Climbing and falling from trees

Aspen had been outside most of the day, her hair pinned up into a high ponytail off of her neck, which was sweaty from the heat. "At least I don't have to wear a stupid hat today." She muttered to herself as she started walking towards a tree, one that looked like a good climbing one. "Then again a hat probably would be better than this sticky sunscreen."
Aspen reached the tree and grabbed hold of the closest limb, pulling herself up to where she was safely sitting on a thick branch high above the ground with her legs dangling down. "I wonder if I have any other special power... like flying." The red head said to herself as she put a finger to her chin, deep in thought. "Suppose it wouldn't hurt to try."

Aspen then slowly stood up, trying to ballance herself on the branch. "Allright. Arms out. Head up. and kick off..." She said, but suddenly slipped...

The thirteen year old girl had slipped from the tree branch and was dangling helplessly above the ground. The only thing keeping her from falling was the hard grip she had on a limb. And this time her powers couldn't save her...

Elinor walked out of the school and toward the lake, and sat at a table. She hated summer, it was way too warm outside. But then again winter was cold... And spring had all that pollen and fall had too many leaves... So which was the better season?
She laughed slightly at the thought of this, and looked at one of the nearby trees. Once she saw someone dangling from one of the branches, she ran up to it.
"Need help up there?" she called, concern evident in her voice.

Aspen, struggling to keep hold of the branch, craned her head back to see exactly who had spoken. "Oh! Yes, Please. A little help... would be appreciated." She said, between breaths. Aspen wasn't exactly the strongest person in the world. And though she didn't weigh much... she was still a weakling when it came to lifting things physically. Oh sure, moving junk with my mind is easy... er- sorta. She thought with a sigh.

"Can you get me down?" Aspen asked, hoping the girl who'd walked up had some awesome power to help. "Got any... super strength? Or- Maybe a ladder?"

Aspen's eyes nearly popped right out of their tiny sockets upon seeing Elinor fly up. "Oh, I forgot. This is a special school." She said, slightly giving a laugh just before her grip loosened slightly. "Uh- Whatever you do, just do it quickly! I'm falling!" Aspen cried, closing her eyes tightly as her fingers accidentally slipped from the tree branch. "Aah!"

"Am I dead yet?" Aspen questioned, still having her eyes closed tightly from fear of falling. "I know I'm dead. Why am I not seeing heaven's doors?" She asked herself, and slowly peeked open one eye to see Elinor. "Oh thank God! You saved my life!"
