Nia shook her head quickly, "Don't ever apologize for how you feel."

Alvis smiled and nodded in agreement, "Just because someone has lost more than you doesn't mean you can't be upset about what you have lost. In Nia's case, she doesn't have any memories until just over a year ago, only a few weeks before she was brought to SA. Her struggles are going to be different than yours. Not worse, just different."

He turned his attention to Nia for a moment, "Nia would you like to share how you have been doing with coping with your memory loss? It might be helpful to Aedan."

She nodded, her eyes glued to their hands, still lightly holding each other. "I've been trying to see it like a blank slate or a fresh start. Instead of worrying about trying to figure out who I was, I've been trying to focus on who I am." She let out a heavy sigh, her hands pulling away and into her lap where she began to crack her knuckles one at a time. "It must be nice to know how to do things like make statues and play the violin." All Nia seemed to know about herself was that she was terrified of everything.

Aedan looked to her, "my dad once told me something, remember the lessons of the past but don't let it's chains hold you down grab onto the latter of the future and climb into the stars."

"You may not remember but you can still have a future. As for music and hobbies, you'll pick those up, if you want I'll help you." He smiled, "I usually go into the city a few times a week, you can come with me, there's a music and hobby shop."

He cleared his throat, "I know it's not easy being around people, maybe that's something we can help each other with."

Nia liked that advice. She very much felt like her past was a chain holding her down, even though she couldn't remember it at all. Maybe that's what made it so heavy sometimes. It almost felt like her chains were invisible, holding her down in way's she couldn't understand or really deal with.

She smiled meekly and nodded, "I'd love to go with you! I haven't left school grounds yet." She had spent most of her time just going to class and then going to the library.

"Okay. Yeah...I like that. Helping each other." She

A thought suddenly popped into her head as she imaged herself walking around the city and her brow furrowed in concern. Her gaze shifted Alvis, "I suppose I should tell him about...um, about my visions first though..right?" Her hands started trembling a bit in her lap.

The old man nodded, "If you are going to head into the city with him, it might be best if he knows so he can be prepared."

"Visions?" He looked from Alvis to Nia. "Oh your powers."

He smiled, "don't worry, I wont be afraid." He looked in her eyes again, "we're friends and friends don't judge each other."

"And maybe I can help you." He nodded, "I'm...I'm not going to run away...ever." He wasnt sure where this came from, but he meant every word of it.

"Yeah visions...I uh...I'm psychic but I can't control it. It only happens a couple time a month so we can plan to go on a day when I'm pretty sure I won't get one." She sighed, her trembling hand, finding it's way to her hair twirling it around her finger. "I don't like having to deal with them in public."

Aedan's words made her feel so much better though. It made her feel not just excited about going into the city but comfortable. Like she would be safe.

Alvis couldn't have hoped for a better session. Aedan was opening up and both of them were becoming fast friends. He would let them go soon. He just wanted to go over a couple more things.

"Well, I am very happy with the discussion you to two have been having. It seems there are a lot of way's you can support each other." He nodded slightly, "Yes, I think it was a good decision to try the joint counseling. I do have a couple of questions left for both of you however, they are a bit more personal and I don't want to push either of you into talking about things you'd rather keep confidential." His gaze moved between the two until it stopped at Nia.

"Would you mind stepping out of the room for a minute so I can talk with Aedan? I will invite you back in just a couple minutes."

Nia nodded understanding. She stood, giving a small smile to Aedan before exiting the room.

Aedan scratched the back of his head, this was going to be awkward, he gave Nia a smile as she left.

Alvis smiled and nodded to Aedan, "I know some of this may seem unpleasant, and I won't preasure you to answer, but what exactly caused you to develop a stigma about your eyes."

Aedan sighed, he didn't want to talk about this, he really didnt. But..he looked to the door, "I stayed at a military base for a while before I came here.....some of the soldiers nearly.....shot me when they saw them."

Alvis stayed silent for a moment, "I see, that explains your fear of showing them, but as Nia showed, you have nothing to fear here."

Aedan nodded, "I know." He mentally promised to try to go in public without them. "It's just not easy."

Alvis nodded, "is the shoulder doing ok?."

Aedan rubbed his left shoulder, it was one of his many scars, but it bothered him the most because it was above a nerve bundle, "it's been all right." It was sore pretty often.

Alvis took down a note, "if it's ever bothering you badly we can always reschedule a session."

Alvis looked back up from his notes, "And how did you like the group session today? You and Nia seemed to be getting along quite well. Would you be open to having another meeting with the two of you?"

Aedan nodded, he was surprised himself, he'd never connected with anyone before, at least not in a long time. "Yes....I think I'd enjoy that a lot."

Alvis smiled, very happy that his gamble had payed off. He had a hunch that the two would pair well together but he couldn't have hoped for a better outcome.

"Very good. Our session is done for today. We will meet again next week at the same time with both of you. Could you let Nia know to come back in before you leave?"

He rose of course, he approached the door but turned, "thank you." He exited the room finding Nia outside.

He smiled at her, "we meet next week, same time." He formed a new ionic rose and handed to her, "listen, I meant about going to town together, how about tomorrow?."
