to clean her fur. Her sandpaper tongue ruffed and smoothed the white fur on her front-left paw. Beside her, her tail twitched contentedly on the marble stone. She enjoyed her life now. Before, it had been so...she shook the thoughts from her head. Her life was good now. She had loving parents, a home, an education...it was all there for her. There was no need to trouble herself with thoughts of the past. It didn't matter anymore.

Since being kidnapped by that strange creature in the park, Minx had been a bit more wary about wandering around alone. But she still liked to hunt for her food. Mostly because she didn't have a job and stealing from restaurants was a lot harder than stealing chickens from farms, and there didn't seem to be as many of those on Manta Carlos. Plus the citizens here were a bit more difficult than normal humans. Of course, she could count on her boyfriend to feed her and that could lead to other entertainment, but he did have a job and school to go to.

So here she was chasing squirrels through the woods, alone. She actually felt safer here than in the park anyways. Most people didn't really go into the forest because of the animals. There was a lot more cover here too. The fae was a little confused when she chased a squirrel into the cemetery. Her hesitation gave it time to slip away. She squeaked her annoyance and then decided to explore. The fae of her homeland didn't really have graveyards, and she had never really had a reason to explore one on her forays into the human world.

She saw the cat sunning itself and scampered over to sniff it curiously. She didn't like dogs, but cats were generally okay. She wondered if it was a normal cat or another fae. It would be nice to have another playmate, so to speak. She didn't shift right away, but she did sit down next to the cat and watch it curiously.

Kat yawned and stretched herself out on the marble, letting her tail hang over the side. The tip of it twitched slowly back and forth in contentment as she closed her eyes and let her black fur soak up the sunshine. Like most cats, Kat dozed for a good majority of her day. When there wasn't any trouble to get into, or she couldn't be bothered to go looking for it, Kat would just find a nice, sunny, quiet place and let herself drift in and out of sleep. Just laying here was good, too. She let her mind go blank for a while and just...was.

A noise of something approaching caused Kat to open her eyes and raise her head, her ears swiveling to track the sound to its source. A creature that looked like a large ferret came bounding towards her. Kat stared down at the other animal lazily from her perch on the low monument. After deciding that it wasn't a threat, she reached a paw out to tap the other creature lightly on the muzzle. The tip of her tail continued to twitch slowly back and forth as she watched the minx with a silent, steady gaze.

The cat did smell like a normal cat, or at least it didn't smell like another fae. Minx could smell some human on it, but she guessed that it was probably one of those cats that humans kept as pets. The fae squeaked, disappointed at that fact. Normal cats were boring, and the ones that lived with humans tended to be the worst. At least it wasn't trying to chase after her like she was some kind of rodent. Technically the fae was a rodent while in mink-form, but she never thought of herself that way.

Minx made a little sigh, wishing that she hadn't let the squirrel get away. She was going to just hop off the gravestone and explore some more when the cat suddenly reached out and booped her nose. The fae became slightly worried that the animal was sizing her up as a tasty treat. So since the squirrels seemed to not be around this part of the forest, and she wasn't about to get eaten herself, Minx shifted back into her regular form.

The now-woman looked at the cat, wondering if it was actually hungry or had just been taking advantage of her closeness. The sun did feel nice, and she could see why it wasn't inclined to be out hunting. "Are you hungry kitty cat?" She asked, not expecting an answer. "Do your people not feed you? Or are you just too cozy here to move from your spot?"

Kat watched as the minx transformed. So that was what that smell was. Kat had not encountered many Fae while she'd been here on the island, so she still wasn't able to scent them very well. She'd picked up something strange and earthy, though, and now she knew what it was. This woman was a Fae. The interactions she'd had with the few Fae she'd met had not been long ones, certainly not long enough to leave any kind of impression on her other than neutrality. Kat blinked at the woman as she cooed at her. She was used to being treated like a typical house cat - she certainly smelled like one. Sneezing once, Kat sat up on the marble and took her human form, as well.

"I suppose you were lucky that I've eaten recently," she replied, her ears and tail twitching a little to shake out the last warm tingles of the change. She crossed one leg over the other and leaned back against the gravestone that jutted up several feet into the sky, "Though I thought you smelled a little different from the other things that wander around out here. Katarina," she introduced herself. There wasn't any reason for her to not be at least somewhat pleasant. "I go by Kat. I know," she held up her hands in a shrug, "it's ironic. I didn't choose the name." It was the only thing she allowed herself to keep from the mother who'd abandoned her, if only because it would have been a pain to change it.

The younger but taller fae gazed down at the other woman when she transformed, quite obviously undressing her with her eyes and making no attempt to hide it. The blonde was quite lovely, though she did still smell faintly of cat even as a human. She was also not a fae, which puzzled Minx. She didn't believe she had ever met a similar type of shifter before.

Simply watching for the moment, she quietly listened as this Kat introduced herself. She gave a wide grin, which showed off her sharp teeth, when the woman said the fae was lucky she'd already eaten. And she gave a pleasant laugh about Kat's name, though it was very similar to what her name might've been if she had been a fae. The fae wasn't speaking both because she enjoyed being coy, but also because she was considering her words carefully. It took some practice to be constantly lying in conversation with someone without simply saying the opposite of what you meant. Speaking almost entirely in questions to get around her limitations was something of an artform for her.

"Aren't most names given by another? And if you truly found it ironic, would you not simply go by Katarina?" It may not have been obvious, but Minx was not lending out her own name so freely. Very few people knew it and she intended to keep it that way, mostly because she found it fun to do so.

The woman's reaction was something that Kat was rather used to, and she returned the favor by giving her a slow once-over, appreciating her smooth, dark skin, with that unique light patch around her mouth and chin. It was unusual, but not unattractive. She couldn't help but find the fae rather pretty, with her long and elegant limbs. Kat tended to bat for both sides. She smiled a little with satisfaction as she finished looking the woman over.

She considered the other female's words before offering her response: "I suppose you have a point. I also suppose I'm also just used to the shortened version of my name by now, despite the irony." Kat shrugged and shifted herself a little to get more comfortable - as comfortable as one could get while sitting on a pile of marble, anyways.

Kat raised an eyebrow. "From the way you smell, I assume you're Fae," she said it rather as an observation than a question. There was no denying it now, that scent she was picking up was definitely not just animal. "What are you doing all the way out here, anyways? I don't suppose you were looking for a place to nap," she added, her fingernails tapping against the stone beneath her.
