Community Assignments
Do you have a fun idea for a thread but need more characters to join in? Or perhaps you just want to let someone else run with the idea. Maybe you're having trouble finding just the right plot opportunity for that power upgrade. Assignments are here to help everyone come together to suggest and take part in those lovely plot ideas.
Assignments are similar to wanted ads. You post a thread idea looking for others to join you or offering it up for someone else to use. Or you might be on the other side, accepting an idea someone else offered up or just agreeing to take part in one of these threads. The best part is there are bonuses for everyone who takes part.
How it works:
Out of Character:
Using the templates posted below you reply to this thread to suggest an Assignment idea or claim one that someone else has already offered up for others to use. If an Assignment lists a specific player as the one running the assignment, they are the one responsible for posting Assignment Claim Updates here when characters are added, the Assignment is completed or the Assignment is abandoned.
As a reward for taking part in this system you will receive (1) Upgrade Voucher for either running your suggested Assignment or participating in an Assignment thread once that gets completed. This is in addition to the voucher you may also claim if that thread satisfies the conditions for a normal thread completion voucher (which should be claimed through the Upgrade Voucher thread as usual).
In Character:
Your character is signing up to help with a community service request or other task from one of the running lists maintained by the staff of Starlight Academy, the government of Manta Carlos City, or one of the more legally questionable websites. Characters under the age of 18 can legally only sign up through the school for "School Sanctioned" Assignments which have been endorsed and approved by the Academy. However some characters under the age of 18 might choose to illegally sign up for Unsanctioned Assignments at their own risk.
In character, some Assignments may also include additional rewards to give characters more of an incentive to join, like payment or a gift offered by the person making the request.
Assignment Categories:
Assignments are categorized by two main factors. How dangerous the task involved is and whether the Assignment was sanctioned by the school, the city or not at all.
Assignment Danger Levels:- Green- Very low risk Assignments with no negative consequences and no chance of failure.
- Yellow- Somewhat riskier Assignments with a moderate chance for failure or short-term negative consequences for the character. These are very rarely school sanctioned.
- Red- Higher risk Assignments with the possibility of permanent negative consequences and/or failure. These are never school sanctioned.

Summary of the Assignment: The group will be attempting to corral several large but harmless creatures near the edge of the Forbidden forest. The creatures need to be loaded up into specialized trailers for transport, but show no interest in doing so on their own. This task is not expected to face any serious danger.

Summary of the Assignment: With the assistance of a trained forest ranger, volunteers will be travelling deep into the heart of the forest to retrieve a small group of extra-dimensional creatures. While the creatures themselves are not expected to be dangerous the forest is, especially going so deep. Combat is expected.

Assignment Types:
- School Sanctioned- Assignments are approved by the school, usually targeted at students, less dangerous and never illegal
- City Sanctioned- Assignments are maintained by the city government, are potentially more difficult and dangerous but are also not illegal.
- Unsanctioned- Assignments are for illegal and/or highly dangerous jobs. Think vigilantism or committing a crime.
NPC Inclusion:
Some Assignments may require NPCs to function properly. To that end players may create a one-time NPC to help move the plot forward. These NPCs are for that Assignment thread only, and should not be used as a recurring characters unless they have an approved character application completed for them. NPCs played this way should not be major figures in Manta Carlos lore, prominent figures from real world mythology, or important individuals in another member’s lore.

If someone suggests an Assignment but doesn't want to run it themselves then others are allowed to claim that Assignment and run it. To do that fill out the form below and post it as a reply to this thread. A mod will "like" your post and note the changes to the open Assignment. It is preferred that you try to locate other players to fill the participant slots as much as possible before you make a claim.
