Last night had been a long night for Hannah. She had run away from home, being found in the community center battered and hungry, throwing up all kinds of red flags about the parents who were supposed to be taking care of her. Now, she was in the school's care.
Aranea had been there, and for some reason Hannah seemed to find her presence comforting, so Aranea went along with Hannah and the policemen to meet a nocturnal social worker, keeping Hannah calm, helping to smooth things over to some small degree.
When Aranea came to work the next morning, she made some inquiries. She learned more about Hannah's situation, and her heart went out to her.
She took some time out of her schedule. That morning, after Hannah got up, Aranea would meet her at the cafeteria. It was mostly empty by this time, except for one or two college students with strange schedule. She gave food services a heads up and made sure they had fresh, warm cinnamon rolls prepared for the girl. Little things like that could help.
"Hello, Hannah. How are you this morning?"
