Conversations in the Cafeteria

She was so hungry, like starving. It had been hours since she had eaten, Liliana realsed as she quickly made her way down to the cafeteria for dinner. It was on the later end of the evening, and dinner service might actually be over, she didn't know. All she knew is it was gone eight and she hadn't had more than an apple to eat at noon, and that was like over eight hours now.

"Thank the gods," Liliana said with a sigh of relief when she saw that they were still serving and that there were people at tables eating, and that she wouldn't be reduced to grabbing a sandwich from a vending machine or from the pre-packaged meals section of the cafeteria.

"Hi there," Lily said to one of the servers as she approached the dinner counter. "Is it still possible to get some curried chicken, rice, fried okra?" she asked as she grabbed some water, a slice of vanilla cake and a granola snack for later tonight.

After getting her food, Liliana looked around the room, and spotted a table that was empty except for a classmate who she recognized almost immediately, taking her tray, she made her way over to where he was sitting.

"Hey, Aren," Liliana said, placing her tray on the table. "Do you mind if I join you?" she asked with a friendly grin as she sat down at the table, not waiting for his reply.

When Aren said that she could eat with him if she wanted, and he couldn't stop her, Liliana flashed him a happy grin. "So.. How is everything going?" Liliana asked him curiously as she unrolled her cutlery which was wrapped up in a napkin. "Any plans for the upcoming holidays? she added as she opened her water and took a sip.

As Aren talked, Liliana tried a bite of her curried chicken. It was pretty good, not the best she'd ever had but certainly not the worst. "Truthfully, no idea," she said as she pierced another piece of chicken with her fork. "My parents went back to the arrow Reality, like a month ago, and I haven't heard from them much since then," she said.

"I may actually be spending Christmas here in the dorm too," she told him thoughtfully, "maybe go up to the space station, or if it snows, which would be cool," Liliana said as she tried some okra, swallowing first before she continued, "maybe make a snowman or something like that," she said enthusiastically.

"Sure, that sounds like it could be fun," Liliana said when he suggested hanging out together if she was spending Christmas in the dorms. "We could go up to the space station, wander around for a bit, maybe have something to eat up there if you wanted?" she suggested as she moved the rice around on her plate.

"Me too..." Liliana said with a friendly smile as she thought more about it. Yeah, it could be fun, she thought, she could show Aren a few places that KirMir had shown her, maybe take him for noodles even.

"Have you checked out the skating rink in town?" she asked curiously. "I was there, like, maybe ten days ago. Some girls were talking about it, and me and my friend Genie decided to try it out." she told him as she speared a piece of onion in her curry and put it to the side.
