James chuckled at Nyota, it was true, she was one of the few people who seemed able to brighten things for him. He listened as she talked, a small smile on his face, his eyes still occasionally going over to Klef's bed, concern appearing on his face before looking back to her, his smile reappearing again.

"I know feels like a lot has been building up," he said commenting on the show, an ironic thing for him to say, considering he tended to hold his troubles in, choosing to care for others more than himself.

His right hand started rubbing his left forearm as the usual tingly numbness caused bye the nerve damage hit. Overall James didn't look particularly good, he looked stressed and tired.

"Yeah it does, I've seen this over a dozen times but I still get excited over watching this this episode and the one following it. But hey, why don't you watch it yourself instead of me babbling all about it."

Nyota then played the last episode and sat down close to her friend back on the couch. It all started off with the crew of the Enterprise investigating missing colonies to whom the crew suspect was the cybernetically enhanced race known as the Borg. As the episode progresses, the crew of the Enterprise move to intercept a Borg cube but find themselves now caught in a Borg tractor beam. Nyota sits up a bit just when things get exciting when when suddenly there was knock on the door. Nyota presses the pause button and struts her way to the door.

"Hold up, pizza's here I think." she mumbled as she peeked through the peephole. Once she visually confirmed that it was the pizza boy, she opened the door right open.

"Hey pizza is- whoa!" gawked Nyota she she admired the hunky elven pizza boy.

"Ahh... madem... your pizza pie is served" spoke the pretty pizza boy in what sounded like a slight Spanish accent.

"Ha ha ha... ummm... thanks!" chippered Nyota as she just stared at the boy... before remembering about the food.

"Oh... here's the money... and umm... I'll just take the pizza now!" stuttered Nyota as she fumbled with her words, the radiating presence of such of sexy, handsome pizza boy was turning her mind into mush.

"Madem! The pizza is most-"

"ITS FINE" exclaimed Nyota as she snatched the pizza away from him "YOU HAVE A VERY NICE DAY NOW!"

Nyota then slams the door, her face still slightly glowing as returns to the couch. She sets a pizza down for herself and the other to her friend as she lets out a sigh of relief.

"Okey okey... umm... right... so back to Star Trek right?" inquired Nyota, obvious to how poorly her friend James was at the moment.

As Nyota got up to get the pizza, James closed his eyes, trying to sort to sort through his thoughts. So much had happened so quickly, the virus, Klef, the bullies, and now his nightmares were back.

Opening his eyes he couldn't help but smile at his friend getting the pizza, he'd struggled making friends, but she was always there. Reaching into his bag, he pulled a medium sized box from it and set it beside him. A surprise for Nyota.

As she returned he took his pizza and gently poked her in the ribs, "get his number?" he asked teasingly. "I'm surprised you haven't found someone," opening the pizza box he took a slice, "you're pretty and fun to be around," he'd had a crush on her early on, it'd cooled, and faded over time, but perhaps a bit if it was still there.

He took a bite, chewed and swallowed, "I've certainly had no luck in dating," maybe it was because of his quiet nature, or because of how long it could take to get to know him. "Of course, I'm not exactly the most likable guy," he smiled a bit, perhaps only half joking. The years of abuse had left James with low self esteem but he highly values his friends.

He glanced over at Klef's bed, that girl was on his mind a lot lately, he liked her a lot, but he hadn't yet realized it yet. He'd always struggled with understanding his emotions.

"Ha ha... fuck you" grumbled Nyota as her friend poked a bit fun at her. Not her darn fault that she becomes infatuated with every pretty boy or girl she meets... stupid hormones or something. Nyota had just opened the box of cheesy goodness when James mentioned how he was surprised that she hadn't found anyone yet, question that just seemed so out of the blue to her.

"Really? You think that? I'm beginning to wonder if you know really know me at all. I just... ughh... I dunno... not all that approachable?" shrugged Nyota as she bites into the slice of pizza.

"Fucking miracle I have you as friend to be honest. I tend to drive most people away but you seemed to have stuck around for some reason. But hey don't get all moppy with me. You where dating that gorgeous angle girl for awhile before you two broke up. And hey, Kelf seems to like you... speaking which... are you two... a thing? You two seem to be hanging out quite a bit."

He smiled softly and took another bite of his food, he was happy Nyota appreciated him. Felt good to have a friend who cared.

James quickly looked up when Klef was brought up, "me and Klef?" he asked surprised. "No.....she's just a friend," he looked down for a moment, "if anything it feels like she's pushing me away."

"But....yea..I don't like her...that way...," he trailed off, his voice suddenly uncertain, his emotions suddenly overriding his thoughts. "Oh gods.....," he finally said after a pause as realization hit him, he did like her.

Closing his eyes, he let out a small sigh, "I.....well.....damn it." He leaned back in his seat, he'd always been bad with his emotions, "well.....seems she doesn't like me. Fuck, why can't my emotions.....just work right," he had emotional damage from his past, it made some things difficult at times.

"Hee, yeah. Thats what I thought. Just though I would ask anyway." as she goes to eat another slice of pizza. Then all of a sudden James had what looked to be a small outburst of sorts, giving Nyota some pause as she wraps her head around.

"Ummm... fuck dude... are you okey there?" asked Nyota, sounded a little concerned "I mean... I didn't really mean anything by it. Do you... actually like Kelf? Or... are you worried that she secretly likes you or something?"

Nyota defiantly didn't intend to rile up emotions over her friend's love life. And... what could she say to time? She had no relationship experiences what so ever. The closest she ever got to romance was reading her parents awful Star Trek fan fictions... never again.

He sighed again and did his best to sort his emotions, "I.....like her," he finally admitted. Closed his eyes, accepting his emotions, how he felt, "but it's obvious she doesn't feel the same way."

James took another bite of his pizza, "It's always so damn hard.....sorting through my emotions." He took a breath, "I guess it doesn't really matter."

Leaning back, he scratched the back if his head, a bit more trouble for an already troubled mind. "Sorry.......this was supposed to be a fun evening."

"Ehhh... alright well... I guess just keep it to yourself then. I'm not much of an expert at these sort of things but if the she isn't interested then nothing you can do about it. Just gotta respect it for what it is. Anyway, stop being a whiny dork now. We can still have fun evening. Lets just continue on where we left off with the adventures of Captain Picard now."

With that Nyota scooted up from her seat to reach for the play button to resume Star Trek before sitting back down to devour her pizza pie. The episode continued with the crew of the Enterprise escaping from from the borg tractor beam and hiding in dense gas cloud to avoid detection. Nyota sits up from her seat, anticipating what was about to come up next.

Nyota takes a quick glance to see how well he was holding up. Still was still a little worried about him in the back of her mind... he seemed a bit... troubled.

Sighing, he rubbed at the dark circles under his eyes, "yea maybe," James had a bad habit of letting his emotions build up, never venting them. In truth it wasn't healthy, not in the least.

He looked over to Nyota and smiled a bit, it was meant to show that he was ok, even though he wasn't. It was easy to tell it was fake, put on to ease the situation.

"Anyways.....uh....," he picked up the wooden box he had and handed it to Nyota. "I made this for you," the box was simple, but inside was a hand carved wooden statue of the Starship Enterprise.

Nyota turned her head the moment James sheepishly spoke up. "Hrrmmm? Oh? You made me a gift? Like what... knitted me a pair of socks or something?" joked Nyota as she reached out for the box and set it on her lap. She held the box in between her legs while using her free right arm pry the box right open. Once she had it open, she paused as she was momentary in disbelief. Carefully removing the wooden carving, she lifted close to her face to carefully inspect it.

"Haa... you did not! Its amateur work and my moms would berate you SO hard about proportions being wrong but... you know... I like it! Thanks dork~ Your too good to sometimes." Nyota give her friend a smile, then sits up. She walks over to her tabletop counter to place the wooden figurine right next to a photo of her and her two moms. She took a moment to look at her parents, then returns to her seat in a relaxed posture.

"Ahhhh... did I ever tell you my middle name James? Well I'm just going to say it: its Enterprise. Yep, you heard right, just like the fucking ship in the show playing right" laughed Nyota... it was a little embarrassing but thankfully her middle name was rarely used and most people did not pick up on the fact that her first name, Nyota, was yet another Star Trek reference to a character in the original series.
