Trephas listened intently, and when Lex pulled away he let her go. He felt sad for her, and he didn't know what to say, and he got angry at Eben, he was the one who brought it up, and now it made Lex remember about what happened to her. He looked down at the snow on the ground, and he slightly shivered, and he felt cold.

What do I do now?... Do I say something, or do I just sit here, in silence? He asked himself, then he looked up at Lex. "I'm sorry, that I asked you who did it, now I wish Eben hadn't said anything... I wonder what made him say something..." Trephas said, looking back down at the ground.

Lex shook her head. "It's not your fault. And it's not Eben's either. He doesn't strike me as an unkind person. He didn't see that. He just didn't know what it meant. It's ok." her words were suddenly sturdy again as she drew in her strength. She hated looking so weak, but that memory totally took her down. Drained her of any strength she had. But it happened often enough that she was starting to be able to lock it away.

She slowly relaxed herself out of her ball, breathing slowly. Slowly, her eyes changed, the haunted look disapearing from them. She was locking the memories up again, until something brought them up. She pondered silently for a moment, if she'd even be able to control them, and if she did, would they aid her strength? Her lips turned into a wry smile as she held up her hand, the thick white x of a scar standing out upon it. "He gave me this." she added, as though it was the last memory she had to tuck away.

She shook her head slowly. "I'm sorry you had to see me like that." she relaxed herself into the snow, allowing the coolness of it to draw her mind back to the present, her hair beginning to whip around her face again. She supposed it was obvious now that the reason her powers never ceased working was because she was keeping what had just happened under control.

Trephas looked up at Lex and smiled, though it was quite weak, but he didn't care, he felt sorry for Lex. When she showed him the scar he stared at it for a bit, then looked down thinking. It was just like he usually reads, where the bad guy leaves some form of mark on the main character. He shrugged it off before he starts to wander in his thoughts.

Soon he looked back at Lex when she spoke again, and he smiled once more. "It doesn't matter how I saw you like that." He said looking down, then continued. "Because your always beautiful, no matter what state your in." He said staring down at the ground.

She was extremely startled when he told her she was beautiful, and she blushed. It wasn't just a slight blush either, her entire face turned pink. She didn't quite know what to do with a statement like that. She couldn't really say 'thank-you' since that sounded a bit egotistical. She couldn't say she wasn't, because obviously he thought she was.

Being a 16-year-old who spent her life pushing people away, she really had no idea how to deal with a compliment like that. She chewed on her bottom lip, remaining silent, though for a small window of time, nothing moved around her, as though it was holding it's breath. She knew she was. Especially since after a minute, she had to breathe in, because she was starting to feel light headed.

All of her being screamed 'run away' to her, but she didn't move, trying to figure out what to say to that.

He tensed up, wondering if he said the wrong thing, he didn't know what to do know. He thought Lex was beautiful and he just said it, he didn't know if it was bad that he did so. He put his left hand in the snow, letting it cool his hand, for no reason though. He didn't look up though he wasn't that embarrassed, he just wasn't sure if he said the wrong thing to her.

He finally looked up and noticed her, and he just looked at her. He didn't know what to say now, should he say something now, to break the silence? He didn't know. "I'm sorry if I said something that troubled you, it just came out like that..." He said in a quiet tone.

Lex shook her head. "No, it's not that...It's just.." she paused, nibbling on her lip, trying to figure out how to put it, "Nobody's ever said I was beautiful..before." She didn't know whether to give him a hug or run away from him. It was a new experiance. She smiled slightly, raising her gaze to meet his, a small blush making it's self present in her face. "I just, don't know how to respond." she shrugged, shivering slightly.

"I mean.. What would you say if I said you were the nicest guy I've ever met?" she was curious, but she couldn't keep the blush from darkening in her cheeks. What was wrong with her? She'd just been given a compliment. A compliment, that was all. Why couldn't she just accept it and move on?

Trephas listened, and he still looked over Lex's face, and he thought, long. "First off, it doesn't matter how you respond, you could anything random that pops up in your head first and do it as a response, or anything." He said with a small laugh, then he thought about her question. "Well, I would usually say something odd, but thats when my grandma says I'm a nice boy, but to you I'll say..." He stopped and thought for a bit, then stood, and bowed slightly.

"Thank you, milady. You are also very nice and kind." He said, standing tall after he had bowed, then he shrugged. "Maybe that, or something random." He said smiling, and he pulled out the juggling balls, and started juggling.

Lex smiled softly, and it turned into a grin when he started juggling. Now that was the Trephas she knew. She stood, watching him juggle for a moment, then moved to his side and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "I'd give you a hug, but that'd make you drop all your balls." she smiled again, and stepped back, rubbing her arms to keep herself warm. "Consider it thanks for being my best friend." she added softly, still grinning lightly. She hoped that her calling him her best friend wouldn't be the wrong thing for her to say, but it was true. He had this uncanny ability to make her smile, and forget. It was nice. It was as though she was truly at peace with him.

OoC-ness:

Oh gosh. Sorry it's so short.

His smile seemed to widen slightly when she kissed him on the cheek, and his eyes seemed to saw a emotion, that was a happy glint but it was soon hidden by the dullness of his eyes, though he had continued to juggling, though it felt like he wasn't, in till he nearly dropped one, but he quickly caught it and continued.

"Well, I'll have to say that you too, is my best friend." He said still juggling, though he looked at Lex, then back to what he was doing.

She watched him juggle for a few more minutes, amazed at the dexterity of it all. After those minutes were up, she sidled up to him again. "So, tell me best friend. Think you could teach me how to juggle?" she cocked her head, eyes twinkling with mischief. It was obvious now that she'd tucked all of the emotional demons of her past back into their corner where they belonged, not to be delved out for at least another hour. She could feel them clawing at the back of her mind, but she ignored them, smiling up at Trephas as she awaited his reply.
