He squeezed her hand gently, "yeah that sounds good, its been a while since I had a home cooked meal." His last had been at the monetary, that seemed so long ago now, longer than it actually had been.

Moving quickly, he set the plate for her, wanting to do this part for her. "The sauce smells good, you seem like a really good cook," he smiled as he finished setting everything up. It was all new to him, dating and having friends too.

"Yeah...just something simple, movie and dinner," he said, pulling her seat out for her, "my treat of course." He intended to pay for every bit of it, once she was seated, he tool his own seat.

At the compliment for her sauce she blushed a little bit. "A-aw thank you. It was my mom's recipe..."

Shey looked away as she tried not to think about her parents too much. She didn't want to think about them right now. They disappeared so that's that.

"Oh h-hey I c-could at least pay for my meal and movie ticket...You really don't have t-to!"

She was a little shy about accepting offers like this. Nobody really ever did that for her. She would always have to do things herself. Having no friends or family to help her kind of forced her into a sort of independent phase...

"S-speaking of, what kind of movies do you like? I like anything that isn't horror. Haha.."

Calm down Shey, calm down...Ling is a nice dude he isn't gonna hurt ya for Christ's sake.

Tilting his head, he thought for a moment, "ok, how about you pay for the food, I'll pay for the movie?" He could tell she wasn't fully comfortable with him buying everything so he'd offer a compromise, something they could both be happy with.

"I'm not sure really," he tapped his finger on the table, "I didn't have tv or movies at home, so it's all new to me. I watched a few on the tv in my dorm, so I'm open for trying anything." He wanted to make sure she was comfortable with the date, it was a first for both of them after all.

He took a bite of the chicken, chewed and swollowed, "just uh...no martial arts films, I can't help but criticize them," he said with a small chuckle, he'd watched a few on tv and was unimpressed.

Shey nods, accepting the compromise that Ling had just proposed. She was glad that she'd be able to at least pay for something...after all, she felt bad that she had been attempting to pay for it all.

"Really..? You've never really watched too many movies..?", Shey said whilst she tilted her head to the side slightly.

"..Then I will definitely choose something really good I hope! And I'll be sure to avoid any martial arts films. They tend to be pretty cheesy to be honest. Haha."

She was pretty content in that situation. She had calmed down some, and she was getting used to being Ling's...girlfriend. Shey's never truly had a boyfriend before, so this will be a new experience...With him being such a gentleman, she'll be sure to be kind to him.
To be honest though, she felt like she should get to know him a little more...Get him to open up a little. If he was up for it, she didn't want to push him.

"You seem to be speaking kinda like you don't know too much about...how things work..? Ah, that's not the right wording I'm looking for sorry...Uhm...Can you tell me about that..? I would love to help ya out in any way I can...What would ya like to know..?"

Shey really hoped she didn't offend him in any way...Hopefully as she asked this question, Ling would offer some clue as to what he liked...Who he was or...something. She didn't want to ask so bluntly 'who are you' or anything like that...She didn't want to be pushy or demanding of him like that.
