Shey's house was nice, homey, it was actually the first house he could really remember ever being in. Before he could only remember ever living in the monastery, he had a vague memory of his mom mentioning that they had a house at one point, but he had no memories of it.

He stood beside his friend in her kitchen, he had no real idea where to start how to cook. She'd taken out some ingredients and various utensils they could use. "Thank you for this. So...what are we cooking?"

Shey had taken out some already cooked chicken to be reheated, and some other seasonings for when she (or in this case, Ling) cooks it up into a meal.

"Well! First of all I must mention that this chicken is already cooked. But mostly because it had to be so all the meat goodness was okay to eat. You are going to recook it so it's hot, but also putting some seasonings on it which I've already taken out. These ingredients are mostly standard for chicken, so I think it's best if you remember them. Although you can put anything on chicken really, this is just the start."

Man was she enthusiastic about cooking. Shey often had leftover foods but to her, leftover food always tasted the best. Teaching him how to cook also would help him know things about the world, and she's always happy to help with anything of the sort.

"I have yet to get extra groceries so I hope eating chicken is alright with you...I'll guide you if you aren't sure about something."

She kind of wanted to see how much he DID know first so she knew how and where to start teaching him...

He listened and nodded, "right...ok..." Stepping to the stove, he went about adjusting the nobs to the appropriate heat, or at least what he thought was appropriate. In truth he set the heat to low, the cooking incident in his dorm had made him a little paranoid around stoves.

He proceeded to set a pan on the stove and the chicken in the pan, all the while glancing back at Shey in case he was doing something wrong. "I...I really appreciate this, you helping me means a lot," he smiled at her, he tried to be grateful for everything people did for him.

Grabbing a salt shaker, he started slowly sprinkling it in, to slowly probably. He was worried about messing something up, especially considering this was her home, her private kitchen.

Shey nodded as he started preheating the oven. It was on a low setting, which is what she'd set it if it was just starting to be cooked, so she pointed it out to Ling.

"A low setting on the oven is a good way to slow cook the chicken or meat in general when it hasn't been cooked at all yet. Since we are just reheating the chicken, you can set it to a higher setting. You can put as much salt as you think would taste good. That's something that doesn't matter as much, just the taste."

Shey winked at him, approving of his cooking so far.

"It's no problem Ling. I'm glad I'm able to teach ya stuff. Let me know if you need help. I'm going to mix up some barbecue sauce real quick okay?"

She heads to the table where she placed some ketchup and other ingredients to make the sauce.

"If you want, you can let the oven preheat right now, and while you wait come and watch me do this. It's my own recipe on barbecue sauce, so I'll teach ya this too. If you're up for it."

She smiled gently at him again. Maybe she sounds to talkative and excessively mothering him but it's hard to not when it's in her nature.

I should really calm down haha...

An embarrassed smile appeared on his face as he set the heat to higher. He was doing better than he expected, far better than when he'd tried in his dorm, he'd avoided cooking since then. That was, until Shey offered to teach him how to cook.

Moving away from the stove, he stood beside her to watch the sauce making. "It's going easy enough," he looked over at her with a smile, he was enjoying it actually, though it might be more because of the company than anything else.

He watched as she prepared the sauce, though he kept glancing back to her. She was a beautiful girl, just being around her made him happy. Then he did something he was expecting, he leaned over and kissed her.

Shey nodded. "Yeah, it's an easier recipe. Easier recipes are easy to learn of course so it shouldn't be too much of a problem for you-"

Suddenly she felt something up against her lips, and realized that Ling was kissing her.

He's kissing me oh jeez uh I did not expect this oh my goodness uh...

She hesitated a little bit before kissing back gently. Shey wasn't sure what to do since she technically hasn't been kissed like this before but...she tried.

...Shey quickly pulled back when she realized that she dropped the spoon she was mixing the sauce with into the sauce, covering it. Without looking away from Ling, she took it out and put it on a piece of paper towel beside the bowl.

"A-aww what w-was that for..? H-heh...", she said as she nervously wiped some sauce from her hands onto her apron. Shey wasn't sure what to think at that point...Ling was kind and a bit innocent but he was also mature and...Really, it didn't bother her too much that he was 16 but is she ready for a relationship right now? Her gut said she was, but her head was still scrambling to figure out what just happened. Cue the blushing tomato face.

Ling smiled, "well..I...uh...," he cleared his throat. "You're really kind and beautiful," she was a few years older than him, but that didn't bother him, he was immortal anyways. "I did promise you a date," he took her hand and gently squeezed it. "I've never dated, never had the chance to," it'd been hard to date, when you lived in an isolated monastery with no one but monks.

"So..would you like to go out with me?" this was all new to him, actually most social stuff was new to him. "We'll go to that restaurant like I promised," his smile never faded, if anything it grew, though it was a little embarrassed.

He cleared his throat and kissed her cheek, "I really like being with you Shey." It was true, he did really like her.

Shey's face continued to be red after Ling complimented her.

"Y-yeah, you did p-promise huh...", she couldn't help but smile sweetly. She didn't have too much experience either...

"M-maybe we'll both learn from this...uh...I don't have m-much experience either..."

Shey stood, still surprised as Long kissed her on the cheek. "Im...u-uh...I r-really like b-being around you t-too..."

She leaned onto the table slightly, propping herself up with her right hand. She was pretty weak in the knees to be honest...very nervous.

Smiling, he stood beside her, wrapping his arm around her waist, "We'll figure it out together, we like each other, so we'll spend time together." He kissed her cheek again, "a movie and dinner, it'll be fun."

He was about to say something when his nose picked up something, quickly slipping back to the chicken, he removed them from the stove before they could burn. "Well....that was close. Sorry about thay."

Returning to her, he gently held her hand, "So, let's finish dinner, then we can plan our date." He gave her another kind smile.

Shey had to admit that she wasn't sure how she was going to compose her self. Pun intended. She's getting there though.

"A movie and a dinner...O-okay!", she smiled cheerfully Maybe this wouldn't be so bad...

She smelled a very faint scent of something burning. Shey thought it was her imagination, but when Ling went and took the chicken out of the oven, she knew immediately what it was. Ling had apologized briefly before holding her hand.

"Daaaamn you have a good nose. I thought that was my imagination I was smelling something burning haha...And it still looks good! No obviously burnt bits. Don't worry about it.", she said as she stood up straight and grabbed a mini spatula off the counter and moving the chicken onto a glass plate. Shey placed said plate on the table and poured the barbecue sauce she had made onto the chicken. Not smothering it, just lightly covering it. Normally she would put the sauce onto the chicken before putting the chicken in the oven but sometimes room temperature stuff tastes good. She's weird like that.

"Mhm! Y-yeah we can plan our date once we have eaten, or we can just start talking about it while we are if you w-want."

It sucked that Shey had still stuttered. She should really calm down a little. It was kind of justified though, she was definitely nervous. She's dealt with intimate things before, but not of the good kind. Shey had a hard time remembering it at that point, but she had still tried to avoid thinking about it. Hopefully the slight worry wasn't evident on her face because of the probably obvious nervousness.

"Thank you for joining me in cooking dinner. And for being here in general. It's nice to have some company." She was kind of repeating what Ling had said to her, but it was the truth. She was grateful.
