Counting the stars

Solace clambored up the stairs, her voice echoing through the stair well. She had climbed up what felt like ten sets of stairs and was growing breathless. She definitely need to start exercising or else she'd become a blob. The thought made her cringe and she pressed on. Hurry up "Shut up, Argentum. I don't see you trying to slither up these stairs. And your weight is getting annoying. I might just throw you over the railing." Fine fine. I'll shut up Rolling her eyes heavenward she mouthed, "Thank you."

Finally making it at the top she opened the door and peered out of the tower. It was night time and the black carpeted sky was bespeckled with stars that twinkled and glittered. But none could compare to the round and bright moon. Smiling inward, she set Argentum down, against his hissing, and stepped over to the edge. Sitting down, she let her legs dangle over the sides and lay down on her back. With her arms folded behind her head she started counting the stars.

"One, two, three...eleven, twelve...thirty-six, thirty-seven..."

Jason walked up the tower steps. It should be quiet up here. He thought to himself. As he reached the top and looked around he saw a girl. He sighed. h well, it's just one person. He walked over to where he was and said. 'Hey there.' He sat down next to her and looked up at the sky.

She stopped in mid count and turned to watch the nearing figure. She hadn't met him before, but his soft-spoken words let her sigh in relief. She hadn't gone searching to chat with someone. In fact, she hated conversing. "Hi."

Her attention went back to the stars, but the interruption caused her to forget what number she was on. Mumbling to herself she decided it would be useless if they just sat there in quiet. "Name's Solace."

Jason could see that he'd interupted her. My bad.
'I'm Jason.' He sighed and ooked around. 'I'll have to remember this place, not a lot of people here.' He looked back t her. 'Except you of course. But one person is ok.'

She chuckled and shrugged her shoulders. "It's quiet. And the scenery is beautiful." A little knowing smile chanced her face but it soon disappeared. Argentum slithered by Solace and spoke in his low voice. Aren't you going to introduce me? Solace rolled her eyes and sighed. Getting up into a sitting position, she wrapped Argentum around her arm. "This is Argentum. He is..." elated to make your acquaintance.

Jason looked at the snake with a raised eyebrow. 'Wow. A pet snake? I guess that's cool.' He laughed and asked. 'Where did you get him? Find him somewhere?'

"I..." She looked down to Argentum, the palms of her hands, and then back up. "I made him." It had been several years back when she had still been living with her mentor. She had been trying to create a sphere but there was a mishap and Argentum was made. He says it was fate. Solace says it was a mistake. "If you touch him, you can feel the metal."

Jason looked at her suspiciously, ut reached out his hand. He felt the snake, and held back a shiver.
Drawing his hand away, he put it in his pocket.
'Well, that's...weird.'

She chuckled and let Argentum rest his long body in her lap. Shrugging her shoulders she turned her attention back up to the night sky. "How many stars do you think are up there?"

He shrugged. 'I dunno. Never realy thought about it. It doesn't effect us at all.' He scanned the skies.
'Though it might. I wouldn't know.'
