The demon comment was a low blow and she knew it. But she was getting desperate. Loveless had too much of her heart. She cared about him too much and the only way she knew how to handle it was to get him out of her life and as far away from her as possible. Caring was dangerous. The more you cared about someone, the more power they had to crush you.
Emotions were starting to swirl in her mind. Her usual pissed off response was mixing with unwanted sadness, regret and longing. Her hangover wasn't helping keep her head clear either. She could feel herself slipping, tears held back only by years of practice. She had never cried in front of Loveless. Only Kaya and that was after nearly three days of sleep deprivation.
"No one's gonna stab me in an alley. I can take care of myself." It was all she could think to say.
She felt a weigh of darkness fall over her as her control on her emotions began to slip. A literal darkness drew itself up around her, her eyes turning a darker shade of gray and the shadows within arms reach of her intensifying, as if someone had increased the contrast. She noticed this and realizing Loveless would know that she was losing her grip on her abilities, she quickly grabbed her bag and jumped to her feet, preparing to run out of the coffee shop.
Unfortunately, she didn't make it that far. She got the stand up part okay but two steps in her vision went black. She wasn't passing out but the hangover made her light headed and she stumbled a step or two more blindly before ramming her knee into a table.
"God fucking damnit!" She cried, her anger finally having something inanimate to unleash itself on. Her vision returned enough for her to grab the edge of the table and flip it. Aided by her powers, she managed to toss it a solid ten feet across the room, magically avoiding hitting anyone else. Of course, it drew the attention of the rest of the customers and the staff. Her eyes had now gone completely black but she didn't dare glance back at Loveless as she continued her march out of the shop, hopefully uninterrupted by any employees or managers.
@Max!!
