Chausiku is a small child for her age, only 4' tall and looking slightly underfed and scrawny. Her Ethiopian heritage shows in her darker skin and curly brown hair, though her blue eyes are somewhat unusual. She generally comes off as timid and shy, slightly nervous about everything.
Chausiku's favourite style of clothing is loose and flowy, with bright colours. She's usually wearing some sort of beaded necklace and bracelets, either cheap plastic or handmade clay beads.
Her hyena form is still juvenile. She looks like a normal striped hyena, though smaller and fluffier than one that's full grown. As a hyena, she's about 2 1/2' long and 2' tall at the shoulder. Chausiku is slender and light. Most of her body is covered in silver-gray and black stripes, with silver-gray head and toes, and a black face and feet.
Personality Description:
Chausiku is a complete introvert. She is quiet, nearly withdrawn, and sometimes has a hard time making friends. But she becomes very attached to any friends she does manage to make. The girl does not like change and handles stress by freezing up. She was already scared by this island - finding out she was a werehyena and moving from her home all mostly at once was quite overwhelming. A timid, almost girly girl, Chausiku prefers solitary, creative pursuits and is a bit of a coward. She would always prefer to flee but will bite if backed into a corner - literally.
Chausiku is not very studious or inventive - she'd prefer things to stay the same and while not particularly lazy, she's not ambitious either. She does enjoy movies, specifically romances and cute animal movies - chick flicks. Her hobbies include sculpting with clay, beadwork, and embroidery. Even though she's not a very fancy dresser, Chausiku does dream of owning a princess dress one day.
Losing her mom to monster attacks has shaken the girl and made her even more wary of every unhuman creature on the island, except Rita who she views as some sort of warrior princess.
Species Abilities:
Hyena Shifting - Uncontrolled shapeshifting into a hyena from midnight to sunrise, unable to switch back to human form yet during this time. During the day, she can shift back and forth - taking a few minutes to do so where she will be completely vulnerable. Being stressed can also trigger the transformation to hyena. Form is a striped hyena with the senses and physical strength/agility of a normal hyena. Can speak in hyena form.
Evil Eye - Very weak. Must be angry with and glare at target. Target can't be looking at her. Can be warded off by a protective talisman, a cross, or just the sign of the cross. Only causes a small misfortune - most likely stubbing a toe, getting a finger caught in a door. Happens within 30 minutes and only happens once per evil eye. Can only curse one person at a time. Must wait a week to curse the same target.
Corpse Eater - Must have a steady diet of dead human flesh or she will weaken and starve. She will start to go feral after 3 days. Corpse must have been dead for at least 24 hours, which is why they tend to rob graves.
Nocturnal - Has good night vision, but can't see well in the day or under bright light.
Immune to non-magical poisons & disease. Will not get sick from eating most food, although they still should not drink chemicals. No other healing or regenerative magic, and still vulnerable to acids and other corrosive agents.

Chausiku was raised in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. Compared to others in the city, her family was slightly less poor, but nowhere near wealthy. She was able to attend primary school and did an average job.
Though both her parents were also werehyenas, they never told her, wanting to raise her normally as long as they could. Because they were adults, they weren't forced to remain hyenas all night. They would rob graves and feed her flesh secretly so that she wouldn't starve and tried to get her on a less nocturnal schedule. Her parents were mostly successful at raising her as an average child, completely unaware of her nature until she started shifting around her 10th birthday.
Her parents still tried to cover this up to other people as much as they could, although they could obviously no longer keep it from Chausiku herself. This lasted for a few months until Chausiku shifted during school because of some bullies. Scouts covered up the incident and her whole family was moved to Manta Carlos.
Chausiku had just arrived on MC only a couple days before the interdimensional monsters started appearing. She and her mother were out for a walk when they were attacked. She was saved by Rita Drakenhardt, but not in time to stop her mother from getting killed. The girl has sort of followed Rita around since then because she doesn't know anyone else and she feels like she owes the dragon her life.
